    AWESOME! I did it exactly as shown in this video except that I didn't make the side channel cuts, just the top cuts and it worked like a charm! THANK YOU! :)

    I can't believe you held that in your hand when cutting it. That is probably the single most dangerous thing I have ever seen on UA-cam. It would have been so simply to use a pliers to hold that.

    @LumpyLemming Because the set screw is a round hole and not made for an allen or any other type of screw head. So when you tap in the screw extractor. You are basically making the screw accept the extractor bit.

    So are you saying that a standard hose/connector from a CGA 320 will thread onto the sodastream tank valve to fill it after this adjustment is performed?

  • @JoffreyBienvenue

    have you done it with the latest valves? they seem to be glued - not looking like an easy out will work...

    Thanks for posting this video. It's very helpful. Once I make this modification, and screw the valve back onto the canister, is it then ready to take to a local paintball shop for an easy $3 co2 refill?

    @SodaClub1 what size easy out did you use? we tried this and could not get it to work.

    So I guess the flathead screwdriver isn't needed :) The new fill station on SodaCO2 says it bypasses the double valve protection.Do you think we need to do this mod if we have that fill station?

    The newer valves have a metal screen, but its still the same thing, you take it out the same way. It has no threads, its just tapped into place. You can use an easy out/screw extractor, a screw or something like a dent puller to remove it.

    i think these must be different to the valve on Australian Soda Stream co2 bottles. There is nothing to unscew on the bottom. Do you know how to fix the Australian valves. Do your refill stations fit the Australian valves?

  • @en2oh
    @en2oh 2 роки тому

    did you try an allen wrench to remove the plug rather than the EZ-out?

  • @en2oh
    @en2oh Рік тому

    wish you had been able to show the valve in a little more detail. The valve I have seems to have a movable plastic check valve that can be pushed back from the bottom.... it does not appear that the bottom plug is threaded. It looks like it is an interference fit with a six point expansion ring that sets it in place. I wonder if this is a new style of valve?

  • @en2oh

    what size EZ-out are you using?

    I have yet to find one that is not some form of this valve. There are 3 different types of valve. The original type does not need to be modified. The others can be modified by this process.

    Hi mate,
    Could you tell me if this modification will work on Australian Soda Stream cylinders?
    I have managed to refill only one of my cylinders - the rest are booby trapped - which if so ****ing annoying.
    I realise your vid is from 2009 - do you know if they have changed the valve again since then?
    Cheers
    Dave

    If it is a set screw, then why wouldn't you just use an allen wrench to remove the pin assembly instead of a screw extractor?

    Can i purchase one or two of these modified valves from you? i could trade you an unmodified one. I just have had no luck doing this modification with these newest valves.

    Great video!
    Is there an update to this procedures for even newer valves?
    I unscrewed the valve of one bottle I have. It seems the valve is shielded off against tampering by an edge on the inside hole.

    • @panicp2000
      @panicp2000 7 років тому

      Have you had any joy on this? It seems 4 of my bottles are booby trapped and I'm not sure of the best way forward!

    • @vincenzo-zocca
      @vincenzo-zocca 7 років тому +1

      No, I haven't had any feedback from anyone and I also didn't find a solution. I resolved to returning the "bad" cylinders, have them refilled and swapped, and wait for a usable valve. As of now I have three cylinders with good valves and I don't even need the modification. (Took me just one iteration.)

    • @panicp2000
      @panicp2000 7 років тому

      Ah ok - did you find it was easy to "vet" the cylinders you replaced for a non-booby trapped one?
      I'm not sure whether just to go ahead and try the modification above.
      Do you know anything about the "newer" valves and how they are different? You'd think there was only so much these ****ers can do to them to stop people legitimately refilling their own bloody cylinders.
      Cheers mate.

      I would not hesitate to do this mod. The description is clear. I've even joined my brother in law with modding his cylinder. As we didn't have an easy out / screw extractor I left him at it on another day.
      There are however valves that have a rim on the inside to make tempering way harder or maybe even impossible.
      I was just lucky to get a good replacement cylinder. I could not have vetted these before buying as they come sealed in plastic.
      I'd next consider the SodaMod Adapter. But so far I'm fine.

    you could simply replace the valve with one of the chinese versions on eBay

    Use a 5/32 easy out

  • @sushi8204

    I don't think my 60L cylinder has any one way valve. No set screw either. Al it has is a long 1.5 inch spring that pushes nylon washer to seal the cylinder.

    • @johndelaney8405
      @johndelaney8405 7 років тому

      Eugene, Mine is the same as yours I believe, when I removed the valve I noticed the opening where the video inserts the 'easy out' looks to be about 3/8" and mine is only 1/8" and has a little filter screen covering the hole. Bummer!! Guessing this is the new new anti tamper valve... One option I guess is to Replace the factory Valves with the C02 doctor FreedomValve™ for $30 :-( ....Or just fill real slow!!

    • @sushi8204
      @sushi8204 7 років тому

      I don't have slow fill problem. It fills just as quick as my paintball cylinder. But I freeze it first. If you have a problem there is a video on how to modify the valve (grooves on the side) on UA-cam.

    • @johndelaney8405
      @johndelaney8405 7 років тому

      Thanks, ya that is the video I was referring to. My valve is different (from a new 2016 sodastream), no set screw and no obvious way to remove the valve to modify as in the video...

    • @sushi8204
      @sushi8204 7 років тому

      I think we are talking about two different things. Your cylinder has a valve just like mine. But it is nothing more than a brass piece that pushes in to hard nylon seal and another brass piece from the top that pushes seal to open just like in the paintball cylinder. You have to have an adapter with screw pusher to refill your cylinder. They are sold on Ebay for about $10 with shipping. Usually black in color with the Black or Brass color screw on top
      www.ebay.com/itm/Aluminum-Pressure-On-Off-Adapter-With-1500PSI-Gauge-For-Fill-SodaStream-Tank-/232111641629?hash=item360aee941d
      So when you screw in it opens the valve. Maybe whatever you use does not open valve far enough and you get slow fill.

      I have the late model canister from Sodastream. I removed the filler neck today from two bottles and they both have the 10mm hex on the end. I removed that hex nut and removed a 1 1/2" long spring. I have purchased the dual valve refill system from Palmer until the needle broke and rendered it useless. I bought an aluminum black one, that you mention in the previous reply. I still can't seem to get the canisters to fill like before. Is there anything we can do to MOD the spring loaded valve on this canister to allow it to flow the gas easier?
