Canada Wildfire Smoke Harms Air Quality for Millions in US
Вставка

- Due to the wildfires that erupted in Canada, New York City topped the list of the world's worst air quality rankings. About 100 million people across 13 U.S. states are impacted by the flumes. The Federal Aviation Administration slowed air traffic from East Coast cities because of reduced visibility. The smoke is obscuring iconic U.S. skylines with an orange glow. Now, the startling scenery is coming with a serious health warning. Inside Edition's Steven Fabian has more.
If the air quality is bad miles away from the fire, imagine the small cities and towns in Canada directly near the wild fires. Good luck, Canada. Stay safe.

I started noticing the sky turning yellow like 3 days prior to yesterday so this took it's time to get over to Long Island. Yesterday while taking my mom to an appointment, it started smelling like gas while I was waiting for her. Then throughout the drive back, we kept on smelling the same fumes & when we got back to our house, the sky was slowly going yellow & it was only 1pm, looking like it was 8pm or something & the yellow sky didn't go away until 5pm. But I could still smell the air & it was like smelling gasoline light fires. Haven't gone outside yet today so I have no idea if the smell has gone away or not

Is there a branch in the military that deals with wildfires? Never heard of any… there should be one for this, since it’s occurring every year now.
Why should it be part of the military?
The Air National Guard already fights wildfires

I don’t know for the rest of Canada, but in Quebec, we have an organization that is only purpose is to deal with forests fire. The thing is that there is an unprecedented amount of fire. I work in forestry and we have never seen that much wild fire all over Quebec. Usually it’s more in one place but right now it’s all over the place. When I started going to work yesterday morning, the first thing I noticed when I went outside was this odd smell in the air. Like… not quite smoky, but just… off. Different. Then when I got in the car and started driving, I noticed the thick haze in the air, and I thought to myself: “Okay, WHAT is going on around here?” A few hours later, I learned from a friend that the haze was coming from the wildfires up in Canada.
It was just like that time when we saw the constant haze coming from the California wildfires two years ago… but it was much worse. And if the haze and air quality is bad, I dread to think about how bad it is up in Canada.
Please be safe, everyone!!

Malaysia used to be subjected to haze and smoke like this every year across the Malacca Straight from the island of Sumatra, Indonesia during the slash and burn season in July-August from 1996. Then the 2004 tsunami hit and they didn’t have enough ppl left to do it up to today. Of course it is very sad that people died in such a horrible, tragic way, some areas only 1/3 of the residents were left still alive, especially given most of their population lived along the inner coasts- right where the tsunami went through and destroyed everything. Now we do get haze occasionally but from wild peat fires rather than farming.
Which area of Malaysia would you say is safe from the haze? I'm asking because I'm planning to go there.
