- China is reeling as the full impact of the coronavirus lockdowns becomes clearer. First, the economy has taken a hit, with figures for the first three months of this year showing the first drop in output for almost thirty years. The second blow is new figures revealing that the death toll in the city of Wuhan, where the virus was first detected, is 50 percent higher than previously reported.

Do you know if they help I heard that the virus was to small for the disposable masks to filter, I think a mask should be made using uv light for the health care and food processors ECT. With the advancement of uv LED's and rechargeable battery technology I bet it is possible.
@Will Stewart Most people do not have masks nor training on how to use them, remove them, and safely dispose of them. More importantly, I have not seen a mask in stores for over a month. Y'all are effective, but be careful; a virus can enter or exit from very small spaces through or around the mask. Viruses are very small. Remember other pathogens, also.

Since already the Q1 data is available, why not showing the March data alongside that of Jan and Feb? To avoid showing the much improved data in March due to gradual easing of lockdown? This is so not wise yet biased for DW. You are not Fox!
If we be rational, we know it’s meaningless to be picky on “True” number. The reported number could be different from exact true number due to a lot of factors including politics factors, reporting system, technical issues. Number is used to help us see the overall picture. 10% or 20% deviation may not be that important at the time of now.
What’s more important is how is the pandemic being contained now in China and how likely and severely a second wave will come.
I beg to disagree. Numbers are important right now because this virus behaves in a way we do not know. Exact statistics and inferences derived from it will help other nations create a mitigating system to curb possible spread. Because China wasn't so forthcoming of the real numbers, the virus spread like a wildfire. We do not blame, we merely identify the root cause of all of this: CCP's negligence.

What I’m saying is that it’s meaningless now to be picky on whether China’s data is exactly accurate or not especially at the time being now there are quite a few countries have COVID-19 case volume similar or even higher than China. There’s enough data for scientific research. What’s the point on asking China specifically to release “True” data while we know technically it’s impossible?
We know this is clearly a politic game, nothing about science here. I can tell there’s also similar politic games in China which is blaming and criticizing towards the US. I’m not 50 cent and actually also arguing against Chinese netizens to stop blaming/ mocking the US.

I could not understand what exactly the message of Mr. Hardt. So we make sure, by implementing better procedures , in case such a virus is detected, apply them and contain properly. The problem still exists upon travel across boarders checks,evalution of trading sources, and containment across boarders.
