Jimin said that this song was inspired by a movie Like Crazy which is essentially about a break up, a forced separation. I guess he wanted to convey this feeling here plus the desire to escape the reality by any means, that's on top of his own depression and anxiety during the pandemic. I like how open to interpretation this song is. 💜

Have u guys noticed a scene where there is full of mud in his room while he was singing at the beginning..then one muddy hand dragged him to a dream that's the club ..this song is all about a person who feels so alone is dragged by his own illusion that's the dream the club..where he partied and having fun but still it was a dream ..have u guys noticed the last line " don't try to save me.i want to be in this dream" and the girl who noticed in the video is his own reflection as both of them are not meeting ..when there is mud in the scene that represents his loneliness..at the end of the video when he hit the reality that's just a dream the same mud on his hand..

this song has huge radio potential but the radio and the west is very xenophobic against bts and essentially blacklisted them because they refuse to do payola and pay for play listing and playing the game with the western music industry. this synth pop/city pop song is similar to blinding lights and is doing very well on streaming platforms/sales. it's disgusting how bts is treated.

The title of the song is that he saw his favorite song on UA-cam accidentally remixed with a movie,
and the movie's title is Like crazy.
He cited the title of the movie because he thought his feelings were similar to those he felt in the movie at the time.
the video is symbolic of depression during pandemic... being isolated from friends and loved ones. how it feels better to dream than be in reality.... all alone.
the mud is the sludge of depression ...isolation from outside world.
this is 2nd track of album ... need to listen to FACE-OFF 1st track.
the album tells a storyline of those times all went thru from Jimin's personal experience.
in the end (next to last track) Set Me Free pt2 tells his letting go of depression with a renewed strength to carry on.
then last track (hidden track as not available as digital download for a cost as its FREE ... see soundcloud or color coded lyric videos on UA-cam for it) is love letter to us fans as a thank you for staying with him thru the rough times ... it's beautiful with Jungkook harmonizing with him while playing guitar.

Hahahahaha BTS doesn’t do drugs so there’s no way the club spinning and blurring is about drugs. That’s USA culture. It’s a dream, a fantasy he doesn’t want to get out of bc he doesn’t want to feel lonely and depressed in the real world. That’s why he said don’t wake me up.

Jimin also said that he inspired by the American movie about love story and you also can hear the voices at the beginning and at the ending (they are from film)
The theory: that girl represents Jimin second identity who took him to the club and if you watch carefully they move parallel to each other and when they finally met he sees the mirror. In the end he sets himself free but that mud was in his hand. He wrote most of it during pandemic when he was sad and depressed. Jimin said it himself behind the scene.

Yeah... LOL. 4 guys don't recognize a fantasy of fun and the girl with muddy hands grabbed him & pulled him in. Koreans don't do the drug thing... not BTS, only Americans go there. It's a damn fantasy! It's euphoria....then the empty let down when you wake up.
