This video really explains & shows what to do. We are working on waterfall area & in the past we have had leaks, losing water as it splashes around & not flowing the way we want. It is so hard to control the flow & one can goes too quickly! How many cans did you use?
First, you should never have a leak outside the pond due to foaming issues. Liner only diverts water, it is not waterproof. How much foam depends on construction style. If we have huge rocks with large gravel drains we can use 1/2 can of foam per waterfall, over however many waterfalls are down the hillside. We've also used as little as 1/4 can on a 12 foot pondless. So the right answer must be, "yes" lol
Thanks for the patience! Koi and goldfish get along well together, and goldfish can be in ponds alone also. Make sure they don't make it to our native waterways though!
Sounds like it will for the most part, seal a small waterfall feature containing water to flow into my small pond. I do not have a liner under my very large rocks. Will the seal it creates between rocks be sufficient to keep water from leaking through? Will this seal pull apart or expand/shrink with temperature changes enough to create leaks?
Thanks for the comment and patience while waiting on reply! The foam should not shrink over time, but if you built your waterfall on excavated soil that wasn't compacted properly it will settle causing the rocks to pull apart. The foam is semi-rigid once dry, so if this happens it will pull away. Make sure you have a clean surface on the rocks and that will help. All that though, we never rely on foam being our "waterproofing", we rely on liner for that. Can the foam seal water in? basically but we love to keep the water in the pond for less maintenance down the road. We've seen foam last for many years on falls we've built, it all is based on compaction and virgin soil excavation.

Google translate says you asked what kind of glue. The foam acts as glue. It is super sticky when first put down. When it dries, it becomes almost hard as a rock!

Some box stores sell pond foam, but it's in the DIY can. We would consider giving up pond building if we had to use those on every project... Another, please don't use yellow foam! It's, um, not pretty.
We have a small water fall in our back yard, the ex- owner build it about 6 years ago, we moved in this house about 3 months, it stop working yesterday and dried out , can’t locate the water pump, does it need professional to repair it? Please give me some advise, thank you very much.
If you can’t find the pump, having someone look over the pond who does it professionally may be beneficial. They may be able to show you the basics of how it’s built, and how the system should work. We have a leak blog on our website, and will be recording more videos on leak detection soon! Follow the electric cord and that should lead you to the pump.
Foam just breaks down and turns to dust, then you have a thousand leaks. Best to fold the liner over, use the liner not foam. It's more work but last forever, I have seen too many nightmares because of people relying on foam.
You're right that foam only diverts water, it doesn't stop water. If water is leaking out of your pond because the foam broke down you have other issues. You need a good liner to keep water in the pond and only use foam to divert water over the falls. The top reasons we've seen foam fails: 1. Exposure to UV light. If the sun can't see the foam it won't break down. 2. Improper compaction under the falls. If the ground settles under the falls moving the boulders that the foam is connected to there will be a crack, allowing water to go behind the falls. You'll still hear the water moving but not see it. 3. Rodent damage. Again, if you can't see the foam and there's boulders/gravel over it, we almost never see foam break down.
I have that foam and it’s unbelievably infuriating that it’s labeled as black, but when it dries it’s GREEN. Not subtle, dark green. No. Pretty bright yellow and green.
They did have a production issue with covid shortages. This was taken before that. They have/are working on the color issue, and will be back to normal soon!
Fantastic instruction. More please

Is this safe to use if a person has gold fish in their pond????

Do you have to prep the rocks if you’re repairing existing waterfall?
They can't be caked with dirt and no flowing water.
While best clean and dry, they don't have to be squeaky and dry.
