You’re the only of the so many bloggers about Philippines who delve into this subject. You even really carried that taho thing. I respect you even more. You are so kind. Also the taho vendor is so smart could even speak English and so sweet. Same respect for him. May he gets more subscribers.

Dang I remember there was three real TV shows in the USA it reminds me of Evening Magazine and Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe and Huell Howser's California's Gold. Jessica Lee the idea to do the Trabajo series from TV Specials in Korea or Philippines. But I remember hearing that "Evening Magazine", California's Gold paved the way for today's UA-cam hosts.

This is one of the best ways to help Filipino vendors, not money but a respect for the vendors. dito sa content ni JESSICA ay ipinapakita nya na dapat natin irespeto at ipagmalaki ang mga naghahanapbuhay, kahit mahirap ang trabaho nila pero marangal silang naghahanapbuhay para sa kanilang pamilya
, and also gives a lesson to people who look down on Filipino vendors, construction workers, tricycle drivers, & etc...
thank you jessica for creating amazing content. we appreciate your efforts.. godbless u Jess, stay Healthy and strong .. 🥰🥰🥰

What? Nobody looks down on taho venors. The philippines is full of charitable Catholics and NGOs and aid organizations. The difference is that no upper class people would want to work as a taho vendor, and the most elitist people dont even leave their subdivisions often enough to ever know what the social injustices are.
I mean seriously, you cant watch a variety show, news broadcast, drama, or local film that doesnt somehow glorify the poor.

I'll give you an 'A' for effort and for breaking even for the day, despite the lack of demand in the area. Apparently, Malate isn't exactly the best place to sell taho these days.
One sales principle that's always stuck with me is that you need to "go where the fish are hungry." I'm sure you could've sold the whole pail in a few hours if you had gone to a busy school or a spate of office buildings in a business district. Think Ortigas, Makati, and techno hubs in QC. Kuya Gimmy could scout out those areas to find some untapped captive markets, and get some sukis (regulars).
Another thing he could do to turn a tidy profit is to set up shop online and do bulk order gigs. Getting contracted for a party or event would probably cover a day or two of work, albeit without the same level of arduousness. At any rate, it was a good vlog all around.

Experiencing even just the glimpse of struggle of my fellow countrymen deserves so much respect..
    Not everyone can do it..
    Not everyone will do it..
Not everyone would even dare to try it..
.. yet, you do.. a foreigner..
Your love for this country will never be questioned..
Because for those who do this on their daily lives, you somehow have shared something with them and for sure, your appreciation and respect to them or their jobs will always be above than anyone else who hasn't experienced it.
Salute to you, the girl behind the mural..☺️

kudos to Jessica for really exerting the effort to sell taho. Everyone here should know that Jessica did it (and for the whole trabaho series) not merely to have a content or merely "for the vlog." Her Trabaho Series really capture how the everyday life of these vendors go. AND we can see that Jessica really learns just by listening from the insights she has to share from her experience.

I salute this korean youtuber - Ms Jessica Lee for loving our Filipino Culture. I’m watching all her videos more than a year now and this is my first time to leave a comment on her video.
It is just so overwhelming and very touching, hearing from a korean that she is worried that this kind of filipino culture might be disappeared someday. Imagining it myself that there wouldn’t be any taho vendors shouting “tahoooo” in our village that would be definitely so sad 😭😭😭
Sometimes we neglect these kind of vendors without knowing what would be the impact to us if they are totally gone. It would be heart-breaking because they are part of our childhood.
Thank you Ms Jessica for this realization. You are definitely doing a great job in giving us good videos. You are an effective youtuber with a sincere heart ♥️…
If there comes a time that you want to quit doing videos, just remember that in your own little way you are inspiring us to be a good citizen of our own country. You are truly living your purpose.
Continue what you are doing. Continue inspiring us. You are on the right path. More power to your channel!

Just continue exposing yourself to situations where you have to speak in Tagalog and you’ll get better at it in no time! Good job Jessica, as always! From your taho history lesson to a “what now?” closing. This was a good episode. Thank you.

May taho hero in our place in QC was Mang Jun. When I was little I always chased him around the village every morning. That's the real taste of taho that I knew, the texture and taste were very consistent every day and nothing like it. EVER.
One time he was pointing to my then 6 year old cousin while saying that he used to sell her mother taho when she was that little. That would make approximately 50 years of selling taho. When I became a teenager, I could talk to him like an adult, he told me stories how he sent his sons and daughters to college and that he could stop selling taho anytime but for health reasons he needed the exercise and it was never a bad thing to make money. I never seen him age a bit, he looked all the same to me thoughout the years. I used to move home from province to Manila and vice versa so I never seen nor heard from him since then. I just found 3 years later that he already died 3 years ago.
In an episode of StrangeBrew Tado asked when he saw the magtataho removing the water from the pail:
    "Ano po ginagawan nyo?"
    "Tinatanggal ko lang yung tubig"
"Bakit sino ba naglalagay ng tubig dyan?" xD

Kuya Taho in my village also sells "tokwa". It's the most delicious tokwa I've ever tasted. The ones sold in Palengkes or grocery stores can't even compare to tokwas from taho vendors. It was cooked the same day and since it's a handmade one, it lasts for days.

