- Episode 92 - Tonight we wander through the Slate River Forest Reserve, a beautiful and diverse 10,000 acre forest in Baraga County. The property was purchased by The Nature Conservancy in 2021. TNC Forest Managers give us a tour of this working forest and tell us about some of their forest management plans for timber harvesting, carbon sequestration, old growth and more.

I always thought a nature preserve, was forever protected?? Was that way in lower Michigan, they didn't even want you to pick mushrooms or berries, now it's just saved for cutting timber??
This one is a “reserve” instead of a preserve. They have 50,000 acres in reserves across the UP. Not sure how many preserves.
