Jerry, Linda, and Gizmo great show and interesting information. Our Design Meetings went well, we ordered our golf carts (we both went with gas), and did some furniture scouting in Leesburg and Ocala. We'll be back in The Villages in a couple weeks for our official Lifestyle Visit, to actually order our furniture, and to check on the progress of our house! Another good show. WOW the amenities went up again. Mine is $177.56 and you are saying it is going up again. It hasn't been a year for the last raise. When we first moved here 3 1/2 years ago it was 149. Have a wonderful week. Linda, hope you feel better.
Hi Jerry and Linda, A little while back you did a interview with singles in the villages... you did a follow up with one of them. Thank you for your time and great information. Hope you feel better Linda.
Another great show from Jerry and Linda. Hope Linda feels better soon. BTW, my great grandmother's name was Rebecca Fidella Halterman. I've never heard anyone else with the middle name of Fidella.
Great show, thanks to Linda for bearing through and the Gizmo jokes were fantastic today. Jerry is right on that Jesus does not care what you wear to church. Praise God for a beautiful family like yours that honors Him daily.
Linda, Do not ignore your cough. You need more than ‘old home remedies’. I’ve had chronic bronchitis and it can easily turn into pneumonia. Quite possibly your doctor will prescribe an inhaler to dry up your lungs. Something is going on in there and could get worse. Concerned, …Joe in NJ

TV may be getting larger but it still feels small to us we enjoy bebopping around in our GC, just like going for a drive when we were younger. Fees up but still lots of bang for the buck no regrets about living here.
Jerry I think both you and Linda could be newscasters. Another great show! A note regarding the “fun fee” increase based on inflation. Here is an illustration of the fee with a cola of 4% over a 20 year time frame $180 fun fee with inflation at 4% annually x 20 years = $394 monthly fee, (+|- 4700 annually) It may be best for present and future villagers to budget these increases into future years. Another area to budget would be the high taxes and bonds associated with new construction. Between the higher cost bonds ( 40k + on designer model homes), and high real estate tax due to price increases and city tax, some folks may be stunned with 7-9k tax bills on 400k homes. I know the price point of these taxes stunned me as these taxes are now eclipsing what we pay in Illinois ( second highest state for real estate taxes in the country).
HOA fees are never ending in subdivisions it’s awful there is no control but the money grabbing association fees . ridiculous ours was 250 and by the time we sold 475 which made no sense since we kept adding homeowners which should have helped with costs but only went up . no thanks
All that really says is that you would not want to follow the rules that you agreed to if you lived in an hoa complex. You seem to also be saying that if someone reported you for violating the rules that you agreed to… they are in the wrong.

You can absolutely live in the villages and not have a car! IF you live where there is infrastructure. Within a 20 minute golf cart ride we have 2 super Walmarts, Lowes, Belk, Target, etc.... Dozens and dozens of stores. The hospital itself, doctors, therapy, dentists, more restaurants than I can count, Lake Sumter and Spanish Springs squares. Do I need to keep going?? Yay for north of 466!!! I am not giving up my car (hopefully ever) but nice to know that if it is in the shop for example, it will not affect my world what so ever.
Love getting my Newcomer update every week! Take care of yourself Linda - I had a hacking cough like that before , and my neighbor suggested I take echinacea - it worked better than any of the over the counter pills. Put a guy in boots that had Cougar as his middle name and a woman I worked with gave her daughter the middle name of Cicada - she thought it was pretty - I thought of bugs! 9% increase - of course, after all we are going to get a big increase in SS - if you don't count the big increase in Medicare that will accompany it. Oh well, counting the days until my house gets sold and we can come find a new home.
Thank you for this week's video, it was great. I hope Linda will get better soon. I also have a lingering nasty cough from a two week summer cold. 10 days of antibiotics helped some, but I still have a noisy cough.
🤣😊😊 Love that canned laughter when Linda said “Are there 8 women to every man” Lol Thank you Linda & Jerry for the really hard work and time you both put into these videos! Love you both!
Linda, you should get that cough looked at. “Mucinex” used to be a script. Now you can buy it in the cough med aisle. It’s great stuff. Helps you expectorate ( cough up ) all that mucous which can settle in your lungs. Drink Lots of liquids to thin your cough. Rest, get better, please! (We all went to med school 🤣🤣)
Peter Bernard!! From one Tampa guy to another….. “come on up!!”. Now they really have to twist my arm to make the 90 minute drive back. So great up here.
