I always get the best night's sleep to the sound of rain drumming on the roof of the camper. Something about being warm and cosy when it's the opposite outside
Love Porthleven. Being brought up in Helston, Porthleven is always close to my heart .Shame about all the second home situation there. I experienced one of the worst storms there in 2015 very frightening at times.. A fantastic village.
When I come down to Cornwall I love going to Portleven especially when there's a storm coming in. At 10:17 the noise is from the wooden beams of wood that shut off the access to the entrance of the main dock where the boats are moored, I only know this because I went and investigated it when i was down there in June, with regards to the van remember the van can be replaced , family cant so you did the right thing .
Forgetting the coffee! Nice to see that you are normal like the rest of us 😁 Fairweather van/car campers miss out on some great times by not going out in a storm. Just don't park up under a tree though.😜
At least crocs are water resistant, shorts and t shirt easier to dry what's not to love. I'm in Cornwall at the moment and boy can it rain ☔!!!!!! I thought Manchester was bad . But hey that's why the grass is so green and lush down here in Kernow ..
The car park pass is a good idea in principle and I applaud you for at least thinking of something which is more than the local council are. I think since covid van life has took off dramatically and it’s more the issue of everywhere you go there are camper vans everywhere. You went into a local pub and coffee shop but many of them don’t even pay to park or contribute to the local economy. Keep up the good work Shaun
Great video, I live in the West Midlands and plan on moving to Cornwall in the next 2 years when my kids finished school, can’t imagine how much better life seems, also I work from home so finding work is not an issue 👍🏼👍🏼
Love Porthleven, will never forget our first 20 mins, a dog fight near the pier, a bird in trouble in the water and some poor guy having a bad turn we had to wait for the ambulance!!! Got a storm on the last day😃😳😃😳
The oil pump failure is really common. It happens to Citroen relays too as they have used the Ford puma engine since 2007 and they all have the same failure. I had my engine reconed and that was something they put in bold haha. Another failure point will be the injectors injecting too much fuel and burning holes in the pistons. With it being a new engine, it is new in terms of new block or new ancillaries also? They tend to swap the injectors from the old van, so it might be an idea to get them sent out for refurb too.
Nice one Shaun nice seeing you having an adventure in our lovely summer weather. Glad im not the only one who gets dressed for sunshine on a rainy day. Thanks as always Shaun.
Even on the coast in Devon the rain looks great. Love the vlogs as usual 👍 . Sorry to hear about engine in the Tranny.. but this a common fault with that engine unfortunately. Have fitted a few now and still seen them fail after 20k😔😔 just keep up on more than regular oil changes and servicing.👍 when the new engine is fitted.. some parts are used from the old engine. Can you make sure that when done that new two bolts that hold the fuel injector clamps down are replaced and listed on your invoice. As I’ve seen this a reason for rejection for warranty work from the engine supplier. As these bolts are a common fault for coming loose and compression leak into engine and causing engine carbon build up. It happened to us at work. Because we didn’t list the new bolts on customers invoice. Sorry for long post 👍 can’t wait for more van build vids👍.
You should keep on with the licence thing. I think it's a good idea. Hysterical that some people jump on the whole "It'll impinge upon my privacy, right to choice, civil liberties... etc etc. Some prime just liked to battle the "system" even if the system if there to make life better for the majority. Anyway. Another great, entertaining video, thank you :)
Porthleven is my favourite place in the whole world Shaun, I always have to go & see them waves everytime I go down to see my daughter & grandkids. Good luck with the van engine, I hope they get it sorted for you quickly mate.
Think we're heading down to Cornwall in the holidays, we usually go to Looe then basically visit as many places as possible. Cant wait until ive got my van up and running. But the missis will only let me do campsites. Great video again 👏
Nice vlog as usual Shaun,I do like your chilled out down to earth delivery and attitude. Yes Shaun, if you sit on a canon when it's been raining, it's going to be wet! You know,to my shame I live in Plymouth atm have done for 12 years and I haven't yet been further west than Liskeard !
Look forward to your uploads every week. Just got back from a Cornish adventure myself walking the Smugglers Way. I recommend the Jamaica Inn if you’ve never been there before 👍
Cracking video again mate. The weather that weekend was a nightmare it was like winter again, oh no the empty coffee box in the basket 😮😮 hopefully you’ll get the van sorted mate and you’ll be back on track soon, keep up the good work 😊😊
The council should be prviding the facilities we need. That's their job and that is why we pay them the egregious amounts of money we do. Council - Do your job!
@@andrewgroocock3069 If that is the case then it is far better to suffer the tiny minority who don't know how to behave (and I'm sure we'd come up with a solution because were clever like that) than to treat the majority who can and do behave with the contemptuous assumption they can't. At best its insulting, at worst it criminalises law abiding individuals and provides the council with yet another excuse to deprive us of some cash. Rather than costly licenses we should be looking at the extent of the councils law making powers and question whether or not they are exceeding those powers in relation to the living, or whether the living are in deed the intended audience for these council bye-laws in the first place. That would be an interesting question to get an answer to.
I know you’re trying to do something positive but I don’t want to be policed and licenced. I want the uk to be more like France with loads of free or very cheap van parking in every town for anyone who wants to use it.
As for the license.... Que silly Pink Panther music... Have you got a Licencccc😅.... If vans are monitored via cameras... These parking companies get our details via the DVLA at a cost anyway... Nice little seaside town.... Hope you get your van back soon... Who knows... One day we may bump into each other on our Cornish travels (stayed at St Agnes) brilliant... Will have to go back again
Engine problems are a nightmare aren’t they. Best of luck with yours. My engines getting fitted Dreckly hence why I’ve not got it back yet 😂 hopefully yours will be a quick one
@@LoveSundays... Engine is in transit.. Not delivered yet... No rush really.... Drecktly will do... As I'm using my wife's Citroen C4 for window cleaning... I was wondering when you were walking back with your coffee and what the situation is regarding the engine. It's great to hear you've sourced a new engine. Next time take your jacket off by the door then shake it hard outside (you're still inside the van) to get the worst of the wet off. Love wild weather. You need a reusable coffee cup....
We already pay tax for everything you’re talking about and then we even get charged for going to the toilet, parking etc. It’s already paid for in taxes.
Exactly so we the licences holders would be able to park overnight in carparks overlooking the beach and all the non licence holders can stay in the smelly lay-bys

You should launch the Reasonably Priced Burger Licence so you don't have to pay £16 for a burger. Great video as per usual.

You should do one of those hour long rain videos...Cornwall rain, or something. I reckon it would get views!
Weather has been proper manky to be fair but good to get out even between showers

England is highly regulated and so having the camping van permit makes sense. It fits with how we are, you will know where you stand.
Nice one Shaun, it's good to see I'm not the only one who goes out in T shirt, shorts and sunglasses during the rain haha 😂
😁
Enjoying the channel alot. Making me think of converting my van 🤔 😂
Love Porthleven! We stayed in The Harbour Inn in the room with the bay window at the front, one stormy January weekend.

Need to try and build on this camping licence thing, never mind the van build!!! 😎
Camping license is a good idea as long as it's not seen as an extra tax..it must be free to obtain
My husband got soaked by a wave crashing over the edge the last time we went there, it was hilarious 😂

Good sleeping weather!

That's normal summer weather for us and who's keyed the van
Good morning

Bedankt
Thank you
You'll have to try out the Ship Inn next time. Great atmosphere, as well as decent food.
Yea it’s normally my first choice but didn’t want to walk all the way there in the rain and not get a table
Our weather has been shite hasn't it? However you made a great vlog out of it unlike me who sat home and sulked. LOL!!!
