Great video. The MS230 and MS250 saws are pretty good unit for sure. I rarely ever remove/replace the needle, most of the time a gasket/diaphragm kit is all you need. Make sure the metering lever is set to the correct height, and you're good to go.
Thanks for showing us the strip down in such great detail ,im gonna have another go at mine now with a fresh approach ,greetings from Wales UK. ive subd.
Hey Bruce I’ve learned a lot from you regarding Briggs and Stratton engines. I’ve also learned a lot from Donyboy regarding Tecumseh engines. Both been very helpful. Plus, last year around this time, I purchased a next to new Mastercraft 8 gallon compressor for $100. That was a great find!
I have been trying 2 strokes this week. I do not hang the hang of it yet. I replaced the carb on a Mantis tiller. It runs, but hard to start without primer spray. I tried to rebuild a Walbro WY (just WY, no more letters or numbers). It isn't going yet. Compression seems OK at 125 PSI. I got it to run a few seconds with the carb off using spray, so I think it is the carb. Third is a YardMan weed wacker. I rebuilt that carb twice, still not running. This is frustrating. I think I am going to fix a 4 stroke lawn mower, just to feel like I get a victory once in a while. Good job Bruce. I will keep watching & learning.
Well 2 stroke stuff is a whole new animal. The crankcase (under the piston and crankshaft area) is the actual intake manifold as that is how they are oiled. Those two seals on the crankshaft can be touchy. Especially on the Department store stuff. Repairing a Stihl, Husqvarna or Echo make this a lot easier.
I see you use that special tool coat hanger , I call mine hook , I try to keep it simple ha ha ! Great job on that casket and the coil trick thanks for that I'm always learning ! 👍
Love to watch people who know what they are doing with two stroke stuff. Great job making the gasket ( what thickness was the paper ). Top vid loved every minute.
Bruce and morning coffee..... OK what I use to make the small holes, a hand held leather punch, you know it looks like a paper hole punch but with multi tubes that you can dial in, and for the large hole, I have a set of sharp large circle punches, great video as always. What did you do to your elbow?
This is why working on chainsaw’s is good, because you can sit and who doesn’t like sitting, food and drink close by, does make it a little nicer, But it’s Still nice to sit ,it may even help you think better. Be good Bruce stay safe
Well as you know Joe i have been a high tech worker all my life ...Most of it standing, on a ladder or aloft. Sitting down is something i have to train myself on as I am ageing now. Thanks again for the great comment.
nice work, thanks Bruce. I find when I need to clean the spark arrestor screen that using a pluming torch works the best to burn the carbon off, cute little sparkling show too haha. take care
Ha! I bought a nice full-height stool for my outdoor workbench about 20 years ago, and it has never been used as a stool. It gets used a lot -- It makes a handy auxiliary bench / surface, or for supporting the end of a long item like a pole saw, but it's never been sat on. I'm always standing up when I work.
How's she goin'? Nice job there Bruce!!! A hard starting saw is a terrible thing!!! LOL Nice work making that gasket and the work on the carb seems to have been worth it. Nice repair all around. Take care!!!
Bruce , did you gasp at the prices? There are battery powered meggers . They still cost quite a bit. But you will have no problem identifying insulation faults and unwanted grounded circuit points. I'll go away now. Have a good day Bruce and Family.
Maybe you need a stool like the one 805ROADKING made, or maybe he could make another one for you lol! ua-cam.com/video/pWWtKKs9i8s/v-deo.html Good job finding that electrical problem... that's a lot like a needle in a haystack to find that one
Some help is timeless. My 230 is having issues. Searched. Bruce! Thank you sir. I can now get at that fix when i have some time and warmer weather
Right on
Great Catch on that ignition failure my Good Friend! This was a fun one! Cheers!! Sean~
Sometimes it isn't the 2 stroke portion. It just comes down to good old small engine Medicine. ;-)

Exactly. I am closing in on my skills for these 2 strokes.

What did you do to your elbow?
My elbow always does this when i am pushing myself a bit too hard. It is arthritis (The time of year as well)
@@BrucesShop oh I hear that, try 3 ibuprofen liquid gels, for when it gets real bad, takes the pain right away, my back is always been my problem.
@@knighthawk86855 I am past that. But thanks.
Nice work , never have liked that style of spark plug boot wire !
Me neither
Hi Bruce. I see you have your elbow wrapped? WOW great catch on the plug wire Bruce. I love making gaskets

This is my first sit down video. I am not sure about sitting yet.
Good diagnosis on the plug wire. Funny how everything has to be perfect for those to run right.
That is such a crazy set up. Just poke it through the high tension wire. You would think there would be a crimp. How is Spike doing.
Good catch, nice fix
Thanks Jim. I have no old jokes today LOL.
Do you have a 500 V Crank Megger? The're great for getting to the short of things.
No I don't thanks I will check it out.
Good video Bruce!
Thanks a lot.
Well done Bruce!
Thanks Robert

Thanks Chris correct. I usually check names as there are so many, Good training for my male brain.
Bruce what are those needle nose pliers with the ball on the end of the handle?
I am not sure Ken. The ones i use have a wire cutter option?? I am not sure what you mean what time in the video?
