Definitely!! The only reason we put glue is to keep it extra secure and in place, as the knots might loosen with time without glue.

Hi. I have used cotton cord. You can use wool but it might slip and knots may open easily so make sure you glue it well.

Any kind of cotton string would look good in this. I used a twisted cotton yarn.
