    Excuse the wet hair. It is such a mess as it dries, but I had already videoed it once and lost the footage. 😅 I figured messy hair was better than nothing. 🤦‍♀️

    Megan, you are so fun to listen to regarding rabbit feeding. I love how much information you pack into every video. Keep up the good work and keep informing the public about this vital farming and homesteading staple. I have been breeding and feeding rabbits for 8 years and I have learned a ton from you.

      @@LivingtheHightLife I loved your book about feeding rabbits natural, whole food. You explain things in concise, practical details and I was happy to incorporate many of your ideas. My rabbits are healthier for it!

    Thank you for this informative video! I've read so much about how rabbits have sensitive guts, but I never knew why you shouldn't make sudden changes between foods.

      Very good info.
      I keep chickens with my bunnies in a large run. Wired under the ground so no escaping.
      Sometimes my bunnies eat the chicken food. Which is soaked grains. Sunflower seeds, oats, wheat, peas, and flax. What are your thoughts on that?
      They also get pellets, which they barely touch, and tons of greens from my garden. I was feeding apples and the dreaded carrots which I will now stop. Thank you.
      They get plantain, dandelions, lettuce, kale, broccoli, comfrey, tomatoes, grass, and apple branches.
      I give them fermented alfalfa..what are your thoughts on that?
      Thanks a bunch..

      The crazy feed prices are one of the main reasons we got away from rabbit pellets. They are just too high!

    A lot of breeders will recommend BOSS, which isn't a great option in hot weather. Being high in fat, BOSS will go rancid rather quickly, BUT a 50 lbs bag of BOSS can be fed as seeds in cool weather, and then planted to make sunflower microgreens, for both bunnies and your own kitchen

      We feed BOSS year round without issue. I have never had any do rancid, but they are stored in a Rubbermaid tote under the camper. Maybe that keeps them cool enough.

      @LivingtheHightLife can I ask how much BOSS per rabbit or whatever, you feed?? I bought a big ass bag and somewhere said "one to three kernels every few days" 😳

    thanks for the video! what approximate quantity of forage /grain/seeds does one rabbit get daily. do you feed multiple times a day?

    • @LivingtheHightLife
      @LivingtheHightLife  Рік тому +5

      I just feed in the evening. If they only get fresh foods that day, it is about a gallon of fresh foods per mature adult. When they get seeds or grains, they get about a tablespoon of each per mature rabbit. If they get Alfalfa pellets, they get about half a cup. I scale back the fresh greens when I give any seeds, gains, or Alfalfa pellets.
      They always have grass hay available to balance out their diet as needed.

    can the eat poke weed?

    • @LivingtheHightLife
      @LivingtheHightLife  Рік тому +1

      No. I mention pokeweed in my book Feeding Meat Rabbits for Free on page 26. Pokeweed contains toxic levels of glycosides. Similar to Lily of the Valley, tulips, ginseng, and licorice.
