What a beautiful wreck! Out of my training depth, so I’m glad to see it through your eyes. Lots of marine life on and around it! 🐟🐠

I dove it on air in the late 80’s several times! It was awesome. Lots of lines and ropes. Several hogs at the time

Did you ever, or hear of another diver, have trouble finding a staged deco bottle during a dive?

    • @InternationalScubaDiversClub

Usually tec divers are very careful when staging tanks. Normally, you won't stage a gas that is breathable at that depth (not valid for cave divers) and you only stage if the tank is on the exit route. As a rule, also, if the diver is not familiar with the dive site (wreck in this case), staging is not recommended.
Now, with this in mind, I haven't run into anyone that couldn't find it. -- knocking on wood 🪵 --
The only similar situation was on Spiegel Grove, where there was a recreational divers group that "found" the tank and brought it back to their boat. That tank obviously belonged to a tec diver that was amidst his/her dive, but the DM jumped in the water right away and redeployed the tank. Thankfully nothing major happened.
FINAL Note: As part of the dive plan, divers should plan for lost deco bottle too.
      *Welcome to the channel*!

@@InternationalScubaDiversClub the Spiegel grove incident is what i was thinking. Inexperienced open water diver thinking he or she has made a great find. Ive even heard of the same type of diver finding a reel tied off outside a wreck and thinking someone must have forgot it!! Great video by the way. Love your stuff!

right! so, a big "it depends" is in order... whenever there is a mix of divers, a mix of dive teams or you just don't know everyone on the boat (different missions/objectives) extra care is needed!!!
Thanks for your words and dropping by!!!!
NOTE: always start your line a couple of feet inside the wreck, so no one will find the reel! lol
