When Garth himself comes out and says he absolutely loves the cover and wishes he “had the balls to do it like that”, you know they nailed it.
He said that? Damn!
It'd be incredible if they collaborated with Garth for a version of this song... Damn!
@@CaseyScoffieldWOW ua-cam.com/video/WWeeqrQruew/v-deo.html
@@MitchYurko I was thinking the same thing.
Dang that is crazy
Let's go!! Thank you all for the love and support!
Thanks again for blessing the track, my man!!
Wish you had more of a impact on the song Brandon but still enjoyed it
Great song better than the original
@@WilliamJohnson-zr5by ehh it's a wonderful tribute to the original
@@STATEOFMINE this version is just awesome! Thank you for doing it.
As someone who grew up with Garth Brooks and had a deep love of country music as a child to a grown up with a deep love of metal, this is a great cover.
I couldnt agree more! I love both genres, and they did amazing on this cover. Even the man himself ( Garth) was impressed!
Imagine being at a concert….lights go down….crowd quiets after cheering….guitar riff just starts, quietly, eerily…thunder in the background….no words, just ominous, painful, eerie music….then suddenly you hear the lead sing “And The thunder rolls…” then the ultimate build up to the big down beat at the end of verse 1 as the lights flash with thunder and the stage is illuminated with fog showing the band ready to rock ours brains out. That’s the concert I want to attend!
This song is electric live at a Garth concert. Amazing!
I am thinking about that just right now. This would be the ultimate goosebumps moment in a live concert - just imagine this and the crowd starts singing along... just wow!
As a country and Garth Brooks fan as well as a fan of most rock I greatly appreciate this cover. It's extremely well done and pays respect to the original.
I agree!!!
Finally someone had the balls to record the third verse
🏀 🏀
For real!
Hearing that third verse gives you a chill.
I play it all the time at weddings. People love it. It finishes the story.
It sounds so good!
I loved this song when Garth Brooks did it years ago, but this band took it to another level!! FANTASTIC!!!!!!
The last verse is essential...."tonight will be the last time she'll wonder where he'd been." One of the best country songs of all time written by Brooks and Alger.
Fans: we need the 3rd verse
State of Mine: oh don’t worry we got something beautiful for y’all.
We’ll always listen to the fans!! Thanks for your support, brother!!
@@STATEOFMINE thank you. You’re welcome.
@@STATEOFMINE y’all guys are amazing I started listening to y’all a while back and y’all continue to surprise me with every song and cover y’all produce keep killing it brothers!!! Much love- jonathan
It was there the whole time . Garth only sang the third verse live though . The third verse was never on the Garth Brooks album because the record producers didn’t like it and thought it was too violent . But that verse already existed . ( This is a cover of the 1990s Garth Brooks hit The Thunder Rolls.)
@@STATEOFMINE beautifully done! Love the heavier sound to it. As I said in another comment, I always thought the song should have gone a little slower for what it was but ultimately a song I've loved since the first time I heard it. You guys did an awesome cover worthy of all praise you get for it.
Something about the 3rd verse of this song just makes it better
I've listened to the original growing up, and I never knew there was a 3rd verse tbh. Lol but this cover just gives me chills anyway
@@LadyLoper actually his original "tapes" from back when had the 3rd version on it but the radio didn't play it. The garth channel on SeriousXM always plays the extended.
Completely agree
@Mr. Hyde you usually only hear it live. Because they thought it was too shocking to be played on the radio
@Mr. Hyde ua-cam.com/video/pQDt44IsUA4/v-deo.html theres a live version with it in it
2:33-2:34, when the guitar an the drums hit those 3 times together, man that's almost enough to send chills up your spine
Yes
Being a purest when it comes to anything Garth Brooks, I wasn't sure what I would think of this. Y'all did it justice in a way that no one else has been able to manage! While you took it "rock" you kept the original feel of the song. Absolutely love this!!!
What an amazing version of a song I have always loved.
Finally we get the third verse
We did it for the people, my brother! Thanks for watching!!
@@STATEOFMINE great job on the song been listening to garth brooks version for a long time and just found your version. All I can say u hit it outta the park with it
Great job like this alot
Third verse is the best verse
@@bigshookum
So say we all!
Guys.... from a hardcore Garth fan, I have no words. I'll try though. First, the mix of country and metal was seamless. Perfect. Just right. Neither was over done.
No screaming metal re-interpretation. Lyrics had just that slight bit more of an edge to match the instrumentals. Kind of like when Seether did a cover of "Careless Whisper", but they toughened it up and made it more epic. That's what you did here.
