Dont know why but i just turned mine on and for the past 2 days its been sounding horrible. I didnt do anything wrong to it. It has the same bass level as before. The mids and the highs are just not there anymore. Its wierd let me know if you experience the same issue. I decided to go with the Boombox. I showed my partner and tried to show how good the Sony sound, but she's a JBL fan now since I got her a few of the speakers. I imagine it would be just fine, cause really, between the two, they are a close match and I think it only comes down to preference with style. I think I concluded the Sony has room filling sound and the JBL is more bassy. She said she likes more bass. One interesting fact I learned about the JBL, is if you have it plugged in, it changes the wattage, which I didn't expect, where it allows the speaker to use more watts.
The Sony sounds like a more open and detailed, while the JBL sounds darker but punchier. it boils down to what you prefer. when I was younger I would have liked the JBL more, but now I'd buy the Sony.

Great products, I'm considering the Sony as already have a Bluetooth Sony home theatre surround system and another Sony Bluetooth stereo in the poolroom that I believe it could also work in addition with, if I understand correctly with the app. I just bought the Sony XG300 and even though it has really good sound and I can use the Sony app to adjust the equalization, I'd prefer more volume overall even if it means a larger and heavier platform which initially concerned me and why I tried the XG300 to begin with. Playing bass heavy songs on it low it does great, yet turning it up it's too much for the little guy. Seems like both of these are solid choices, yet already having other Sony sound devices in my home and being able to add this to it along with its latest tech, Sony for me on this one. Thanks again greatly, y'all would be cool to kick it with, reminds me of some cool dudes from my old Army days! OohRaah!
I had both I returned the Sony. JBL boombox 3 WiFi is on another level with Dolby atmos and I got it at Costco for $349. Sony should have added a Dedicated subwoofer.
@ the 4:00 mark I'd say both are true. I'd say test both the factory set sound of each speaker for the purposes you stated but also a eq setting, if not multiple eq settings, That you think is optimal cause the majority of people always change the eq settings. Rarely does anyone listen to a speaker how it is just straight Outta the box. Either way I'd still be curious of your opinion on what the optimal sound eq settings are on each speaker. Thanks for watching man. Actually, most consumers don't even bother to download the apps for headphones, earbuds and speakers. This is literally the average consumer we're talking about. That's why the manufacturers put so much emphasis on their "signature" sound. People like you and I are the small percentage who like to tailor our sound. 👊🏾

1 thing I notice that with both of them costing $500 it's a deciding factor for ether sound quality (JBL) or features (Sony) with the microphone and lights
debating if i get one of these or just a proper wired speaker setup for my pc/console setup in my office. its just me at a 48 by 88 inch desk. seen the sony go on sale for $300 but im scared the quality might be meh at lower volumes since ima be sorta close to it. that or a more expensive sound bar to feel more immersive in games. problem of choosing between video games and music.
JBL sounds flat with bass SONY sound is more even across the board then again depending of what type of music that is being played determines which to choose

Because when the JBL bb3 is on AC, its clarity wakes up (thanks to the fact that it gets all its wattage). I agree the JBL Boom box 3 sounds way better than the Sony. I have a bb3 and bought the Sony ult field 7 to see what all the hype about it was and took it back after a few days, it sounded cheap and the music was not as detailed as it is on the bb3. My buddies thought so too ! I guess it all comes down to each person's on opinions. This is my humble opinion!
I had both,sony sounds clearer but imo jbl is way louder and has more bass,but the jbl has horrible battery life 4 or 5 hours on max volume,the sony lasted me 6 or 7 hours on max volume
