Such a great song. The stories great, and those little Neil Young esq guitar fills between the chorus and verse are brilliant. A favourite to cover live!
Thank you for the video! I love Ian Noe! What a beautiful song. And I love your take on them too. Please keep up the great work. Stoked for his new album.
Beautiful song with a great message. And oh yeah, I'm working with a purpose alright. Spent years now with the wheels spinning and I've only managed to dig the tires into a rut. I'm exhausted. Hopefully someday it'll work out.
Michael somehow your PRS Acoustic doesn’t sound like mine. I got a faulty one ;) your fingers do some magic on that thing; beautiful resonance and clarity. Thanks for all the recommendations over the years; I’d say half my playlist comes from some of these shout outs! Keep doing the thing man! (Also: I’ve never heard a teacher articulate “bass, middle middle, treble, bass middle middle” or whatever. Is this just part of vocalization or does it have its own name as a skill?)
Wow man I hate my job bro and I put in zero effort and this really hit me cuz I it’s something I want to do but I want to be the boss if that makes sense
Sorry, havnt got time to view the video right now. I will do though. But the minute i saw Ian Noe I had to comment. Between the Country is the best album I have ever heard, it is absolutely perfect from start to finish.
I like this guy quite a bit, lyrics are interesting and lure you in to the story but the only thing I can’t get past is I feel his singing style is too similar to Dylan. Take a listen to “Letter to Madeline”. Amazing song and absolute credit to all, assembly, vocals and writing but seems very similar to Bob Dylan’s style in regard to all of the above.
Found Ian Noe by chance about a year ago, this video in fact. His Between The Country album is absolutely amazing. You need to hear the whole thing if you haven't! Thanks for putting a spotlight on him Michael, he deserves all the attention he can get.
Great reaction as always. Can’t go wrong with an Appalachian artist. Other songs from Ian to check out: letters to Madeline, methhead, Irene, river fools, between the country are all great works of art.
Yes, thank you! Been a huge fan of his since his first album. It's impossible to listen to him and not compare to Dylan, Prine, et. particularly because he doesn't really sound too much like any of them. He's in the genre that stretches back through the greatest folky song writers but I rare distinctive new voice. Check out Burning Down The Prairie from the new album as well. ua-cam.com/video/YfFR2AnBciM/v-deo.html
After hearing Ian on WNCW…I bought his album Between the Country…every song is great…then I saw him play live in Asheville NC at Ambrose West…Amazing to hear all those songs in a live setting…He’s one of the best songwriters out there today…Looking forward to the new album coming out…Going to see him this Sat. at The Grey Eagle in Asheville NC…Great Stuff Mike…Keep it up…!!!
Love the song.... His new album came out a couple of weeks ago and it has a little bit of everything. Little bit of old Rock n' Roll mixed in with the great storytelling and folk sounds. Check out his song "Tom Barrett" for another great character study!
I always hear he sounds like bob dylan, but I like to say he’s even better and sounds like John prine. He’s just a little more serious like bob dylan. Honestly though, he sounds like he’s somewhere in between the two.
Thank you so much. Such incredible writing. I wonder how long it would have been before I found him if not for channels like this. Channels like this are so important for the spread and purchase of great music. 🙏 .
You're a great guitarist. But judging by your shirt, you only know how to play expensive ones. Haha just teasin' but many guitar players have to leave PRS off our radars. I play a Rogue and a Crate. Good enough for me. If I had a PRS I'd friggin slay haha cheers
Mr Palmisano thank you for always putting a smile on my face with your wonderful videos. I may not fully understand the theory behind a lot of music but your expressions and happiness doing these videos is a lot of the reason I subscribe and keep coming back. Thank you for all your hard work!
Ha, was listening to this song on spotify on my way home from class just now. Not too often you get Bob Dylan-y, Tom Waits-y vibes from a country artist, but here we are. One thing I'd like to mention, regarding the chord progression, it seems like the 3 chord might just be more of a C#/F. I've found that when I play it, if I play a full-blown Fm it sounds just a little bit off. So with a capo on the 1st fret, just play the C# on the B string, leave everything else open, and let 'er ring. That was the key to the whole song for me. SO happy you listened to this song, love the videos!
Loved that Michael. Am I crazy or did I hear a little bit of a young Bob Dylan in his voice? Great song that shows you can say a lot in a short amount of time if you’ve got great lyrics.
Hey Michael, have you heard ‘Pain Never Hurt Me Like Love by Foy Vance’ Would love a breakdown of his use of softness, licks, and overall finesse. Thanks - a fellow Michael
This guy is a true story teller. Letter to Madeline is truly a masterpiece
Such a great song. The stories great, and those little Neil Young esq guitar fills between the chorus and verse are brilliant. A favourite to cover live!
@@tomandtheoutlaws I drew that connection, too. Ian is truly a generational talent as a songwriter.
He’s incredible. And they say country is dead, this guy, Tyler Childers, Ryan Bingham, Jason Isbell, Turnpike Troubadoors. It’s alive and well.
Correct.
Heck, just check out the entire Western AF channel
Throw John R Miller in there if you haven't heard him. Childers covers one of his songs.
@@proletariatbourgeoisie9929 the new Willi Carlisle song they recently posted is excellent. Highly recommend it if you haven’t heard it yet.
I put Dan Tyminski up there with all those young people...just say'n
“Methhead” is such an amazing song of his. Insightful look at the drug problem in America. I recommend this song to anyone with good taste
His timing is sublime. Love the lyrics too.
Ian is awesome. Hope everyone who watches this checks out his new album he just released.
Thank you for the video! I love Ian Noe! What a beautiful song. And I love your take on them too. Please keep up the great work. Stoked for his new album.

