In the 1980's they were still calling themselves Wahhabis until the early 90's because Nasiruddin Al Albani said that they should call themselves Salafis. Albani encouraged the title Salafi for them to use for themselves.

Yes they hide books , mistranslate, and take whole parts out of books. They also weaken hadith that go against them , hadith Wich part scholars had already authenticated.
