Great cold and realistic video Alex! We've had quite a bit of snow lately and high winds. Glad to see you catch that skip jack. Thank you for always keeping it realistic Alex!
Alex, you rule and bring greatness and happiness to this world and to everyone having a shit day, you bring lite. Keep doing what you’re doing man. Always great seeing a new video from you
Short term memory and fishing do not go well together, how big was that last one in bucket as she measures it behind your back, just one more- then we can go,and half a bucket later she's mad you can't count.. ah the life of a fishing widow..
That noise you heard on the reel was the line roller bearing. On the bail where the line runs across that round part, add a drop of oil to it, and it will quiet down again. If you keep your reels oiled at least once a month, they should stay quiet for a while. And I can't wait for trout season either man! I was watching your older trout videos and realized I had fished that spot before. Hopefully I run into ya and I can meet you one day Alex! As always, Keep It Realistic!
Have you ever seen Adam royter how to cast a spinning reel? Hahah it came up on my your you page 1 year ago and I haven’t casted a spinning reel the same since. Anyone who comes across this comment hopefully same goes for you as well. Nice video realistic fishing I’m going creek fishing tomorrow high 46. 😅
Passed by one of my spots today during lunch, saw some bluegill schooling up, might actually be able to catch some if I can make an hour or two this weekend to get out there before the rain
"ra-pala" sounds more high falutin so I say it that way. Some of the best I do each year is in the winter here in Idaho. Some of it is weather, but I think it is mostly due to the lower stress on the fishing holes.
Alex you may have a better ultralight experience with a slightly pricier rod made of mostly graphite instead of glass so you don’t have to worry about it whipping around on you 😎
In high winds on the columbia river gorge i have had to step as far left as possible and cast from my rear to left in a barely rising arc to get a rapala j5 or h5 to go 30 feet on a ultralight 7 footer for late spring small/largemouths chasing smelt-salmon smolts down stream. It might help you from the opposite side as a left handed rod caster, first 12-15 casts would be off camera for sure just teaching self..i can get 35-40 foot directly into winds constant of 38mph with gusta up to 51mph on the brush choked pillar rock banks i fish off for food due to no min size or max limit to reduce predating bass and walleye there..a 22-26 inch smallie on ultralight makes it far more likely to throw a hook than perish in a pan but the moments the fish has been on are why i come back to try again, deliscious eating of the few that can be landed without swimming in after are ambrosia that caps the childish glee of connecting on 4lb line..enjoy a warm drink and warmer thoughts of "next time" thank you for "! Being a realistic fisher!!"
I love your videos that's exactly the same kind of conditions I have to fish in and circumstances you do keep it realistic it might get 57 tomorrow I'm going to have to get out I did real good with the little white jig and a teeny-weeny little bobber I got eight crappies off of that thing one day😊
I've learned so much from you, so I feel weird making this comment. It seems like you are fishing it pretty quickly, but I've learned when it gets cold I need to slow down my retrieval speed if I want to hook a bass. Just an idea! Secondary to that, do you ever get enough ice in TN for some ice fishing? Thanks for the videos, keep them coming!
A 15 incher will put a smile on a face after grinding for a while. There doesn't seem to be any industry standard regarding rod power. Floppiness, or the lack thereof, is different in ultralights depending on brand. It's annoying. The louder, the better with those reels - if only because so many people get riled about it.
Do fish bite when it's cold? Hmmmm. Lemme think. Northern Wisconsin, late January, lakes iced over some 20 inches and straight temperature -26F. Whadda ya think? YES! We caught fish. And some nice ones too 😁 I'd post pics but UA-cam doesn't allow.
In cold weather you don't want to work it aggressively, you want to more so suspend the bait popping it periodically to resemble a dying bait fish , dying bait fish don't move erratically. Just think resemble real life scenarios will always work best and every condition calls for a unique presentation and method . Jerk baits also work better in a boat or kayak where you can stand and work it in deeper waters .
Thank you for braving the cold to bring us another Realistic fishing day. Great video Alex.
Great cold and realistic video Alex! We've had quite a bit of snow lately and high winds. Glad to see you catch that skip jack. Thank you for always keeping it realistic Alex!
Every time I fish near trees, I always catch the tree...lol.🙂
Thanks, Alex for braving the elements. Glad to see you catch at least one fish. Good luck with the rod
One is much better than none! Keeping it realistic! Thanks Alex!
Thanks for showing us that even in cold weather you can catch fish. You are a brave fisherman Alex.
Skipjack to the rescue! That was a good Skipjack.
Tough fishing times, trout fishing I'm looking forward this Monday, also loved those two white bass you and ifish caught. 👍
Whew what a relief! For a while there it looked like frozen skunk for dinner 😊 Thanks for hanging tough, Alex!
That "Last Cast" always takes forever and is the hardest thing to do every time you go out.
I’m glad you said one more cast lol. Nice skipjack Alex
That skipjack came zooming in to be on the show!! Wooooooo weeeeeeeeeee
Thanks For Keeping it Realistic!
This channel is therapeutic. Go get em!
Alex, you rule and bring greatness and happiness to this world and to everyone having a shit day, you bring lite. Keep doing what you’re doing man. Always great seeing a new video from you
Glad to see you pull one in. I was in the woods this morning at 20 degrees!
I swear all fisherman say one more after one more
Thats right! 😅
"You said 'one more' a half hour ago." - my wife.
Fisherman’s “right of passage.”