But then....OMG, y'all did the third verse, (which no one seems to know about when I bring it up) with a matching video to give the full experience. Seeing her pull the rounds and place them on the dresser, implying she was loading the weapon. The confrontation between the two of them in the doorway. The muzzle flash against the door, "...the thunder rolls, and the lightning strikes" represented as a visual. All that. BRAVO!! Best cover on the internet!
Nailed it! State of mine! Brandon Davis! No resolve! 3 artiest that are on fire right now! 🔥
Fucking goosebumps listening to that third verse kick into the chorus again. Bravo guys
Up until ole Garth released the Double Live CD box set years and years ago, now you know why the crowd would always go absolutely fucking ballistic when he would include the third verse in his concerts because up until then, that was the only way to hear it was to go see him live.
@@billplaisance6387 And those concerts were THE BEST!!
This’ll definitely get buried, but I gotta tell you lads, this version is way better. It’s amazing and deserving of all the praise you get, hope you guys get way more attention!
As a dude raised country but grown into metal this is beautiful
One of the greatest covers ever in all of music
Hope everyone here is doing okay these days. Be safe and know that people care about you, even if it may not feel like it at times. If you are feeling troubled, maybe professional help is the answer, or talking to a trusted friend about what you are going through. Wish you all the best.
This is I think the best cover of this song I’ve ever heard. It actually might be the best version period.
Wow, thank you for the kind words - We appreciate you, brother!!
I agree... they took it the perfect level.
Yes I think so as well
@@STATEOFMINE I'm all about the metal, never heard the original before I listened to this. So for me, this is the only version 😉 It rocks, and reaches a whole new audience, and that's NEVER a bad thing.
Well done indeed. Bravo guys 🤘🖤
I agree whole heartedly! Garth Brooks wrote it, these guys perfected it!
God it's good to hear someone actually use the third verse! Adds so much to the song, and this version does it so damn well.
Metal makes this song more powerful.
"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Heaven has no rage, like love to hatred turned, Nor Hell a fury, like a woman scorned." William Congreve
Just watched Garth Brooks say he has seen this and loves it. Well done guys.
Same here! I love it.
Is there a link to the video about Garth's reaction to the cover???
@@alexahamilton5364 Sorry Alexa no. It is on his Facebook page where he does a weekly thing called Inside Studio G, where fans can ask him questions and he answers them. A fan asked had he seen this version and he said he thought it was great and loved it. You can check it out on facebook
@@alandlou2309 that's ok. Thank you!!!
@@alexahamilton5364 He was asked about it on his weekly Facebook "podcast" I'm not sure what you call it! Someone asked him if he had seen it and he said Yes! And he went on the say that the band perfectly interpreted the lyrics and loved the video. He loved being able to see a different genre give it another twist. If you search Garth Brooks on Facebook, you will see the video. (1) Facebook
Pure excellence. This song is never truly complete without the third verse. Everything in the song is leading up to it because when “the lightning flashes in her eyes” and she “reaches for the pistol tucked in the dresser drawer” only then had the storm truly hit them. I didn’t think I could love this song any more than I already did but here we are. Love everything about this cover.
I'm just blown away by this! WOW!!!!! I could listen to this over and over and over again.
Good job guys. The people who are bashing this keep in mind they are not trying to sound like Garth's version. This has some edge to it.
Garth made a public comment on this saying how much he loved it
@@marshelleglenn7349 a fake Garth Brooks commented on my comment. Lol
The third verse sets every hair on the back of my neck on end, wow!
Thank you for watching!! Brandon did an amazing job on that third verse!!
@@STATEOFMINE absolutely amazing, can't wait for the next song you choose, I'm sure it will be awesome!
quite literally one of the greatest covers ever recorded
I absolutely agree with you. It is brilliant
This is the third cover of this song ever and I feel it's the best cover! Garth should be proud!
OK, adding the last version made this the best version ever. I can really get behind a band that REALLY listens to its fans. Thank you guys for this, it is fantastic!!!
I love Garth Brooks. This is a great version. Dare I say my favorite? Glad I stumbled on this. That 3rd version makes the song..
Fan base growing strong!! Another one added. Thanks State of Mine for the amazing music. Love the 3rd verse addition.
Holy Shit...First time hearing you guys ABSOLUTELY KILLING IT... OMG Well Done!!!❤❤❤
So, I'm an old guy who swears by the likes of Cash and Willie Nelson, The Hag, Waylon, George Jones, the list goes on and on....pretty sure that the only 'metal' in those guys' life was in their spurs and their guns.
