"My heart is still caught in the reeds" Through terrible circumstances Moses was left to drift down the Nile among the reeds. Though the enemy through Pharaoh sought to kill him, God's plans were to give him a future and a hope. A broken world set Moses among the reeds, but a loving Father guided him into a new life within which he was able to find life and accomplish miraculous and wonderful things.
How often the trauma and pains of our past keep us from trusting in the healer. I hear this artist's heart in this song. Wanting to believe in a God of miracles, in a God that wants him and chooses him but being held back by deep hurts that keep him from that true intimacy with the Father. I pray for us that we know that though pains of our past may have caused the destruction of the life that we hoped for and deserved, that our loving Father yet has for us a future and a restoration.

Chris, I need you to know that your music helped me through one of the most depressing times in my life. Your honest and raw lyrics just speak to me so much more than the most popular Christian hits. I’ve never cried to music before until i listened to yours, and that’s huge!! It spoke to me as if God was speaking to me through you. His music has been a major impact in my walk with God. In the midst of confusion, sin, and struggle, its like i can feel the Holy Spirit really using this music to speak to God's children. Chris definitely has a different style than the more known Christian artists and is very underrated

I love how transparent and honest Chris Renzema music is. It’s exactly how we should approach God and speak to Him. The book of Psalms is clear that many people were blood honest and RAW with the LORD when praying to Him.
I wanted to share that the Bible says that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. And because we all have sinned against a Holy God, we are all worthy of His just and eternal wrath. But God, being rich in mercy, took on flesh and lived 33 years; a sinless life. He then willingly laid down His life and took it up again three days later and whoever will repent and believe in him will be saved.
Wow. I felt this sudden urge to pull up UA-cam just five minutes ago and listen to “Jacob” or something like that, only to find this song released at the exact same moment. It truly blessed my soul. Can’t wait for more of these character-inspired songs! Great job, Chris!

Everything about the music you write and the parallels you make to the bible characters is encouraging because what you go through, what Moses has gone through, what others have gone through and myself too proves that we are all alike and despite all the miracles and blessings God added to our lives it's all the very reason why He sent Jesus. Thank you for sharing your talents and staying steadfast. It's a hard but joyful walk even when caught in the reeds.

I love Chris' Music!! But what does Just that rivers bastard child mean?
I’d say that Chris is making a statement about who Moses was, a bastard being a child who grew up without his biological Father, as we know was the case for Moses due to being sent down the nile...But I’d say Chris was also making a spiritual connection with himself as well. For we are all helpless apart from our Heavenly Father! Chris just being RAW like always.
