    It's a triangle flattened out.

I have watched some of Tony Blauer's videos and I must say that I like a lot of his stuff, but I don't care for this particular technique. Shrugging your shoulders and turning to either side is much more effective and practical than trying to raise your elbow up.also double thumbs to the eyes is very effective when the person is that close to you.

Danny Thorne true but I wouldn’t rely on pain techniques, especially with meth, pcp, and super adrenaline.

    Tested. Doesn't work.

Just a simple strike to the eye would stop all that. Yes, you should practice this for those just in case moments. But yes, often times it's not a stranger and we should always be aware and maintain distance to think and react.

thomas thorne I’d advise learning grappling techniques too. I wouldn’t rely on pain/threat techniques with some many phychos, meth, pcp, and super adrenaline.

bullshit, you can simply use the senshido shredder..... i love when some people lack knowledge like the DIM MAK, or simply KYUSHO, doesn't know that at this level, you cas easily target pressure points cause he is too close, and holding at you, no sparring, you 'll have a 100% chance hit.... its quicker, faster.... you have his eyes, throat, fingers, groin at your mercy

Not always the case.... People are a lot tougher than we think

Why does everyone overcomplicate the choke?
    1. Only amateurs throw them, because 2. If you're not against the wall any one can just back out of anyone else's grip, and finally 3. If you're against a wall, a simple shoulder raise and body turn with one arm across the choke is GROSS motor and preserves all your options for striking after the fact.

Back out of the grip, yeah I don't think so. Probably against someone who's weak af. If the other know what is doing, the second you back out he's gonna drop another counter (go backwards you receive a punch to the face, try to go backwards but lowering your stance and you get a kick to the face). The shoulder raise and turn might work, but that depends on how strong and committed the person is. That same movement against a wall (as you said) is very unlikely to work because your back will be flat against it.
There are many ways to release yourself, I think that this one in the video is easy. Your hands are lose and you use them to elbow the other person's face. Now... would it work all the time? It depends. Everything is summarized in "it depends".

Test it. (I have). Find the largest / strongest sparring partner you can. Ask them to perform the choke standing with no wall behind you. No matter their strength, the physics of the situation will allow you to escape. As for additional "counters" or the straight punch... that's called combat and something you should be prepared for if someone is already choking you, but again, a choke is near to full extension of the arms, any attempt to strike from that position is going to require them to follow you with a lunging motions, i.e. now we're on to individual counters for the strike they threw; after the easy escape from the choke.

      Backing out absolutely works. Period.

Arm chair quarterbacks suck. You missed the whole lesson completely trying to be heard. This wasn't about you arm chair bullshit!
It was for them and about the difference between physical and emotional attacks and psychology and say a big man doing it to a woman as an example here for these people in this said scenario wise guy. You're 100% wrong on your physics bullshit anyone of any size can just back out of a solid 2 hand neck grab.
You create your own scenario so you can give the correct answer but you and your imagination aren't teaching the lesson for a reason, and you missed several points because you weren't listening, only thinking about yourself being a wise guy who succeeds every time. All about the me huh big guy. Shut up! You even got it wrong.
If you new anything about Tony's concepts and principles and drill progressions and psychology and emotional climate drills ect.. you'd know there's also more than just the neck grab isolation you see here. Much more.
The motion can be the same for a 2 hand back of the Neck grab a shirt grab or a shove ect.
There's this lesson all on it's own, and it's like a building block to work from after this scenario and the principals and technology involved here.
But later inside and outside the hands up position to the neck grab high line attack, then progress to add a level change body tackle feed adding in the spear defense from a passive or submissive stance, and drills that build from tactile drills, from palms attached tactile drills same high line attack inside or outside,, then adding the low line and make it less predictable as it progresses, combining working up to BALLISTIC MICRO FIGHT scenarios with gear ect.. but you got it all figured out huh wise guy.

@@QUntouchable If you were out in the open it couldn't work backing out and scenery dictates and this is a specific grab but the line of attack and principles go much deeper than the said tech at this time. You missing the lessons here because neither of you are listening.
. He said this is an emotional attack. You dont listen. Scenerio dictates what you'll do or not do. He gave the scenerio.
Ask a battered and emotionally abused wife or girlfriend whose bigger boyfriend/husband would beat her worse if she backed out, scenario dictates and you armchair quarterbacks aren't listening. Or your still a kid but getting bigger and your older brother or dad whose bigger does it.
Hypothetically this and this but that's not what's being taught. You guys need to listen and learn something. There's more than this technique mr. know it all.
Tony teaches principles and concepts & you both are missing the real knowledge for a specific answer to a specific technique. You both missed all the meat.

I have conditioned myself to automatically use a double thumbs-to-the-eyeballs whenever someone uses two hand on me (and they're not judo throwing me) - whether they're Darth Vadering me or they're just kind-of trying to manhandle me with 2 hands to the lapels, maybe with actors-in-concert coming in my 6. You can then shove them off you, then try some complex motor skills after that. The only problem is if when their arms are fully extended, my arms are too short to reach their eyes.

  • @jamesallen6309

Why would you want to remove the opponents hands? While his hands are around your neck, you have his entire lower body to destroy. Otherwise, a chin jab from underneath; an eye gouge or ear slap will soon have the aggressor letting go. Tony is good, but this technique is too technical even though it is simple. Reminds me of Kadochnikova Systema which beats around the bush instead of a direct approach.

If hes much stronger you are seconds away from unconsciousness so you need to get the hands off quick,by whatever method ,eye strike or release.

It depends, I've been in an actual situation and I agree with Tony blaur. Sometimes it just happens to be so that ur opponent is bigger and has longer arms than you and u can't reach his body or head .
