This song make me want to hug all my Miao sisters around the world no matter where we all are. I would love to go back and pay my respects to my ancestors and my people. Lot of love. 🥰

I am a Miao/Hmong Chinese lady from China now living in the USA with a Hmong husband. In China we lived peacefully with the Chinese neighbors and I never thought of myself as Hmong but once in the USA I found my identity and is very proud of being Hmong.

@@hhhdhjo9160 I've never heard of Hmongs fleeing China. Were the homeland of the Hmong invaded by the Chinese regime?
Who are the 'we' you are referring to? Did they surrender to the Chinese regime when the CCP invaded the land of the Hmong? Are the Hmong like the Tibetans and Uighurs? There are so many Hmongs in China today. Are they living under Chinese oppression? Is the CCP eroding their culture and language like what it is doing to the Uighurs?
Please share your story with the Western media such as the CCN, BBC and CBC. You may share your story with the pro-democracy Hong Kong and Taiwan media. We in the free West want very much to know whether another group of people had their motherland annexed and oppressed by the Chinese regime.

      @ktkska8886 4 роки тому +2

@Xue Yang, You say you're a Hmong but why do you have a Chinese name? Did the Chinese regime forced all your people to adopt Chinese names?
Did you flee China because you refuse to surrender to the Chinese regime? Why were you not proud of being a Hmong when you were in China? Was your people under oppression and the Chinese regime restrict and control the practice of Hmong culture? Is this singer a real Hmong? The music is Chinese and she is singing in Chinese so different from the real Hmong in Thailand.

The Miao doesn't like to be called Miao by their own kind. If you are Hmong and you called the Hmong-Chinese, "Miao", they're going to be upset. They rather be called Hmong by their Hmong peers. Only other countries call us Miao.

I personally think that the Hmoob/Hmong/Miao who are the one that had it the worst is the one that migrated to Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. Always fighting a never ending war amongst ourselves n others, idk thats just how i feel. I do want to come back home one day though that's forsure

It was said that the regime bombed san miao hmong out of the mountains which made most go south to vietnam, laos and thailand, the hmong population who are left in china are the ones who fought on the side of the Qing dynasty. Yt channel called Mong Education a hmong american meets up with a Hmong elder in china living in the mountains where both are talking in clear hmongic to each other. In china there are some hmong who identify themselves as chiyou miao hmong while some hmong won't socilaize with the miao population and call themselves the huangti hmong. I kinda do believe and i don't because some hmong americans hold grudges and he sounded negative.

In Vietnam, laos and Thailand the word for cat is meo. I also believe they changed it because of that it sounds similar. Now we're also known as Hmong which is what we really call ourselves anyway. Lol Because the miao people call them something else too but all similar. (Hmong, Hmub, Xong and Ahmao) us four groups are the miao people of China. The hmong are the white/green miao. The Hmub are black miao. The Xong are the red miao and the Ahmao are the stripes/flowery miao. All have same traditions, religions and share the same ancestry. All still pay respects to the greatest Hmong/Miao King Chiyou.

@@chris03cha I’m not a song writer or a singer but it would probably go along the lines of:
After many hundreds of years how are you doing?
Your song, drum and qeej calls me home,
After many years we barely understand each other language
Yet you still remember the family that parted
And I still remember the family I left behind.
Today you call me home, and I am reminded of where I belong.
One day we will close the gaps of history and distance
Over rice wine, dance and songs
And we will laugh and cry about our journey from the last hundred of years.
Until then I will remember the family I left behind and you will remember those who left. 💕
I love that Hmong/Miao all share this longing and remembrance for unity family & togetherness, something that has withstood time and distance.

Yes I'm planning to goers maybe next year but my Mandarin has gotten bad since I haven't practice. The central hmoob dialect is difficult to learn. I'll need to make the most of my one month stay.

like hmong call themselves "hmong" this group calls themselves "Hmu" they are actually similar to hmong but are more better off than the hmong groups. They are both categories under Miao. All groups under Miao has their own ethnic names.

Miao/Hmong whatever you may call it are a family with China. It's just another missing piece like Cantonese, Mandarin, Yue, WU, Minbei, Minan, Xiang, Gan, and Miao, They have their own name but they're all Chinese, just like how Many race and ethnicity lives in America: White, Black, Hispanic, Korean, Indian, and many more, but when you ask them who they are they will say "Im an American". Samething applies in China, all the name I mention'd earlier are Chinese. Some people still think Chinese is 1 race, its not. Just that Miao is a very small ethnic in China so a lot of people there are missing it. I don't know the full story on how the Miao/Hmong people got seperated from their homeland in China, It may be lost.

Sky Chord I don't consider China hmong homeland cause it written on the map as China standing for chinese! if there is a country name Hmong/Miao than yes!!!

Don't be ignorant and stupid. China is our homeland. 11 millions Hmong in China.... 100k in USA. China is our homeland. Where do you think we are from? Where do you think your last name HER came from? Chinese. duh.

+King Her First of all, please do not mix ethnic groups and nationality together, there is NO CONFLICT between Chinese and Miao (or Hmong). Actually, even Miao does not only represent Hmong. It specifically represents the people living in southern China, sharing cultural similarities in Mian-Yao language Family.
“Miao is a Chinese term and does not reflect the self-designations of the component groups of people, which include (with some variant spellings) Hmong, Hmub, Xong (Qo-Xiong), and A-Hmao...The Miao live primarily in southern China's mountains...Some sub-groups of the Miao, most notably the Hmong people, have migrated out of China into Southeast Asia (Burma (Myanmar), northern Vietnam, Laos and Thailand).
      - from Wikipedia”
Yes, a Hmong person may say he/she is Vietnamese, Laotian, Tai people, not Chinese. Because Hmong is also one of the ethnic groups in those countries. To him or herself, the southern China is only birthplace of Hmong people, not their home country. However, when people say “Miao”, they are pointed to an ethnic group people living specific location in China for generations and Hmong is only one of the sub-groups in Miao. So it’s totally fine for Miao/Hmong people to call themselves Chinese, Just like a Hmong person can definitely say his/her home country is Vietnam, Laos or Thailand.

The difference between Hmong Americans and Hmong Chinese is that Hmong Americans have a chip on their shoulders and these kind of minority grievance is very American, as American as apple pie. This "Han Chinese trying to wipe the Hmong people off the history books" nonsense simply doesn't make sense in China but if you grew up in America within the framework of America historic experience this is just logical and natural. In Hmong's American imagination they were the Asian equivalent of the native Americans being wiped out by the European settlers. So all these trails of tears blah blah blah. I don't know whether Hmong Chinese are even aware of these Hmong American sentiment but if they do they will probably be even sick of it then their Han counterparts.