Never imagined that anyone else could do justice to this song, which is unquestionably one of Garth's best.
But, damn, I gotta say...this is amazing...talk about cutting deep into your heart and soul
You guys rank right up there with the best of the Metal bands....well done!
It's funny Garth said he loves it... wished he had the guts to do a hard rock version of this back in the day LOL
Garth Brooks would have took this song to a whole new level in a metal version I always thought that
It wouldn't have been allowed to play. They blocked the original on most channels
@@jenniferfaus2187 pfft. The blocked the ending . I was always able to watch it.
You call this hard rock? More like hard country.
@@GregFS420 dude its a countty song.....
Please keep on Garth!!!! I would definitely love to see you guys do the “Rodeo” song. Definitely will put your name on the board with us farm boys!!!!
I can't stop listening to this song! It's so awesome, plus it's a great song to listen to when u want to sing it
Seldom are covers as good as the original. It's even less likely it's better. Combine that with the fact you're covering a legend like Garth Brooks and it would be impossible. You, gentlemen, have done the impossible. Dont think I will ever hear the original again without comparing it to you. Thank you, from your newest MAJOR fan.
Disturbed cover of Simon and Garfunkel sound of silence was much better than the original.
That's another good exception of the covers rule.
I just told my husband the exact same thing!!
I legit just said the same exact thing.. No knock what so fucking ever to the original.... But.. as controversial as this opinion is going to be.. some songs just sound better as rock
Pretty sure these men served it on a big ole platter
I agree 👍
Personally I don't think anything can top the original, but yall's version is killer and you definitely did the song justice. If Garth's is a 10, yall's is a 9.9!
I watched the premiere, and I have already re-watched it 3 times!
Me too...
And now it's on my Spotify playlist
Is the third verse version on the spotify
@@adrainnwallace5327 yep 100% I just added it and removed the previous cover
This is way better than garth but all that remains definitely did it best
I love Garth, I am country through and through, but this? They need to do more covers, and that 3rd verse was fucking 🔥🔥🔥 call a 🚒 and put that baby out, we don't deserve them but we got em! Keep doing more!
I haven’t heard many covers of this song but I couldn’t imagine that they get any better than this, absolutely amazing.
That sounds perfectly modern country with enough 80s rock band sound to take me back to better times in my mind
For those who think they wrote this third verse.... This 3rd verse was written by garth brooks into the original song... his producers said it was too much so they dropped the 3rd verse from the album version of the song... Garth Brooks would perform it live only... it was never really put out into the public... it was a special thing he did live.... until now...
Great cover.. amazing job
Actually it was recorded by Lorrie Morgan I believe
@@brandongower4500 it’s actually the fourth verse. “3:30 in the morning” and “every light is burning” are the first two verses.
Garth and Pat Alger wrote the song. It was actually Tanya Tucker who did a track of it for an album, and had the third verse, about her watching him as he comes up the drive, added by the guys at the suggestion of her producer, as well as a fourth verse she wrote herself, the verse about her getting the pistol we hear in the live version and as is done here in the video, but she eventually dropped the song altogether. The track was eventually released as a treat on a box set she released in 1995.
While Tanya was busy contemplating using the song, Alan Reynolds, Garth’s producer, found out about him giving the song away and was disappointed, believing it was one of the most powerful songs Garth had written and that he should be recording it himself. There had to have been some relief for Reynolds when she decided to not use it.
When Garth went to record, the fourth verse was kept off, with Reynolds feeling it was too much. He said on VH1 Storytellers that he was approached by a rep from Capitol Records who said they liked the song but were wondering what happened after she met him at the door, to which he replied “you don’t want to know”. After being pressured a bit, he revealed the fourth verse. That verse became the basis of the visual aspect of the music video and the shocking end point to the live version.
I grew up with Garth Brooks singing it but I absolutely love this! ❤️
great job guys. Its a powerful remake the world was not ready for when Garth did it.
Wow.... Words cannot describe how powerful this song truly is! Excellent version I just came across 💖
The voicing, the orchestration, the modern adaptations in the video, this is the most kick-ass cover of the song ever. Love the work that went into both the video and audio elements of this, respect to my fellow musicians! ❤️
Man if these guys would do a cover of "when doves cry" .... I'd be stoked.
Absolutely the best version I've ever heard. Gave me chills thru the whole song.
I feel like this does the original proper justice. Love it. I was 10 or 11 when it came out, everyone's mom was obsessed w this song and ol Garth. Ya had to be there for it.
i just like the story of the song. what keeps me coming back to whoever singing it.
Me too!
