Good that you got the rover running smoothly again.i didnt no there was trouble with condensors, luckily i never had any issues with any yet, touch wood.
At the risk of sounding like a know-it-all, l thought "condenser" as soon as l heard it running. Yeah, alright; l sound like a know-it-all! That nut could well have been a contributory factor, mind. Hopefully the threadlock will do the job. I think l'd bung on a stainless nylok nut but then l always replace nuts and bolts with the stainless equivalent. I'm assuming that you want to keep her as original as possible hence the absence of electronic ignition..? Cracking idea re the quarterlights. Always enjoy your vids. 😊
Was about to write the same thing entirely, including the thanks for the rear quarter light solution. Green Spark condensers have been the best for me but even then a thousand miles is too much to hope for. I carry two spare condensers. Never routinely bin a good working old condenser from a time when they were made properly!
@@anthonyoram9419 Great minds think alike, Anthony... 😉 When l was a mechanic back in the seventies and eighties, we used to charge-up condensers using the Champion sparkplug cleaner/tester and leave them on apprentice's benches. Happened to me in my first week as an apprentice. Ouch!
The original Lucas rotor arm is best. The black material was developed over decades and nothing modern will be as good and will start earthing and all sorts of mysterious things will happen. Same with the condenser. Hope you sourced a NOS one and not Chinese rubbish. Probably be better to fit electronic ignition and dispense with a bit of bent steel on a V8 engine. Very marginal even when new.

Interesting comments - I hadn't realised condensers could be such a big issue. Live and learn. I'll carry a spare in the future.
Any updates on the Rover?
Hi, have you finished with UA-cam?