Anyways, this is another great Trabaho series. I always love how she provides educational history of the subject as well as the vendor. Kudos for always trying things even if it might be difficult. Another enriching memory to add to one's life experiences.❤❤❤ I always try to tell myself to create memorable and wonderful life experiences that will add to your life's growth. Btw, did you ask Kuya if he has another job once he finishes vending Taho in the morning? Curious kung meron pa siyang ibang trabaho sa hapon. Very well done series and great job to you and your team as usual!!! Looking forward to the next one!

All salute and love for Tatay Gimmy and all the Taho vendors who still giving this inexpensive and yet not getting old street food and sweet dessert ❤️❤️. Despite all those long walking, carrying that heavy items just to sell Taho, enduring the weather every day, and working tirelessly for their families. All salutes for them 💐💟

It's awesome to see Jessica Lee learn Tagalog...even cute in a way. I realize that she doesn't think it's perfect, but to me, it's good enough. I'm sure she noticed that pinoys are speaking more in "Tag-lish" anyway. And she's doing fine.
I'm just glad that I'm not in the Philippines anymore...
If she sold Taho in real life, I'd be buying all the Taho she ever wants to sell!

it's 2:18am, I see this.. and now I'm craving for taho sooo baaaad
i usually order one big glass (my own), and another big glass of just the tofu/soy(white stuff) w/o the arnibal(syrup) and boba.
although, when I'm cutting I only order a glass of the tofu
Here, in Davao a lot of our taho vendors customized their bicycles so they load them on it instead of carrying them on their shoulders.
Similar to balot vendors, they some times have horns or megaphones to make their "battle cry" louder.
And similarly to the traditional balot vendors, we hafta run and catch up to them cause they pass by our houses quick!
SO we would yell out for them first, then grab our glasses from inside when they're waiting outside house.
Which works for other neighbors when they see it too.

I don't know why taho vendors don't put those containers on a wheeled cart and just push it instead of carrying it around on your shoulders all day. Must be some kind of tradition to always carry the containers on your shoulder. Jessica is the first female taho vendor ever! (never seen a female taho vendor)

I think it's because of ease of mobility on the sidewalks. Also if you've ever pushed liquid in a container on wheels on the street, especially if its lubakl-ubak, it would splash all around. I don't know but maybe some do put them on wheels pero wala pa akong Nakita na ganun.

She's very much into Filipino culture. That's why she married my brother. I wish you all the best in life there in the Philippines & South Korea. My next holiday will be in South Korea with my brother & Korean sister-in-law after Europe. Salamat & Mabuhay ka for promoting work, life, food & culture in the Philippines & Korea. 🥰🥰🥰

11:00 Okay, it's great that she was imparting her knowledge, but she came across as irritable. Be calm. Actually, the scooper used by Jessica and the taho vendor here is very different from what classic taho vendors used back in the 1980s and 1990s. I can see why the lady was correcting Jessica's scooping technique, given that she was already using an unfamiliar and maybe incorrect scooper. It does the job, but it could be better.
Jessica, I respect your eagerness to immerse yourself in traditional Filipino traditions. I hope you never change what you are doing. You appear to be an exceptionally grounded person, and we appreciate you sharing your experiences in the Philippines with us. It makes me miss the Philippines so much. Filipinos are absolutely lovely people who smile and love despite poverty and challenges in their lives.

First time to hear you speak in Filipino. Well done, babe! You're pretty tall huh! "Magtataho" - such an tough job! Too much physical work -- the weight, the heat of the sun, Shouting to get people's attention, kneeling/benting down, scraping out the water etc. You can actually scrape out the water to the street. It's something normal. The only littering aloud!
Free Taho for subscription! NOT FOR Kuya Gimmy! He is literally investing just to get subscribers. He could actually put a sticker containinnhis UA-cam channel on his containers. Maybe, you could help him out on that. PLEEEASE do! In addition to this vendor challenge you are making. We have here on Mandaluyong, barangay Mauway (well the probably sell to our barangays too) Fish Vendors. Same thing, they carry their products except without the Kawayan or Bamboo stick carrier. If you haven't you could do that too. Try to see them. Include Fruit/Bukod Vendors as well!

Another street vendor I miss in the province are the pandesal vendors riding bicycle in the morning. We call them POT-POT - the sound of the horn use to call customers.

may nanalo na! l really like your content because you kept it real, most foreigner content creators in pinas shows only the good side of life and use subtle bragging on their content by helping people, in my opinion helping people in need needs no documentation, like you've just said on your recent video where you pose as a tindera at a bakery where you used the term "humanity".. coz' true humanity sets in at unexpected places with unexpected people. when you carried that tub of taho not only i remembered balut, palitaw and lumpia vendors back in the Philippines when i was a kid but also 짭쌀떡 vendors here in Korea. good work and more blessings to come..

Note if you live in California there used to be a show called "California's Gold" with Huell Howser back in the 1990's to 2000's he used to do something like this various jobs while he was talking to the management of the place.
Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe was like that too in the USA.

I started buying taho back in 70s when it is sold, I think,
P 0.10 (ten centavos) per cup. Back then, they do carry it up to what is now. It should be mechanized now, like in a bike or cart. I can see how heavy it is, like when you lift it. That should be changed.