The drive is straight down 75 (sometimes makes you want a Testla with auto drive), but really not that bad. The hardest adjustment to me was being 30 minutes from the interstate. But, you become adjusted. Greatest decision I have made!
The whole Villages area is big in size and population but every Village and neighborhood feels small town and NOT crowded. The individual Villages and neighborhoods have basically just locals driving in the streets- and not many of cars at that- more golf carts than cars most times. I can walk down the center of my street with my dogs anytime - day or night. I live in Fenney and love it!!!
Originally we thought it would be too big, but when broken down by neighborhood Village, then Village Recreation, Regional Recreation, and Town Squares we find it to be very manageable.

Re: Paying for amenities you don't use. The same as paying a school tax on your real estate taxes when you have no school age children. Answer. It's for the common good. Even though a resident might not use amenity. They get to enjoy the ambiance the amenity provides.
When I lived in my second floor Miami condo my "maintenance fee" was about $510... which included 8 elevators, one pool, and 2 tennis courts... none of which I ever used. Every 3-4 years there was an assessment of over $1,000 to "update" the elevators (kickback anyone?). I think the fees here are very reasonable.
Agree Lenny, I have never had kids, but have had to pay school taxes for all of my adult life, except in Cobb County, GA. There, once one of the homeowners reaches 65, the school taxes come off your homes' tax bill which is very nice
These wonderful people gave you 31 minutes of free entertainment & spent hours of their time making this video and the only thing you comment on is Jerry’s hair?! That’s really sad.
The only goal fixing a divot is to give the next guy a level green to play on. You did it fine from my 40 years of play. Kill the grass? Never heard that before.
Hum...lining up for swim class off season? That tells me they need to add a class and/or take sign up in advance. When I was young hated lining up for things...now as I get older hate it more...especially just for a swim class. Good show as usual...thanks.
@@JERRYANDLINDA Jerry, since the instructors are volunteers, (and from the sounds of it, some of the best ones are in their 80's) who takes over when they either decide to stop teaching or can't? Does TV have any paid or volunteer recreational staff at all other than golf instructors?🤔
Hey Jerry, Linda and Gizmo. Oh Linda. That cough. Hope you’re better. If not better soon see a doctor for X-rays; make sure it’s not pneumonia. Always love the shout outs. Wonderful pic of George and his wife. Amazing pics by the photographers. Always appreciate the blooper breaks. That’s the issue, everything goes up but salary; whether working or retirement funds. This is the world we live in 🤦♀️. Visiting Florida throughout the years, looks like a car is needed. When we retire in a few years we want to build. But honestly; with all the loop holes and hidden fees, I think we might have to buy a resale. We shall see. I’m so nervous of gators 🐊, snakes 🐍 and lizards🦎. Not to mention spiders 🕷. Living in Florida shall be interesting. I lived 7 years in the Poconos. Dealt with bears, deer, snakes, chipmunks and 🦨 skunk. I made it 😂. So will make it in Florida. Thanks for sharing and see you next video.
Regarding poison ivy, if is VERY prevalent anytime you do the airboat rides in the swamps. If you take an airboat ride, they will point it out. IF you have issues with poison ivy, I would be careful anytime you are in the swampy areas (preserves, nature trails, etc.)
Wonderful show . $183 for amenities yikes but if you use the stuff . We are headed for Amelia island instead of TV as TV is getting too large for us . Even at my gym the popular classes (Silver Sneakers) and water aerobics you have to get there early to get a spot as they only take thirty people… Linda have you seen the commercials where the Linda’s are talking about getting a lenda? I laugh every time and think of the Linda group down there. Can’t wait to see the video on Thursday! Will watch when waiting for my thyroid biopsy
Gizmo spent the whole show hugging on Jerry’s arm. Did you wear that shirt while cooking a spam sandwich before filming? Essence de Spam is an aphrodisiac. Seems it too tames the savage beast. Stay awesome!
Great show again, but how is Gizmo making out with the doggie ratio girls to boys. looking forward to thursday show, got a few spots my self need to check out and this will easy the anxiety. Lets start some resturant reviews of the area.
