The compass will "malfunction" because other people are using magnets that point it at the wrong direction.

compass can be useful, it just takes time to get used to, since it takes a while to activate and you have to stray from the crowd. in maze you can use the compass triangulate the position of the super if youre a nerd
i think the best option for maze is to use compass first, and if a mob seems to be close you might want to stray from the crowd to see if it is a super as it doesnt hurt too much
but yeah usually it is just random

For the compass, it’s not pointing in the right direction because:
1. Trollers with Magnets (unless if you have a Super compass)
2. The Ultra Compass updates once every 4 seconds (I think) so the Ultra/Super might have moved a significant amount during these 4 seconds. This won’t be as much of a problem with Super Compasses since it updates every 2 seconds.

The compass is affected by magnet so if you or another player has magnet equipped near the compass then it will point towards the magnet

compass actually DOES work, if someone with magnet comes near the compass, it will point towards the compass so if you want to use compass just move far away from people
