Chauny hasn’t seen Caitlin play?? We need to make that happen!!
The hypocrisy of the Paige situation really bothers me. Why are we fighting the over coverage of white players with over coverage of another white player? It bothers me on a basketball level, but also the “activism” piece. I literally saw someone say she gets hate because she’s a “consistent ally to black women.” Like, I’m sorry, I forgot white women are really the biggest victims of racism. (Also… consistency where? Haven’t really heard anything from since that speech which was a few years ago at this point)
Though I do agree that the racism free discourse will be nice, even though that ally aspect will be annoying

Paige said the media could do a better job covering Black players who make up 80% of the top achievements but receive less than 50% of the coverage. The next year, Aliyah Boston won the same ESPY award Paige did and wasn't even invited to the ESPYs until there was an outcry (which included Paige supporting AB).
Paige never said she didn't deserve coverage or white players shouldn't be covered. She said coverage should be spread more across top performing players instead of focusing on just one.

@@decere_b3652 she cant help the amount of attention she gets and its nice she said something, but the fact of the mater is-- it's just words. it didnt really do anything besides assuade people. paige still gets the premature deals (with zero discourse) and the spotlight and the money. i dont think its so much hypocrisy on paiges end (she's a well intentioned young adult) as it is on people's reaction to paige and her past sentiments. we dont need to endlessly praise a white woman for meaningless albeit well intentioned allyship, it distracts from the actual issue. and it is praise that is resentful of someone else, its not really praise that exists in a vacuum. who does that help and what does that do besides perpetuate further meaningless discourse?

@@decere_b3652 Paige isn’t the only player to point this out - black players in the league have been saying this for year. So, why is she getting all the credit for pointing out the discrepancy? Additionally, the media has gone back to hyper focusing on her and she doesn’t seem to have an issue with it

That is a valid point to question what is Paige's potential:
Clark beat Paige's 5 year career highs in points + assists within like her first 10 games as a freshman. Paige has yet to match her highs in scoring or assisting since her freshman year (pre-injury) and so you have to question if she's really as good as they claim.
Some are claiming she's an elite PG, but her career highs since that 14 and 12 assists games were basically 9. She's been unable to get 10 assists despite playing like 60+ games since. Hailey Van Lith got 10 assists no problem 4 games in and she don't really even play PG on her team. Nika Muhl got 10 assists many times as well. So, you can't really claim it is the system at fault or the team around them cannot shoot. You can argue that rationally Paige has played 5 years in college as a Shooting Guard or Forward at times due to Geno using her in different situations. I just don't see her as a "PG" that can break down a defender and create an opportunity for a teammate to get an open "pass" for a layup or some other example--I see her maybe getting a swing pass to an open corner 3 shooter, but nothing else shows it this year or last year or the years in-between that. In terms of examples: Miles can get those assists. In fact, she got 10 assists first game of the year. She's gotten 10 - 14 assists like a dozen times already. Paige hasn't been able to reach that figure since her freshman year, and she's only done it twice.
Therefore, she cannot be an elite PG if her "passing" role isn't able to be defined for the past 4 years. She's surrounded by talented players that can all make shots every single lineup, so as a defacto (PG) she ought to be able to assist and pass because she's forcing double teams or help defenders to swarm her since she's the best player in the country... Right? However, it doesn't reflect that way at all and she's rarely even holding the ball in games nowadays and it seems that Sarah Strong is the one that gets that ball in that situation instead.
Unfortunately for Paige, she's not a scorer either... Paige's best is 34 points. That's like a made FG better than Clark's senior year average and 1 less point than Clark's career high vs the WNBA level. Juju scored 50 points and 40 points a few times. She did it through the Free Throw line. Clark does it from the 3 point line. What does Paige do? Mid range shots, mostly. She would need to take and make 20+ to reach a 40 point game. She's got that Demar Derozen skillset with her scoring, but he can at least bait and drag out some fouls. He scored his highest value of 52, but his best games were in OT anyway. His regular season high was 45, without OT. Other elite "scorers" can give you 50+ no problem. When they go, they go off. Paige is basically like him. She can make 10+ shots for about 20 points in a game. It'll come from mid range and long 2 range. She's got that supportive scoring and ultimately can't take over a game with just her scoring.
She's not an all-rounder either since she's never gotten a single triple double in her career. She barely gets 10 rebounds or 10 assists anyway. People love to argue she's got "defensive" potential and such, but she's honestly not entirely proven by that. Her years at UCONN had her playing alongside elite defenders that played better defense than her. They're WNBA draftees. In terms of competition, her conference isn't in the power 5 and UCONN's got some of the easiest SOS of any big name school in the country. Paige's conference barely even is able to field 2 or 3 teams in the NCAA tournament. That means, the top 70 teams of whatever something aren't even in UCONN's conference. So can you really claim she's "elite" playing against no-names that aren't even focused on basketball or will never see WNBA action? Is her playing against UCONN players in practice proof that she's all people make her out to be?
Her NCAA tournament run history is basically as follows:
Year 1: 3 games shooting under 40% 1 game shooting under 45% and the Round of 64 she shot 66%
Highest scoring outburst was 28 points, 18 points vs IOWA and Arizona. Her highest assists was 8, and she wasn't even the top assister on her team vs IOWA when she got it. Other games, she had 4, 0, and 4, and 6 in the R-64 match. Judging by her numbers, even with the talent around her, she wasn't really carrying them through the NCAA tournament shooting 40% or worse with like 4 assists and scoring around 20 PPG.
Year 2: She had a big game vs NCSU though where she scored 27 in OT and had 67% shooting. Outside of that, it wasn't special at all... gave them 2 to 4 assists, shot better at like 42% for the other games, and gave them like 13 PPG. Wasn't carrying material at all--and you can argue "she was recovering from her injury" all you want, but it is what it is.
She's gotten 2 good games vs NCAA teams, with like 11 attempts. This doesn't make her a player that can carry the load much.
Year 3 (Last Year): she definitely had great scoring going on this year with 28, 32, 24, 28, and then 17 vs IOWA when they lost. But she had 10 total assists her last 3 games. 6 and 7 were her highest, and they were mostly the first 2 rounds. Her efficiency was less than 50% last three games (around 43%), which were the deeper runs against the better teams anyway.
And now we're waiting for what the team will do her 5th year in college come NCAA tournament. Is her best NCAA tournament game gonna be a USC 48% for 28 points with 10 rebounds game or a NCSU game where she had 27 points shooting 67% to help them in OT? Only she can write her story, but as far as I can tell this doesn't paint her in the "she's the greatest ever" player ever with her having 6 of 16 good games in the NCAA tournament. Most of them falling in line with the R-64 games against inferior competition though. 3 of 13 against teams beyond the Round of 64 is not a great record--it makes her seem like she doesn't show up in the big games when it matters most. Can she have an amazing run this year? Maybe... Maybe she can have a Caitlin Clark type run where she's getting triple doubles back-to-back to carry them to the Championship game or something... But yeah, it seems unlikely since she's never even gotten one to date and only has 2 games of 10 or more assists. She's not giving them 30+ a night since her one time scoring 32 was her highest ever in the NCAA tournament and most of the other games are around the 23 range on average (if we're not including the year they made it to the nationals where she barely got over 13 PPG) so I just don't see her convincing anybody.
She has to prove to people that she's that player--which she's yet to do so. If she joins Dallas, then people need to accept that she's basically a better version of Jacy Sheldon (someone that gave a team like 15 PPG + 5 APG in the NCAA tournament but never made it past Elite 8) with a better prowess for scoring a few baskets. Jacy turned into a 6 PPG type of player in the WNBA though. Is Paige going to be a 11 PPG type of player? Could be. Jacy scored 20+ in a game though, so it's entirely possible for someone like Paige to become Arike's backup plan in the corner next year. It will be a tall order for her to legitimately become the "next" Caitlin Clark though--if ever... Her goals should be to try and get at least numbers of 12 PPG or better at first.