Ian's storytelling is top notch. New album out but Stampede from the same van/jam and letter to Madeline are my favorites.
Dude yes. This made my day. Cheers, Michael
Any time!
Beautiful song with a great message.
And oh yeah, I'm working with a purpose alright. Spent years now with the wheels spinning and I've only managed to dig the tires into a rut. I'm exhausted. Hopefully someday it'll work out.
This, "Irene" and "Letter To Madeline" are favorites of mine from him. That whole album was a constant spin in my house for about a year.
Been listening to Irene on repeat lately.
Letter to Madeline is what got me
Admirable skills.
Thank you for showing musicians like this guy. Wow.
Thanks! That's what it's all about!
Thank you for not only giving guitar lessons but also giving some insight on songwriting. Great
I may be welcome Michael but I'll say thanks anyway :) Love this. Thanks a lot.
The Last Stampede is the best Jam in the Van song that Ian does
Awesome!! 🎸
If you love singwriting you need to check out Faustina by John R Miller. Incredible song.
love this one...almost sent this one to you a couple weeks back...knew you'd love it
correction...i was going to send you Letter to Madeline...so good
His mother is an old school friend of mine.
Going to see him tonight actually...
I came across Ian Noe on the UA-cam channel GemsOnVHS. They spotlight amazing artists! It's also where I found Sierra Ferrell and Arlo McKinley
Where can I get the artwork in the background?

Methhead is amazing
Wow. Thanks man.
This is real reacting
? Acoustic ? Brother!
He reminds me, vocally, of Grant Lee Philips
You gotta check out Willi Carlisle. He writes songs that'll make you cry! Tulsa's Last Magician, Cheap Cocaine, Angels, The Grand Design
I drove 4 1/2 hours each way on my birthday to see him in concert in the middle of the mountains in Kentucky. I don't regret it one bit.
Where in Kentucky?
I was fortunate enough to teach Ian in high school. He writes about our hometown of Beattyville Ky
RIght on. Big time John Prine vibes.
Similar cadence to John's song Paradise.

That’s my favorite off the new album

Listen: Just here to remind you about Albert King and Gary Moore “Stormy Monday” live…
Thank you so much. Such incredible writing. I wonder how long it would have been before I found him if not for channels like this. Channels like this are so important for the spread and purchase of great music.
🙏 .
He sounds like the love child of Neil Young and Bob Dylan!
Dude looks like Neil Young
I love this guy, genuinely gifted which presumably means he’ll make a living but not a fortune… and yet 1 Direction exists!!
hi sir i ask you to react to alip ba ta guitarist fingerstyle

“Off this mountain top” is one of his best! Doesn’t get the listens it deserves
Ian is a dangerous man with a song. His work will never decompose

Ian is tremendous. Tried booking Ian years ago as a young talent buyer - no luck! Letter to Madeline sounds like the Skyline Drive in VA looks
Please do Ian Noe "Ancient Song" -- from the movie Last Manhunt.... I am so glad pure guitar playing and song writing is not done....
Something John Prine about him and his lyrics. Another troubadour.
Please do a video of Ian Noe the last stampede ❤ its a great song
I was grateful to see Ian Noe open for Marcus King in 2019. Truly amazing!
Kentucky artist will always be on top ( I’m from Kentucky )
Love Ian Noe, I'm always surprised how few people I talk to have heard of him

Loved that Michael. Am I crazy or did I hear a little bit of a young Bob Dylan in his voice? Great song that shows you can say a lot in a short amount of time if you’ve got great lyrics.
I think his voice sounds more like Arlo Guthrie or his dad Woody. The later is where Dylan got it from. Either way his writing is just amazing.
No you heard a whole ton of Bob Dylan in thwre
STUNNING.....NUFF SAID!! THANKS MICHAEL .....LOVE YOUR WORK. LOVE YOUR ATTITUDE. LOVE YOUR .... LOVE OF MUSIC. INFECTIOUS, AND INSPIRING.

Love your words Michael. Thanks for the inspiration
Yes, it;s an emotional song. So much beauty. The title keeps me thinking.
Another winner, Michael. Hope you and your family are well! 🔥🎸🔥
Theo Katzman jamming in the van is pretty great.
Saw him open for Marcus King a few years ago, he was awesome!
I looked him up on youtube. He has a lot of sad songs.
So glad to see others enjoying his music
