    Great video on the install! Same issues as others for the cradle. The floor needs a little persuading to get it to sit right, but does not take long if you have a trusty BFH. Some additional notes for others. The method used here is by far the best way to install the rear end, but there should be a mention that the lower link do not allow for adjustment in the standard version of the 4 link, but there are double adjustable version available that do. The rear end will need to be centered left to right with either kit. There is still side to side movement, but the fore and aft are locked in placed by the lower link (standard non adjustable links) and as already mentioned in the video, set the pinion angle.

    You are % 1000 correct! The "cradle" does NOT fit, I had all the same exact issues.My car is factory, un touched. Ridetech's answer..It's your cars fault. I went round and round with them on the phone and in emails. I finally exchanged the cradle for a non painted one and those 2 little tabs were left unwelded. I will massage the new cradle and make it fit. One things is for sure, they missed the mark bigtime.

    Thank you, I had the same issues but with your guidance I was able to sharpie it out then use my BFH to adjust the floor panels and it fit like a charm. You saved me much time which I appreciate.

      Glad the video was able to help! They say you can't fix stupid, but we believe that with a BFH ... you can!!! 🙂

    I just installed the cradle last week and also had to beat the crap out of the floor. Eventually cut a slit in the floor above the cradle and hammered it back farther since I couldn't create enough space for the cradle to fit correctly otherwise. I will now have to weld up the floor again but the cradle sits perfect.

    I am trying to install it in a 68 Camaro that is 100% factory and has never been wrecked. The cradle hit in all of the same spots. I hate to beat up such a nice floor. Very frustrating. Thank you for your video.

    I was going to order that set up for my 69 Camaro but I found a much better kit from Chris Allstons, it’s called the G link, perfect fit and superior craftsmanship also looks better, another thing I don’t like about ridetec is the position of the coil overs, they are placed way too low, about 2.5 inches away from hitting the ground, Chris Alston’s have more clearance, about 5” away from the ground and It has the option for a nice sway bar. It’s a little more money but worth it.

    I just didnone of these. In my case the whole car was restored with aftermarket sheet metal. That said, I had the exact same issue as you did.
    Their jig likely sucks.
    I also used wood lol
    Had I seen your video before I started it would have went smoother for sure.

    I don't get it....how do you determine how far forward or aft the cradle sits?

    • @TheProficientPilot
      @TheProficientPilot  2 роки тому

      That part is straight forward, the mounts on the front and back set the position - they just need a bit of "adjustment" to there respective angles to get the cradle to sit flush with the frame.

    I’m possibly doing this shortly but just wish the coil overs didn’t stick down so low.

    Enjoyed the video and I am thinking about getting one of these kits for my 69 Camaro but am curious about exhaust over the rear axel clearance? Have you gotten that far or are you dumping exhaust before the rear diff? Thank you!

    • @TheProficientPilot
      @TheProficientPilot  Рік тому

      Yes this is a problem. I am sure it can probably be done - however I don't see any practical way to get a 2.5" exhaust over the axel with a four link in a F body. You most certainly would have to play erector set with a builders exhaust kit with very minimal clearance.
      The four link components sit close to the ground anyway - so there is enough room to run the exhaust under the axel and still stay above the bottom of the four link - I used a transverse muffler from Flowmaster in order to get the muffler up higher in the car. I really dont see a great solution to this issue.

    A couple things. It’s 8 1/2 inches from axle to floor and its 10.15 inches NOT 10.5 inches.

    Hey Captain, when installing the cradle, did the front tube of the cradle touch the body of the car (as the instructions mention)? Mine is about 1/2 inch or less from touching the body.

    • @TheProficientPilot
      @TheProficientPilot  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Warren - I asked my friend who is doing the restoration your question. Have you watched all of the videos? He explains the problems we ran into. Here is his response: "I specifically address in the pro tip video that both the front and back tubes interfere with the body/floors- Does the cradle fit with no gaps on the sides where it goes against the unibody - I would assume he has a gap if the front tube is stood off. - if he doesn't cut the original pinion snubber off and grind it back it will stand that tube off as well."

    Any gain on wheel clearance without mini tubbing?

  • @kavinskysmith4094
    @kavinskysmith4094 9 місяців тому

    jesus with all this agro they should just have the option to install it at their factory, and you would think they would have taken this and tested it on 4 separate cars to make sure they didnt miss anything, as what jig did they use, one ment for a tubbed drag race car, and bolt in if you have to wield aint bolt in lol
