i got this same knife as a birthday gift from my mother 20 years ago maybe a bit longer been carrying every day since.the blades are now black but still holds a great edge...thanks mom RIP... I love you.
A similar pattern in concept is the "Muskrat" which is a sort of variation on a Trapper. It also features two main blades, but in an opposite-end-jack configuration instead of the single-end-jack of a Trapper. A Muskrat usually has two clip blades instead of a clip and a long spey, but is otherwise similar in having two main-size blades. It mostly comes down to whether you prefer a clip and a spey, or two clip blades.
Great timing. I like me some Case knives and have been giving serious thought to getting a Trapper and of their open-topped belt sheaths. Keep up the good work!
I actually got the 2020 vault pattern (Pocket hunter) in Harvest orange, while lacking in some walk and talk areas, the tip is needle sharp. I am very very surprised and perfectly pleased. Case can still do it right, and i have hope they will pick up their game in some of their weaker areas.
Nice one Logan and from my Hart wish you from other side of World beautiful , relaxing weekend with your Family and loved ones ..........your friend and great Fun ..........R
The Chrome Vanadium is their best steel for holding an edge, however you will have to clean it and Case has a cleaner called Case Paste. If all you are going to cut is fish and veggies than stainless will do.
I've got one. Don't care for the California clip. A clip should be a clip, pointy. Can't find a use for the speys other than spread peanut butter. There must be a neutering/skinning frenzy going on, I find a pen far more useful. Wish Case would bring back the old Dogleg jack.

Case CV is 1095 a much better steel than 440a used by a Chinese company. CV holds a good edge!
I play with my Trapper when I am sitting on the Crapper...😂
Lol
Nice video Logan. I have that same knife in CV steel. It's a classic. 👍
Definitely a classic
Nice vid! I really like the trapper pattern an the case mini trapper is one of my most carried blades👍
It's a nice size, the mini
I have the Case Sodbuster Jr. and like it very much. Good price too.
A Great Knife For Me!!😊😊
Also Case SS is 420HC which again is an improvement over 440A

Thanks Reno! Same to you and yours 👍

They both work for me but each has their benefits
I love the yellow case xx knives
Good stuff, I didn’t know any of that 👍
Always happy to help!
Logan Stout : Would this knife hold up to heavy use, Such as cutting open packages & stripping bark off a stick? Or should I use a modern lockback.
It would definitely hold up to cutting open packages and stripping bark.
hey logan was wondering if you picked up any more rough ryder knives lately
Hey Justin, not lately. Probably later this year. I'm on a knife buying hiatus until my wedding. But thanks for checking in!
@@KnifeThoughts congrats! i hope everything goes to plan
I love the trapper pattern. I make a great belt carry trapper sheath called the woodbooger trapper sheath, have you tried one yet?
No but it sounds interesting, quite the name!
@@KnifeThoughts thanks alot and keep doing the great videos
@@KnifeThoughts I make them from 5/ 6 oz veg tan leather so they can take a pounding in the field.
But what is the defining factor/feature that makes it a trapper?
That's the question! It's more of a "What isn't a Trapper?" question. Check out the article on KnifeThoughts.com for full thoughts

I do too. The Dogleg Jack is nice. But I do like two full sized blades. Thanks for watching!
Exactly what we use for skinning hogs and deer. Works great!!
Very cool