Jerry and Linda, We’re considering a move to TV next year. It seems that there are miles of contiguous pedestrian/bike paths that goes from Chitty Chatty to Citrus Grove and perhaps ultimately to the 3 new Villages south of Citrus Grove. Are there any comparable long pathways to walk, run or bike elsewhere in TV? Thx in advance, Tim and Dave
Have you tried Fishermens friends for cough drops? It’s a little hard to find in the United States but it’s the only one that stops me from coughing so much. Sometimes coughing is good because it brings up phlegm when you need it but sometimes you can’t so much it’s hurt your lungs. Most of the other cough drops have lots of sugar and they don’t do anything for me and Fishermans friend most of them don’t have sugar and they are strong but they work and they’re from England and no I’m not have anything to do with the company. but I used to live overseas instead of just coming in one flavor the original they also came in black current, licorice, raspberry and some other flavors without sugar. I don’t know why in the United States everything has sugar practically even items that you wouldn’t think have sugar in them such as Ketchuk.
@@genxx2724 yes Many like Ricola but for me I find that Fishermans friend works better. It almost is too strong but it’s only thing that keeps me from coughing if I have one of those kind of coughs that really hangs on.
Remember: the inflation is only "transitory" -- I'm sure the amenity fee will come back down 🤪😉 Thanks for going the extra mile this week -- much appreciated 🖖🏻
As a history teacher, you'd probably be interested to learn that a woman named Dorcas Hoar was an accused witch during the Salem witch trials. The executions ended before she could be put to death, so she was one of the few convicted to survive. She is a direct ancestor to actress Jean Smart according to a fascinating episode of "Who do you think you are". On the satellite dishes. I thought a federal law was passed that community associations could not prevent reasonable accommodation of satellite dishes. On amenity fees. Do they only increase them annually based on a particular date, or can they be adjusted at any time? Thank you for another great episode.
Nice to hear that the golf nazis are keeping you in line. Reason no. 295 why I have no desire to golf. Can you update everyone on the plans for the new Super Walmart in the Village of
That is lousy that they raise fees without warning or only doing it in smaller increments. So you have trash pickup 2 times a week, but what about recyclable materials?

Hum...lining up for swim class off season? That tells me they need to add a class and/or take sign up in advance. When I was young hated lining up for things...now as I get older hate it more...especially just for a swim class. Good show as usual...thanks.
Classes can be added, but the leaders are volunteers. You'd have to find a good person willing to commit.
@@JERRYANDLINDA yes I get the staffing issues especially if they are volunteers. Water classes are great.
Always great comments, Cydney!
Great show I really enjoyed it!
Another great show!!
Regarding poison ivy, if is VERY prevalent anytime you do the airboat rides in the swamps. If you take an airboat ride, they will point it out. IF you have issues with poison ivy, I would be careful anytime you are in the swampy areas (preserves, nature trails, etc.)
I have an unusual name for you. My great grandmother was originally from Iowa and moved to Spokane. Her name was Rhua!
Ms linda ...have you ever made spam fried rice..looking for a yummy recipe..thank you
Take care, Linda. Another great video!!!!
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
The show came out great, even if it took 3 tries! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great show again, but how is Gizmo making out with the doggie ratio girls to boys. looking forward to thursday show, got a few spots my self need to check out and this will easy the anxiety. Lets start some resturant reviews of the area.
Jerry and Linda,
We’re considering a move to TV next year.
Gizmo makes my Mondays 🥰
Thanks!
Thank you so much! We really appreciate it!🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Hi from NJ what’s happening there with the roofs and insurance companies concerning the 55+ communities.
"A Grandmother Name Clyde", sounds like a country song title by Ray Stevens.
Remember: the inflation is only "transitory" -- I'm sure the amenity fee will come back down 🤪😉
Thanks for going the extra mile this week -- much appreciated 🖖🏻
It won't.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for the information. We think they can only increase them once a year.
You can put up a satellite dish or antenna according to the FCC as long as it wont blow away. IDK what the Villages might have to say about it.
Goodness, Gizmo was snuggling into you so much today. He's adorable.
I liked the heroic pictures of Linda
Nice to hear that the golf nazis are keeping you in line. Reason no. 295 why I have no desire to golf. Can you update everyone on the plans for the new Super Walmart in the Village of
👍. Happy MBM!
That is lousy that they raise fees without warning or only doing it in smaller increments.
So you have trash pickup 2 times a week, but what about recyclable materials?
Will amity fees go down if CPI goes down ? I highly doubt it.
Will Social Security go up 9%? Heck no! Can't keep up with the crazy increases in everything.
Please hold Gizmo when he is asking. Like he is now
