I thought that they might have more planner products, which makes sense because lots of scrapbookers like planning. But eliminating crafting almost completely was a shock.
@@JennieGarciaN Definitely unexpected. There has been some talk in the community (mostly from small businesses) about the slow down of demand for crafting products and there seems to be a new “closing shop” announcement every couple months from a small business. Very sad indeed.
I’m definitely disappointed, but wasn’t as invested as you! I do love their scrapbooking products, sales, and quality. This will be interesting; given what I’ve seen as a planner person originally, I wasn’t impressed or overly awed by what I saw so far but maybe it’ll be better once they show a full reveal?
I'm very saddened! I wished them well and good luck, as I do not plan to purchase any office supplies or stationary. Our options are very limited as pocket scrapbookers. Not to mention I felt I finally found my niche with paper person and then idk what happen with that as well.....sigh....
I plan stationery, but as a secondary item. I agree with you on the pocket scrapbooking. It might be on the way out. I have a lot of product to last me a few years and I still love the In A Creative Bubble printables, but it’s sad.
I did one last purchase to tide me over but I’m not gonna be buying stationery and other stuff from them. I’m so bummed that they’re getting rid the scrapbook stuff. I was just getting ready to re-subscribe to the documenter kit
I’m hoping the next month they have stuff to add to the box. IfI heard the announcement during the boxing period I would bought a ton more. I’m glad I got a few ink pads. I might also purchase from their Black Friday sale.
I've got so much product built up after decades of paper crafting that I am not too upset by this, but their "new look" is so bland that I am kind of shocked. What's the point?! You're absolutely correct, you could get any of this at Target, or Dollar Tree, for that matter. No personality whatsoever. I do like Elle's Studio, very basic but affordable, and I like their stamps and dies, and the fact that all their papers tend to go well together, so I don't feel compelled to get every new release. Very easy to quickly put a page together, too. I'll probably go back to Cocoa Daisy and Heidi Swapp. Cocoa Daisy has the best variety of kits, Heidi has the best ideas and techniques. I love Ali, but I just can't make her style work for me. Other than DD, I've made the least albums out of her stuff, despite having YEARS worth of her kits.
I have enough Studio Calico products to keep me happy for a couple of years, but I love their alpha stickers. I’ll take it as an opportunity to save my money.
Sounds like there won’t be Studio Calico for long, and I agree people that are “excited” for OFFICE SUPPLIES are lying. I’m not paying for office supplies from Studio Calico, and they aren’t either
I am soooo disappointed about this announcement. It was already concerning how the kits seemed to have less and less TLC over time, it was clear the enthusiasm was not there. SC’s social media presence was a faint whisper of what it used to be. I was bracing myself for a “going out of business” announcement, to be honest. I did not expect a pivot to OFFICE SUPPLIES. WTF. I find it really insulting and arrogant of the owner to do this about face and gave the audacity to expect her scrapbook followers to just continue supporting her. I’m not buying any of that uninspired generic stuff. Plain lame vinyl stickers at $3 a pop. Bookmarks. No thanks. I’ve got Target, Staples, and Paper Source down the road for stuff like that. And Barnes & Noble. And the gift shops at the mall. Heck, my public library sells cuter stuff that that. Grrrrr.
When Two Peas In a Bucket closed and stopped doing UA-cam videos, Studio Calico started doing more UA-cam videos for a year or a little over that. They also had a forum to fill the 2Peas spot. I wish they would put more love into their channel. I loved seeing the projects with the kits. I wasn’t really paying attention, but if anything they could’ve done what Pinkfresh Studio did and switch from kits to products. The office supplies in the shop right now are pretty basic. Cute, but not $5 for sticky notes plus shipping cute. I know they have to do something to stay afloat, but I’m not sure about this new direction. They could take a page from Archer & Olive. They started with bullet journaling, then pens, and now stickers, washi, etc. We’ll see what happens. 🤷🏻♀️
When they went from making individual journaling cards to cut apart papers, I knew something was amiss.
Yep! They have been downsizing since they eliminated the scrapbook kit.
I definitely got the vibes that they are going to move into the planner/journaling space since there has been a shift in that direction.
I thought that they might have more planner products, which makes sense because lots of scrapbookers like planning. But eliminating crafting almost completely was a shock.

Hopefully they make cooler things. What they have is cute, but I’m not in love.
Wow where was this info posted! I don’t like the quality of their paper! I only receive their stamp kit! Thanks for the update and unboxing! ❤
The sent an email. They posted a pretty vague statement on Instagram.

I’m sad too. I won’t buy office type products from them.😢If I want planner type stuff I tend to buy from Etsy/small businesses. And I’m not a stamper.
I would add it to my cart if I’m buying something else, but it wouldn’t be my go to place to buy planer stuff. 😕
I’m super bummed
I know! 😢

We have so few options for project life cards now!!! Does anybody like another brand’s project life kits?
There is Stories By Month by Ali Edwards and Cocoa Daisy has a project life kit. Not that many options.

The fact that we would have to pay for shipping it’s a deterrent. 😕
I am also very disappointed. With all the stamps that I have, I will have to make my own cards.
The cards were my favorite part! 😢 But I have lots of stamps too, and printables.
I'm disappointed in the decision, but I love planner stuff. I wasn't impressed with the sneak peak, though.
Maybe it’ll get better in the future?

I’m super disappointed I loved studio calicos documenters kit! Their planning stuff doesn’t look like anything special to me either 😞
I totally agree! Cute, but not “$5 plus shipping for sticky notes” cute.