Yup
Holy Christmas!!! The chills from how epic this cover is. 🤯 I'd never heard the original with the third verse, but this is epic and the third verse was definitely needed
Thank you for bringing back that awesome 3rd verse!
I love how you captured the lighting flashing in the woman’s eyes as you sang that line. Nice touch!!
This just proves heavy metal country is awesome.
OH YES!
Gods Country brought me here. I hope Garth sees this! Its amazing!!!!He is really down to earth!

Love the way they turn anything into metal...omg
I love these rock versions of country songs. I hope they do more along with their original music.
That extended verse just makes the whole video!!!
It's a amazing honor to have the artist and writer to say you guys nailed it and they wish they had the balls to do it the way you guys did is that sweet cherry on top. I love it. Just down right amazing can't get enough of it. Keep it coming guys
Beautiful Beautiful version 🎶🎶🎶🎶💯
This make this Garth Brooks fan very happy! A genuine rock cover with the 3rd verse
Love the original but when the lightning flashing in her eyes and they get heavy and angry with that distortion it just gives you chills this is amazing plus the third verse wow!!!incredibly well done new favorite!!👏
This song hit me hard... heard it years ago... damnnn life ;)
Almost 3 years later, and I'm JUST finding out this band and this cover exist. O.O .... Holy...Crap..... This makes me feel like I've been living in a log or something. These guys kick ass!
Same here. I saw the other video, without the 3rd verse, and these guys did an awesome job covering a Garth Brooks classic.
I love this song as a country song but for some reason it seems to fit better as a rock song. You guys killed it 🔥🔥
The absolute best cover of this song. Blows all that remains cover out of the water. That third verse is what sets it apart. I've been a fan of both bands but brandon really added that extra cherry on top. He is an amazing singer. I follow his tik tok page as well and he can do some pretty amazing stuff.
I personally like All That Remains cover more
Goosebumps from the beginning until the end... WOW! Simply WOW!
I'd have to say this is a very superb cover to an excellent country song. You guys gave it your own sound without straying too far from the original. Excellent cover.
I love Garth Brooks, it takes balls to cover one of his biggest hits. Great job! That guitar tone is incredible. It compliments the lighting perfectly.
And Garth likes it
A big set of balls to choose this song ro cover
That third verse is epic. I remember being a youngster and listening to it. Gave me chills like crazy. I'm 40 now, and still gives me chills.
Now THAT is Metal
Incredible. Great job. You guys deserve all the recognition. I love Garth Brooks but it feels like this is the way the song was meant to be done.
Totally agree.
That third verse is amazing, makes this cover 100x better
"The lightning flashes in her eyes" the fact they did that gave me chills, epic scene
Right? The music itself is top notch. The video is epic. Music videos are seldom done this way anymore, which is a travesty.
Goosebumps. I got goosebumps when I heard this. I love Garth but Emo Country is becoming a genre and I’m here for it.

One of the best rock songs I've heard! Definitely going on my playlist with Volbeat!
One of the best versions of this song yes Garth did it good you guys do it Better I love the way you take country music and turn it into rock it sounds John's just amazing I will always be a fan.
Brilliant version of this Garth Brooks song 🤘
You have no idea how thrilled I was that you guys decided to include the 3rd verse. The entire history of it, the emotion of the song, it was never compete and you guys made it that way! Thank you
Garth Brooks was my childhood, and this cover did nothing but justice!!! Amazing work guys!!!
Awesome!!! just awesome!!!!! great cover STATE OF MIND hope y'all do some more, c'mon bring it on🤟🤟🤟🤟
I have always liked this song. That being said, this is the best version I've heard. Keep it up!!! Ya all need more recognition!!!
Wish Supernatural was still on tv, because damnit this song we could have killed it in the show. I can see Sam and Dean killing spirits left and right and this playing in the background, c'mon this is fucking EPIC!!!!! Thanks guys!!!
I totally agree!!!!!!
Garth Brooks should be proud that NOT ONLY did someone do his song better, buuut, has the biggest set of NUTTZ for the third verse. 👊
This was amazing, but I still wouldn't say it's better.
Nothing tops the original version with the bass boosted on a good quality car stereo with a good subwoofer setup.
I love garth brooks version but God dam
....... this one is on a whole different level....absolute kudos 👏
someone interviewed garth about this cover... he said he wishes he had had the balls to do this song like this. his words
Wouldn't it be awesome if they did a cameo with Garth doing the 1st verse and Trisha doing the 4th verse?
To take a song with that energy and message to a higher level is awesome!
Love it as country and love it as rock!!
