My favorite tip on hammer is, is using the hammer 3 to shift the fight into counter pressuring. Wait for the enemy to start trying a big burst, pop stability on either of you alliance tactics, hammer 3 right on your own location and you will not only evade the majority of their burst, but you will immediately start counter pressuring when you land. At that point I usually swap legends, swap weapons and return with my own burst if I have the health and the ability to get a down. Bonus points if you are able to place a good combo field on your location before dropping hammer 3. Another thing I do a lot, is utilize hammer 5 similarly to the way you use the spear. Obviously the spear is much better in most situations, but if you are on a node, it's a good way to force the enemy to need to dodge off of the node, and if they don't you get a free knock down and a blast finisher if there are any ally combo fields nearby. Great video Homage, you are the goat bro!
All very good points! I'll raise you another one :) You can cast hammer 5, swap to shiro while casting hammer 2 so you gain quickness. The hammer 5 will hit after the 2, which will allow you to use hammer 2 twice back to back almost instantly. Fun combo but hard to pull off!
Mang, having a Revenant Sensei on UA-cam is awesome. I need to spend more time thinking instead of tunneling and spamming all my abilities then dying. Great vid.
@@homage3 the slow motion, step by step commentary on abilities you’re using with rationale is fantastic. Breaking down your opener with the spear, followed immediately by burst, which was meant just to draw a reactive dodge prior to the spear hitting, so you can better ensure that by the time the spear gets there it hits-that was super cool.

@@sedim4643 I'm at work, I can't send you my build right now sorry lol I'll send it this evening. It's nothing special just the standard vindicator build you'll probably find it on meta battle. Vampirism rune with an intelligence sigil on the hammer.
good analysis bro. i tried to use hammer in wvw but it hits like a wet noodle for some reason even full zerk it's pretty bad. hammer somehow hits harder in pvp
Thanks very much! The way that people are squeezing big numbers out of the hammer in pvp are either - running high precision builds to get near the crit cap (ranger rune, see last vid for example) - running high power builds and using daredevil relic + intelligence sigil to get free crits (vampirism rune, see this vid for example) In this video I'm using the 2nd option. You wanna try to time your big hits when you have stacks of daredevil relic crits or Intel sigil crits Hope this helps. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up
I will say, when you first use hammer it feels like it doesn't hit hard, even in pvp. It takes a LOT of getting used to but once you get it, you suddenly realize how incredibly hard it can hit and how versatile it really is. The thing homage is really good about, is explaining how important using hammer 4 is before auto attacking. The life steal + block + 1200 range is unreal. The rest of the hammer skills are all utility and all good for different things but always think about hammer like that. In WvW I highly suggest running as much quickness on the hammer as you can.
The insta-turn-around walk is something I discourage people to use. It's good to use if you're getting used to pvp, but your auto attacks & skills actually ahve a 179* radius, thus strafing >, which has the same movementspeed as walking straight actually makes you move the same speed 'backwards' but still being able to hit the enemy. If you turn around 100% you can't touch the enemy. It seems cool if you see people do it in a video, but is actually a disadvantage.

Hello this video was so helpful thank you. Can i ask your build? Im noob and want to be improve myself. And sencond quesstion can u make same video with herald plsssssssssssssss :D
Here's the build used in the video: gw2skills.net/editor/?PmgAIFlZSMsTyjlSdMUijpSksSigpsVbMD-DaILkGTgMrgeDB/uDAAA For herald content, I highly recommend my herald guide on my channel. I put a lot of love into that one and am happy with the result. More herald content will definitely be coming in the near future though so keep an eye out
I think the damage reduction on hammer 4 is fair. It's a defensive skill it doesn't need big damage. I think the damage reduction on hammer 2 is not needed. The 2 is supposed to be the big damage skill, and is quite hard to land. It should hit hard. I think there is a case to be made that it was hitting too hard, but my opinion is that the reason it was hitting so hard is the vindicator damage modifiers. This feels like they wanted to nerf vindi but ended up hitting herald and core rev in the cross fire. That being said, the hammer 2 ended up getting a very nice QOL update. It will now go up and down terrain and is a lot less buggy to use. The Urn cooldown reduction was another tough one. The healing it could put out on a DPS class was very high. But the 10 second CD will pretty much ensure that support rev will remain a meme pick. I wouldn't mind the urn CD increase if they made it so when you take the healing dodge you'd get the shorter urn CD back. So a mixed bag! I may make a video talking about them. I need more time to test everything though.
I don't think the hammer is an issue at all. I could see some people saying vindi hits too hard, which I think there may be an argument to be made. I don't think the reason vindi hits so hard is the hammer. The damage numbers on the hammer aren't really out of line compared to other weapons. I think vindi just has so many damage modifiers that can all be stacked and can make the damage stack really high. If anet wanted to tune down vindicator I think they should look at the modifiers first before the hammer.
@@homage3 Indeed, I am thinking the same way. I think the most complaints come from the direct vindi evade damage by that trait. If they reduce this little bit and 15% increase damage to 10%, is fine imo. No need for big nerfs or nerf it to uselessnes 😐

Running it with herald works well ive found in wvw bc of the facet passives giving might, fury, and concentration to keep up the damage boons
