- Part 1 of 12 - This module introduces viewers to the field of supply chain management. It describes the complex supply chain of a simple product, a bottle of water. The video also illustrates the importance of supply chain managers and their skill sets in our modern global economy for both manufacturing and service industries. In defining supply chain management, the video also hopes to educate and inspire business students, young and old, about the opportunities available to those with supply chain management degrees.
This is the first installment in Arizona State University's twelve-part introduction to supply chain management video series. ASU, the W. P. Carey School of Business, and the Supply Chain Management Department are proud and happy to share this video series with supply chain management departments, supply chain instructors, career specialists in high schools and universities, as well as industry leaders in an effort to inspire a new generation of supply chain management professionals across the country and around the world.
Further installments in this series will be made available during the spring of 2010. For more information, visit W. P. Carey's SCM Web site at wpcarey.asu.edu/scm or send an e-mail to wpcarey.scm@asu.edu.
No one:
No kid:
Not any kid on earth:
Kid: I want to become a supply chain manager when I grow up
😂😂😂😂😂😂
As a logistics senior NCO in the Army, I can tell you that supply chain is critical to mission success.
🤣🤣💯
😂😂😂
😂😂
I learned more in this video series than in all of my marketing courses
Haha, I totally agree with you..
Me too Bro
Thats sad
That's because marketing courses are a waste of time. Do you know who Edward Bernays is? If not, you should ask your college for your money back.
@@jdotpenneyatcomputer what u mean
Such a charismatic presenter, fun editing and straightforward visuals!
"Welcome to SCM. Where all your childhood supply chain dreams are about to come true" LOL Gonna use that line with my students :D
I just want to say that this video sold me on majoring in Supply Chain Management four years ago as a high school senior. I’m now about to graduate college and start working as a supply chain project manager for a well-known retailer. Thank you to Arizona State and the W.P. Carey School of Business for the inspiration! I highly recommend this video to anyone who’s interested in the field.
100% agree
I haven't finished this video yet, and I love it already. I would be so great if you could do a video for every industry. I think the graphic representation of every term at the right hand side helps a lot for all visual learners.

An excellent explanation, hands-on, relatable, engaging, funny - even 10 years later. Thanks for sharing!
And once again, I see a good piece of work that uses good humour and light content. This is the way! THANK YOU!

This was an amazingly easy to understand video! It makes it so easy even though many of my fellow business students (including me) often forget the core ideas of SCM!
you a business student? I thought you did law from Harvard Law
Taking my intro to OSCM this summer and these vids look very helpful. Thanks in advance.
This is awesome, brilliant summary of supply chain by introduction. I think he deserves a better name as a coach than a lecturer.
Very clear and to the point, nice job!
the best and simplest presentation ever
The best 8 minutes I spent learning about this subject. Pravo!!!
This guy can make anything sound interesting and easy to learn. This is where procrastination got me and I do not regret it. It beats working on my English class journals
Amazing video lesson!! My childhood dreams of becoming a supply chain manager are about to come true!!!
I really like the way you explain it, it's easy and fun to watch , thankyou !
This is an excellent series worth every minute you spend watching it.
One of the best examples of a great lecture. So clear and understandable, thank you!
Arizona State may be known for their extra-curricular activities (a.k.a. partying), but this is one of the best subject intro videos I have seen and an excellent tutorial on SCM for novices (and upper executives). Bravo!
Awesome job on explaining SCM! You have taken a very complicated subject and broken it down into laymans terms. Great work!
I need him as my professor! I learned more in these modules than I have all semester... Thank you!
This was concise, short and sweet. As a professional bilingual Buyer with twenty years experience working in Marine Technoogy, I really see the visualization of this being very beneficial. Kudos...
This was really fun to watch, thanks! I'll ace my logistics management exam tomorrow for sure haha not really, but this still helped me understand it better :)
This is very useful and intersting! I really like this course about Supply Chain Management Fundamentals
Such a great video! I learned so much about Supply Chain Management, and everything that goes into the price of products. I would have never guessed that my $1.50 contributed to the paycheck of a forklift driver!
Outstanding! I'm currently working on my undergrad degree in logistics management and this video is better and more understandable than anything I have learned so far.
Great video on Supply Chain, breaks it down with an energetic presentation! Thank You!

