I'm used to CATIA allowing selection of external sketches and features. I found this command as I'm really used to being able to do it. They could save us the time and effort and skip the "include" part and just allow picking of anything existing.
You didn't need to included the edge of a part in NX1899. What add this include feature. This take more steps than before. What the benefit of using include.
It's still not necessary to use the command. Just select an external curve or edge and it will be referenced in an associative manner. It's a benefit at all.
Interesting... quite resembles a Synchronous Tech for sketches of some sort. Never seen a feature 'external sketch'.
Is it possible to switch sketcher to Old version if the part is created by new one? I am sick when I am maked to use new sketcher in example to edit a part generated in progressive die wizard - edition is set to new version.
Nope - no chance! I wish it was possible in some cases, because also in my case the conversion sometimes fails.
@@Bizlearn_Siemens_NX_Training Thank you for answer. The next question is why Progressive Die Wizzard generates new sketcher in new parts despite NX is set to old one?
In example when I have scrap designed - the punch shape is generated by PDW according to scrap automatically. The problem begins when this punch have to be modified (holder part in example) and then I start new sketch and..I have new version what I do not want. So the point is how to set PDW to work on old sketcher?
I also cannot manage default settings.
Is it possible set any parameter that causes that my settings will be kept not in simple drawing only but as the application? (such setting is used in Inventor so every new drawing is the same as previous - in. e dimensioning settings , backround colours and many others.)
I wish every new model/drafting part is set as I wish.
NX customising (model,drafting user settings) seems too complicated and time consuming- maybe it is good topic for a movie?
Do you know how to use expression in NX 1926 new sketch solver??
In older sketch version, i normally use expression to define dimension. For example, P1 = (P0)/2. I am looking forward to hearing you 😊 😀
Hi, thank you for the question. You have to right-click the dimension and "add expression". Then, a name and value entry will be displayed. To be honest, I don't like the fact, that direct name entry does not lead to an associative expression link, but I haven't figured out yet, whether there might be a setting to adjust the usability. @@Bizlearn_Siemens_NX_Training It seems that if you also do "add expression" on the dimension that should refer to another dimension, the expression becomes is associative. Strange behavior indeed, but at least it works!
@Bizlearn Me and my boss are testing the NX 1980 before we implement it. We were wondering why Siemens did this. His suggestion is that design engineers don't always need expressions and on a larger model this would cut down the number of expressions used. It seems the new behavior is a parameter existing only inside a particular sketch.
How to maintain horizontal dimension reference after changing the straight line to arc
You mean how to replace references of a dimension?
I cannot set the new sketch solver it stays always off even if i start the program as admin, do you have any suggestion?
No... I've installed properly without mods and it works as it should. Are u using a licensed product?

Hi George, if there was a configuration file defined by your administrator, your adjustments will not take effect (Customer defaults --> Gateway --> general --> Miscellaneous --> Feature Toggles)😬

Strange, I am running NX1930 and I don't have that "include" command. Oh, I see. The new sketcher has to be turned on which you explain in this video: ua-cam.com/video/3ORQz8q_Xqg/v-deo.html. But still strange that it is not turned on by default when starting a new sketch. Many people will not know this.
This is the copy cat command of 'References' from Creo parametric and its sucks like Creo itself. I am going back to NX12 where I do not need to 'Include' command for creating curve with references to external curve which is outside the sketch geometries. I totally gives minus 5 stars for this useless feature.
This was not the case in previous version like NX10 and 12 where it takes automatically any edges or center for reference sketch creation or dimension creation without this useless command 'include'. It takes more time to do the simple task than before, I should go for SolidWorks rather than this one.
The include is done automatically. The difference to before is, that you now have control. You know what I mean?
@@Bizlearn_Siemens_NX_Training Can you elaborate 'control' term? I am curious. I am using NX since 2013 and huge fan of the same but the latest upgrade in terms of UI is quit not intuitive for beginners. For instance, I took training with NX8 😅which is history by now but never confused until NX 12.
This can be never an issue with SolidWorks, UI do not change or confusing that much, because I learnt 2014 version and still efficiently work on 2023. Only minimal amount of tweaks required to know the workflow. That's what I feel.