What the hell are you saying? Not much of anything specific imo. You need to see it?! What the heck do you need to see. You are blaming her for the world not taking what she said at the espys and changing immediately? She said a truth and tried to use her moment to give some grace for the bias in women's sports. What else do you want her to do? Now you say you haven't seen her play. Do you live under a rock? You like Clark better. Ok thats your opinion. You think she has dog in her. Great. Honestly I think Clark is more like a Brett Farve or Russell Westbrook or a James Harden. Gunslingers, stat hogs and just want to huck the ball around for style points. Led the league by a large margin in turnovers and a measly 34% from 3. Wow what an elite player? Plays no defense seemingly on purpose. Gets no critique for it. I don't hate Clark. She is dynamic, good handles and can hit really long exciting threes (but is it worth it) but damn fans are ridiculous in their praise. She has been shut down and had many a clunker game efficiency wise and probably lost some games because of her DOG mentality (taking shots she shouldn't) and you want to say the smart player that dishes when she doesn't have a good shot doesn't have dog in her. She has won many a game in clutch moments time and time again. Get out of here. Haters gotta hate.

The wings future success is highly dependent on the coach they choose bc that can change there offense to where everyone eats. That coaching job got alot more desirable. Dallas needs better bigs particularly ones that play defense. The players that bib didnt sign, ty harris etc, you have PB now who not only will be a better PG she'll be a FAR better offensive PG. At the very least PB will come in and get at least 14 or 15 ppg 5 or 6 assists and 5 rebounds on decent efficiency which is great for Dallas. Like lets be real, shes on a team with a player thats top 5 in usage rate and another player thats top 15 to 10 in usage rate. They should be at least be a 7th seed. Arike plays WAY better off ball than on ball after the break she really only had like at most 3 bad games, everyone else not so much. Kiki isnt going to go #1 because Kiki is not on PB's level she isnt having a wonderful to make her go #1 over PB what is Chauny talking about bro, lmao?

@Matthew-xl5bc Why trade Hamby if she's already established and she's an all-star and she's a champion. I get KiKi is young, but they don't have a coach yet to help develop her. You already have Azura Stevens who is a good piece for them. I think KiKi needs to go to the Valykaries where is a new franchise, new coach and she can be that piece that can help build the team around.
