- This is a counterfeit Murakami Cherry Blossom Pochette. This collection was a part of the Spring 2003 line and designed by Takashi Murakami (known for the multicolor line!) There were a few things wrong with this piece (one of them was egregious)

As a note: I AM PERSONALLY AGAINST counterfeit designer goods. I know most people will say that “how others spend their money is no one’s business” And that is true…it’s def none of my business. But working in the industry I have seen all kinds of terrible scenarios where people who are truly desperate go to bring these items into consignment shops and it was my job to tell them that their last hopes have been dashed. Call me a softie but it broke my heart every time. Ditto for giving replicas away as gifts. Just don’t do it.
I am against misleading people, and I’m also against "flexing" on people who most likely don't care about who's initials are on your belt. Don’t spend your $$ to impress people, you rarely get a true return on your investment.

Want to know something even crazier? I have one of these bags which I bought in a charity shop about 10 -15 years ago (can't remember exactly) for between £3-£5. I am not entirely sure it is authentic but it has the right colour pattern/logo, the right pointed studs, excellent stitching, the tab inside etc. So if it is a counterfeit it is done very "well." I have never bought designer stuff ( way out of my budget) so haven't anything to compare it with. When I saw it in the charity shop I liked the colours and the smiley flowers, so I bought it. I'd never heard of Louis Vuitton!

Excellent walk through. At a glance the pochette really looks like an authentic vintage bag. And to think that somebody made all that effort to replicate a rare one season itemwhich has so many details. I think the best way to know is if you see an item in person and you start to feel something is off. Sometimes I have seen fake LV bags in the public and once you start doubting you will notice all the details why you had that feeling. This pochette might have fooled me though. It is scary to think how good replicas they can make. Especially the super fake Chanel bags.
It's impressive how well you can identify the small (and not so small!) details in an inauthentic bag. Your work is so fascinating!
I really love my job! It's so incredibly fun and interesting. Surprisingly, I don't get to see fakes as often as we'd think so I love when I get see them in person.

The monogram is too yellow... that is what I noticed right away! I collect LV and that was a dead giveaway!!!!

Also, we never would expressly tell people their items weren't genuine, we just wouldn't accept them. Sometimes it was uncomfortable, but we made it work.
KWShops That makes sense! I’ve worked retail before and it’s incredibly awkward/ uncomfortable to tell a person their card has declined. I’ve had some customers not take it well. I can’t imagine how a person would react after being told their bag is not genuine.

The colour of the LVs, but especially the embossing on the tab at the wrong side would be a red flag for me. Louis Vuitton doesn't get that wrong, for sure.

I got a white multicolor monogram one, slightly different barrel style one with bow & lock. It has nice leather inside and a date code tag. I never seen a genuine bag..... You didn't mention about the red trim around the strap. Is that a fake trait?
Im assuming mine to be vintage and is in bad shape (handle leather/red trim is crackling up top given the thin strap size (plus here in Wi it. gets cold/dry) I wouldn't know if authentic wouldn't crack in certain environments.
I had listed this purse for $100 auction start yesterday and someone flagged it as not authentic. I don't see ANY used bad shape Louis Vuitton for sale so I assume the brand keeps it that way by watching the market.
I just legit checked my Grandmothers bag and it is the multicolor one and it is so rare and authentic! I had so much anxiety over the bag and when you told me the Fakes had a Oval shape and I went to the bag and it was like a Perfect circle shape I know I can wear this As a messenger bag in School! Thank you ❤ edit: I also noticed that the spikes were kinda dirty and really old because of aging! But I am glad to finally know I can wear the real thing

Question: I have a vintage designer bag that I want to restore (it is real, as I used to work high end retail as a teen so it was new when I bought) and I was thinking about checking to see if there is a way to refinish the hardware. Should I not do that? Will it make it look fake or lower the value of my bag in your opinion?
It all depends on the bag. If the hardware is brass you can use a cleaner like brasso (find here on Amazon amzn.to/45FEM04 ) and a qtip .
Thank you for this video. I bought a pochette bag from a charity shop a few years bag for a silly price of about £5. I liked the colours and the smiley flowers. I had never heard of Louis Vuitton, as designer brands are out of my budget. When a few years later I heard of LV (seen in magazines) I then noticed my bag, but assumed it must be a fake, but looking at the details you showed here, it seems to my unpractised eye that it might be a real one. The studs are pointy, the tabs are correct, stitching is neat, there's a tab inside with the made by Louis Vuitton Paris on it, and another one with M51980 on it, and the colours of the LV logo on the outside are brown not yellow like the one you showed. It would be very curious indeed if it were real; to think a genuine LV pochette was in a charity shop (which raises money for a cat shelter)!

Great question! We did not buy it, and we would never sell it. Selling replicas is illegal, and would also undermine our credibility. This was borrowed from a long time client and was returned the following day.

Poshmark is literally run over by replica sellers and scammers, be very careful of what you buy especially if it’s under $500 - anything over $500 gets sent to Poshmark’s headquarters for authentication.
My husband got the real Murakami for 40 at a goodwill lol... Bentonville AR... Headquarters of Walmart... Rich golks toss away anything and everything...also gucci bracelet, armani and gucci-zegna-prada suits... Pretty crazy..use it a few months and its out of style so they toss it ffor something new

They’re everywhere, unfortunately... you just have to have an eye for them. She gives some excellent tips in this video! Poshmark in particular is completely overrun by replica sellers so be very careful... they typically set up shop at night when Poshmark’s headquarters is closed. The biggest red flag is a brand new luxury bag that’s going for around $250-$400... you can be sure it’s a fake.

as soon as you pulled out the replica, i immediately noted, 'the studs are wrong' (i'm so obsessed with the cherry blossom pochette that i've become somewhat of a mini bona fide 'expert' when it comes to that bag ~ have been on the hunt for one, but things haven't been in my favour whether price or timing).

I’m against buying a faux bag ( for me) but don’t judge those who do and choose them instead 💁🏻♀️ We are nobody to judge and to each their own. They’re lots of super faux items out now and quite frankly some one like KJ could rock and no one would question her ? Lol it’s funny because I’ve spotted some things you actually mentioned in here in zooming in her closet collection. She probably has NO idea as she has personal shoppers . You should promote women empowerment & maybe even mention in your videos that if you do spot a faux bag some where, how to handle it discreetly if asked . I see a lot of mean comments on peoples listings, who have no clue what a date code is or used for . They clearly won’t even understand how a limited edition bag would have never been made in France ( except Papillon bag) in the Cherry Blossom ( Sac Retro)collection at least . Maybe they got scammed too ? At the end we can educate people the proper way? Not by using disgust terminology and or expressions . I have seen the worst mean people post Horrors to young sellers ( Etsy, Depop, Poshmark ect) not knowing how this can affect their mental health .

This was not a good review, she stated that the Murakami LV Collaboration was one season, it came out in 2002 and ended in 2015. If she is authenticating high end bags she should know this.

Did the person know it was fake and how do you tell someone their product is a fraud? How is that said professionally? ;-)
