My ex-husband was/is a mama's boy, and it wasn't until we had kids that o realized just how much I carried him and managed everything. Very sad and hard reality. Thankfully, he's in our boys' lives, and I'm in a balanced marriage now. Two self-sufficient partners is a MUST! It is very traumatic to have an adult dependent.

In my dating past, I've attracted the mama's boy, the complainer, and those resistant to change. One man displayed characteristics from multiple categories, including a super-sized ego bordering on narcissism. I've encountered men claiming to be Christian and leaders but lacking good morals and high character, along with poor money management skills. Back in 2021, it became evident that I needed to take a pause, step back, and explore why I was attracting these types of men.
Men who do not desire marriage also popped up on my radar. I believe that marriage-minded men reveal the good morals and high character that I'm looking for, unlike men in their 40s and 50s, who've never been married. I genuinely appreciate this list of men to avoid and all the perspectives from the panel! The episode offered valuable lessons, and I truly support Dr. Tartt and Mrs. Tartt. A huge thanks to Ryan and Tysean for showcasing an outstanding group of community leaders!

I think there's very limited self accountability amongst many of us women so the easiest thing to do is to label every single man that does us wrong as a narcissist. When you deal with a true narcissistic person... There's NO doubt about it lol. There definitely aren't as many out there as it's made to believe.

Please know there are different types of Narcissists and many do ask questions in the beginning in order to deceive you. It is not just about considering a future being in the Narcissist's shadow it is about knowing that you will be with someone that WILL abuse you. Narcs no matter the type have little to no empathy

The most dangerous guy I’ve come across is the “charmer”. Sweet, kind, takes you on dates, brings you around the friends and family, honest about where they are, aloof at times, may have characteristics like the “shark”, but they plays the long game. He makes you feel special. When it ends you can still be friends even though he was playing mind games🤷🏽‍♀️ the “good guy” persona comes to mind.

    THERE IS A #8!!
I'll call him "The Settler". Hebus marriage-minded to a fault. That fault is they want you only or mostly because they need you! He usually has a lot to offer, e.g. financial security, family-oriented, takes care of his elderly mama, handsome ...the whole nine. But he maybe has gotten a health scare or something that he scared to go forward without a wife. Yes usually older (60's). Looking for nurses or established marriage-minded women to care for him physically. But he is not showing any signs of his physical problems yet.

I feel like the mommas boy has so many levels to it. Because a mommas boy can also hate his mother or never had a nurturing mother so he seeks one in every woman he meets. If a man asks you for money, he’s a mommas boy..he may not be able to rely on his mother, but he needs a woman to nurture and guide him.

To all the narcissist abuse survivors - pay no attention to this lady. She doesn’t know what she talking about. Just because you’re married to a doctor doesn’t make you one. And just because he is a doctor, it doesn’t mean he specializes in narcissistic abuse. If he did, he wouldn’t have let her come up here with that weak description of what a narcissist is. Most narcissists try to extract information from you when they first meet you so they can fine tune their abuse and destruction plan. Further, if there aren’t that many narcissists as she claims, then why was it number one on her list? Again, anyone with any real knowledge about this personality disorder would know that narcs are the least likely disorder to seek help which is why the stats are so low and because they have zero accountability. And they always have multiple victims at one time because they are desperately trying to numb their pain by causing pain around the clock. So it’s not about how many there are - it’s about how many people they’ve made their victims. It’s already enough that narcissists gaslight their victims into thinking they’re crazy and that they weren’t abused - we don’t need people like this telling victims they weren’t dealing with abuse.
Stay strong and remember no one can take away or discount your experience. You’re a survivor ✊🏽

I was married to a mommas boy. We was together for 7 years, I left because I was tired of carrying the weight of the relationship. I was tired of being the blame for everything. I got tired of always having to fix it all. And your right about being what you attract, I am a caretaker at heart and in my career and now in school to be a therapist. So it’s a natural thing for me attract projects. Ladies its cute in the beginning to feel needed and loved because someone wants you without a shadow of a doubt, but it will eventually wear off because it’s draining.

Hey, to the pediatric dentist: Hey Doc, impressed to look you up while watching this. I’ll have to tell my brother about you, in the event he needs a place for his grandkids to go. I live in the greater Chicago area, but I have plenty of family in your area. I even looked at your parody video you did with the kids. That was cool Doc. 😆Brotha to brotha, you’re all out, Story was encouraging, because I’m actually a somewhat older guy, rebuilding my life.

This concept of mama's boy is strikingly different from what we considered mama's boys when I was dating in the 90s. That mama's boy was more like the one resistant to change because his mama did it like this... or she thought he was perfect as he is.

Some of the information in these 7 can be very useful as long as you naturally have your feminine essence while doing, so but if you’re not careful, some of these can create a hard exterior and take you completely out of your feminine and you won’t know it but some good men will. You’re not going to enjoy the natural flow of getting to know one another because you’re fishing trying to disqualify. If a person is nice to you, check a few of your boxes value the same things and you feel yourself assuming it’s a manipulation, tactic or ulterior motive behind it you probably shouldn’t be dating right now. Not everybody is out to get you.
If you want the Ring/ Longevity you have to understand the mission, and how to be an asset and if you want to follow a leader, you have to understand how to not always be in control.

Mama’s boys are really hard. Wow!! She was on it with that……it is very difficult…….to be with a mama’s boy. She done read my whole book. My ex husband was a mama’s boy. I bought cars. She is right you do ignore the red flags 🚩

Hearing the story of Ty’s college friend who was so bum that he didn’t even get a lawyer for the divorce - that man needs therapy. He needs deep deep therapy with his former caregivers as well.

Of all of the types of men mentioned, I ha e the most difficulty understanding the shark. I mean I get enjoying the chase and even the feeling of accomplishment when you "get" the person you want BUT never wanting to keep them makes me wonder if that kind of man really likes women. Notches on belts gives me "something to do and brag to my male friends about but much more enjoy and rather spend time with my male friends" energy.

To keep relationship/marriage people need to lower their standards. Everyone wants best of the best but failed to understand that they’re bottom of the food chain on others list.

I think women are really coming into the knowledge that they have the power of choice in relationships; that’s everything is not up to the man in the relationship, dating, etc. I don’t believe it is always a conscious decision of not taking accountability.

I would like to add: your best bet is meeting someone in college, if you attended college. Just like the Dr said meeting at Howard. Ya best bet is meeting a like minded person in those early years. If ya dating pool is the general population you are bound to meet these type of people..