Way to go, Alex! Didn't take a long cold walk of shame!
Phew!!

This reel is brand new. I will add a drop of oil and see it if helps.

That hit came out of nowhere, classic scenario, looking for fish and it's hidden right in front of you.
Shore fishing is done here. Lake is frozen over but not thick enough to walk on. Tried at the bottom of the dam here but no luck.
Passed by one of my spots today during lunch, saw some bluegill schooling up, might actually be able to catch some if I can make an hour or two this weekend to get out there before the rain
👍 for another realistic video. Now, if only there was a thumb emoji with a mitten on it.
Good session Alex. That rod is very light but to be fair it looks to play fish well. We've had a few frosts over here. I went for the Pike. KIR
Thanks for the video. It's my first season with full gloves and it takes getting used to. I caught my first walleye.
I haven't seen a video where you've been skunked at the LOG! Thanks for sharing, stay warm. KiR!!!
Ultralight rods that are that flexible take some practice and experimenting with the casting method for sure
I have that exact reel, 2500 size I am guessing ? It is a few years old and has served me well. Everything from bass to panfish and trout. Great reels
"ra-pala" sounds more high falutin so I say it that way. Some of the best I do each year is in the winter here in Idaho. Some of it is weather, but I think it is mostly due to the lower stress on the fishing holes.
Fishing in 35 degree weather with a wet noodle. Alex, you're a better man than me.
Good job Alex, glad to see open water.
I always enjoy watching your videos and ty so much for the shout out Merry Christmas and God bless you my friend Alex 🙏♥️
Way to go and staying with it Alex!
Trout don't care how cold it is! Glad I live in the mountains.
Keep it brrrrealistic!!
Good video Alex, good review of the rod👍nice skipjack stay warm
I have a couple of whippy rods. I use them for jigging off docks for panfish.

It does a body good, to see fishing in the winter time 😊
Congrats on 100K subs
Dang that does look cold!! We've been in the high 30's low 40's all week out here in Oregon... Feel your chill!
Nope not going to happen lol I am very spoiled when my hands get cold that's it I'm done but good luck to you buddy see you in the spring 👍
Merry Christmas!🎄 🎉
🥈 Merry Christmas!
fishing in the cold is bad enough, but the wind keeps me inside. KIR
I’ve had that rod and I’m surprised it had enough backbone to get a hook in a skipjack lol

Now try 26 degrees without ice, from the bank.
