    Okay I’m only 2 min in but it’s crazy you started this channel for you, because I’ve heard you say in several videos how you like doing these videos since they help people. It’s amazing that your outlet has also become a way for you to help people, your selflessness is incredible.

    Yes, Mary! I created the life I wanted and it started 8 years ago with just a few steps in the right direction and now I am more happy than I have ever been. I get to work a PT job and make videos for my YT channel with the rest of my time. I am extremely happy with my life and would love for others to experience the same happiness. Thank you for starting your channel!

    Your thoughts about not picking up after your kids and not catering to them were exactly what I needed to hear today! I've always done too much around the house for my kids and I see now that it is not setting them up for success. Plus it leaves me stressed out. Anyway I've been watching your channel for a few years now and it's so awesome to see how it's grown. You're the best Mary! 💖

    I am one of those people you talked about in this video that you help. I have depression and anxiety. I have learned to identify triggers that will lead to a downward spiral. Instead, I stop and taking time for a way to relieve stress. Often times, I find relief from watching your videos. Your gentle, kind voice is so soothing and I love your positive content that helps me to focus on better things. You help me stay at peace and I'm sure I speak for many people with similar issues. After watching this video in its entirety, my mind and heart are full. I enjoy listening to your childhood stories, I seek out those kinds of conversations often. Thank you for always being firm in your decisions not to discuss certain topics and I'm so sorry that some people act in such a way that you have to look over your shoulder. I love listening to your inspirations, your motivational advice, it has helped me tremendously.
    I do have one question, if you have a chance to respond at some point. I lost my job where I worked for over 10 years and for the last 5 I worked 16+ hour days. Going from such a hectic schedule to absolutely no schedule, combined with it taking longer than anticipated to find work and a complete lack of a social life, how do you become comfortable doing things by yourself? How do you learn to enjoy your own company?

    • @princesspattycakeswm
      @princesspattycakeswm 5 років тому +1

      Like anything else it's just practice! The more you do things alone, the more you'll enjoy it and less you will feel odd. Especially if you're someone who feels uncomfortable doing things that people tend to do with others like dining out or going to a movie. Those are two of my favorite things to do by myself and just remember what Mary herself said: even if I give them a weird loook I never think about it later, I just go on about my day. And she's totally right. If you feel like people are thinking you're weird for being alone just think about if you saw someone dining alone or seeing a movie alone: would it even register to you? Probably not. And if anyone does care, they're the weirdo.

    I really felt what you said about not doing everything for everyone and taking time for yourself. That is really inspiring. I am currently in the mist of raising five children with a husband who works full-time. I feel like I drive myself crazy trying to be A wife, a mother, the cook, the maid, the Chauffeur, the teacher, The nurse, The seamstress, the organizer and everything else that I literally got fed up! I went and booked myself a week vacation by myself because I literally thought I was going to go insane. I love my family with every beat of my heart but sometimes it gets overwhelming. They were days where I wasn’t able to brush my teeth or comb my hair because I am busy doing everything for everybody else, And I wouldn’t allow myself to pee Because I was running around doing everything that I would get UTIs. It finally came to the point where I had a therapist told me that if I don’t start taking time for myself I will end up going crazy.
    All that to say thank you for being an inspiration to me and others out there by letting them know that you don’t have to be perfect and that you don’t have to do everything and that it’s ok to take time for yourself!

    Do you have any tips on living away from home for first year of University, and tips on how to get a job quickly with very minimal experience?

    • @SouthernASMRSounds
      @SouthernASMRSounds  5 років тому +16

      It's hard for me to give advice on being away from home for the first time. My home life was hell, and I was more than happy to get out of there. I graduated at 17 and was GONE. I love my parents, but it's much better to deal with them separately. They divorced about 25 years ago, and it was really the best thing that ever happened to my family. Everybody's much happier now, and all that stress is gone.
      How to get a job quickly with minimal experience?
      Dress nice for the interview.
      Don't walk in there with slouchy, wrinkled, unkempt clothes and hair.
      Stand and sit up straight.
      Look the interviewer in the eye.
      Don't mumble.
      Please don't say "like" fifty times per sentence.
      Practice the interview process with someone beforehand.
      Google "interview questions and answers" and have some answers ready for the interview.
      Have faith in yourself and as much confidence as you can muster.
      Be ready to learn new things in a hurry once you do get the job.
      NEVER say "That's not my job." Help out wherever you can. Your employer will definitely notice.
      You are not "too good" for any job. If you have very little experience, drop the entitlement attitude.
      You can learn things from every job. I worked as a janitor for a while in college and don't regret the experience.
      Take whatever job you can get, and build on your skills and experience from there to go on to better jobs in the future.
      Always present yourself at your best, no matter what your job is. Dress appropriately every day.
      Put your cell phone AWAY. Keep it locked in a locker or somewhere else safe, but you are there to work, not scroll through the interwebs.
      Be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays. When you're new, you'll probably be expected to do a lot of it. That's fair. The ones who have been there longer deserve to have more of the hours/shifts that they prefer. You don't. Not right off the bat, anyway. You have to work up to that.
      Your employer owes you NOTHING beyond a paycheck. Find out what the pay and benefits will be before you start. If you take the job, don't complain later that they aren't paying you enough or giving you enough benefits.
      If you don't like the pay and benefits, work there until you have enough experience to get a better job.
      Be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day, and your work history won't be, either.
      Be consistent. Show up to work on time and work your entire shift.
      Don't complain. Roll up your sleeves and just GET IT DONE.
      ...That's all I have for now. It should be a good start for you.

    Mary is a paragon of doing what you want. She's honestly one of my role models right now.