It has clarity and is focused on deconstructing what SCM is in order to show the sum of its parts. Great job!!

The speaker is Professor Davila and he teaches all the SCM 300 classes. Great class, made me change to SCM.
This is a great video. Taking a Supply Chain class in my MBA program and using this playlist to listen to as I drive or do brainless activities.
Wonderful presentation. The very fundamentals described very eloquently and lucidly. Thanks.
I've no words. It's just great way of understanding the things. Clear and up to the point speech with effective examples. Bravo. Keep it up.
This is very helpful, helped me understand SCM much better. Thank you!
CONDENSED THE WHOLE COURSE TO MY UNDERSTANDING. THANK YOU FOR RELATABLE EXAMPLES.
The explanation of the supply chain of bottled water makes obvious why clean water 💦 through the tube is the obvious solution to water sourcing :)
Thank you very much for opening my eyes to the topic. God bless you.
If only life came with an instruction booklet, I would say the tutorial is just as good. Thanks :)
I have learnt more in this video about SCM than in my 5 year career of supply chain .. In offices we dont learn about supply chain , we learn how to do processes , transactions without as much as less errors like robots ..
The Best video to understand Supply chain concept so far (Y)

This video still looks and sounds fresh.
Thank you, prof.
I watched this video about 7 years ago to learn what supply chain management is. I just got my Masters Degree in Integrated Supply Chain Management. Thank you so much for simplifying SCM for all of us!
Louis B i don't have a math background but i want to do my masters in supply chain management. Is it going to be difficult for me?
Eric Ninsson no, you will be fine. Math isn’t the core of SCM overall.
Update: I’ve been a procurement manager for a large technology company for 4 years now. This video assisted in giving me a very fulfilling career. Thanks again!
For those of you wanting to switch careers and have this in mind: DO IT!! SCM is the future and will only grow bigger and bigger and more profitable

german movies. The only points to stop is by check up some english word unknown
Product cost not being equal to material cost really is commonly misunderstood by many consumers. This is one of the most thorough explanations about supply chain and how the various costs will be added to the product cost.
Dude....you are amazing. I need to send this video to my Prof. nd tell him. This is how you should teach.
Thank you for share those knowledge through these videos, the materials of aggregate planning very insightful and necessary.

I take online classes, this week topic is Supply chain management for e-commerce. This helps me understand what SCM is, now I can apply this "e-commerce style" to effectively improve this process efficiently.
thank you~
I see a comment about what kid grew up dreaming of being involved in supply chain management and honestly that kid was me. I watched this video in the 6th grade at 12 and from then I decided this is what I want to be a part of. I was lucky enough to get into a high school where I had a major/shop titled logistics where I learned about it for four years. Then I went to college for supply chain management. As of now I’m 20 and I’m a senior entering my last year of college with honors and I will graduate a year before my original class of 2022 (now I’m class of 2021 . I don’t think I’ve been impacted more deeply by anything else up to date. I truly have a passion for the field.
What is supply chain like?
@@user-qy6tu9ip9v it really complies so much and applies varying roles like supply chain analyst, supply chain planner, working in buying/procurement (buying either goods for the company to sell/use for customers/use to help the company like machinery or even office goods) operations (warehousing, distribution, transportation etc) I’ve worked in manufacturing/ construction, operations and now buying all very different roles that aim to focus on getting the right goods to the right people at the right time and at the right price point
Amazing video! I'm thinking of getting into Supply Chain Management and Logistics.
me too brother! its the only thing that i liked during mechanical enggineering.
Update: I'm currently doing my first internship in Supply Chain and I'm loving it
My major is Finance so I didn't need to choose a specialization in this to get this position
