Some background:
Tetris tournaments, and in particular Classic Tetris tournaments have a long-winded history, stemming back to the 1990 Nintendo World Championships, the event where Thor Aackerland showed off hypertapping for the first time. Ever since the Classic Tetris World Championships (CTWC) began in 2010, the community has become closer each year, and once the Classic Tetris Monthly was created in 2017, it had an ever-increasing online presence. Fractal is a apart of the new generation of Tetris prodigies, learning the rolling technique that top player Cheez invented with its purpose being to help increase piece movement for the killscreen. This tournament run showcases Fractal's mastery of the technique, with him fighting his way through some of the most absurd matchups the tournament format has ever produced.

Additional fact: Fractal was only favored to win one of his five matches: His set against Huff, with 50.8% odds. Is elo tougher to quantify for killscreen capable players, or was Fractal truly just so far ahead of the competition?

Rolling has more variance than Hypertapping, and Fractal is just a good player so the odds of him winning the event were still above 10%

@@ussgordoncaptain Fractal has won CTM before and was known as one of the elite players, he was a top 5 contender for certain before the tournament even started
His true odds were probably closer to 10% than 1%
He just had the best day of playing... Also seen that happen to sharky in his groups stage in i think 2021 where he almost made it to top 8 as a das player. This is especially more significant with rollers. Having a good rolling day where you are stacking so efficiently while also hitting high rolling speeds can get you an additional 100k or more points than you usually do.

That second to last game was so crazy... Lol Fractal got so lucky he survived and even he was stunned when he won that round lol. It was a ton of fun watching this competition.
Another amazing video. Fractal is quickly becoming my favorite Tetris player to watch. That dig against Dog on game 4 is still one of the most impressive things I've ever seen.

Its kind of a shame Alex T is likely gonna just roll full time soon his tapping is quite literally the best in the known world today and he is the only tapper in the world whop can equal and even sometimes surpass elite rollers on killscreen and get to level 36-40 on a somewhat frequent basis its extremely abnormal and impressive, the only other tapper who comes even close to that is Moja they are pretty much the only two tappers who can do that with Alex T being way ahead of him even.
Tapping put him in a handicap, looking forward to seeing how far he can go with rolling

can someone please explain to me what "elo" is?

tapping fast, whatever the context, isnt genetics. it's practice, experience and talent
you have to put in the time and do it in a way that's effective for you, including what youve learnt and things that naturally felt right
Did Cheez invent rolling?
He was the first to do it on a Nintendo controller. Other people such as Hector Fly had done it for the buttons on arcade cabinets, but that was rolling the fingers on a singular large button rather than on the bottom of a controller like Cheez does. He cites the inspiration for rolling to a similar technique to hit keys in quick succession on the piano, so while he didn't entirely "invent" it, he was the first to apply its use to a controller for a video game.

I wonder: do rollers ever have a problem with double-flips caused by rolling a finger at the exact time they start to press or depress A or B? Like, imagine you are pressing A, but while your finger is just halfway into pressing it, you get a really fast tap from a finger on the back of the controller, which causes a quick A press and release. Then you tap A for real, so it's a double flip.
Double flipping is a huge issue for rollers but it happens less over time as technique improves
the youtube algorithm is not beind kind, you should not have only 6k subcribers
2:53 that’s actually not true in nes Tetris there are only 256 levels in the game so if I remember with stack rabbit they got like 100 million points playing to 256

Such a one-sided, subjective view... I would personally say that it wasn't a deserved, nor was it a spectacular win by any means. Dog was just out of form in that match.
