Question; mine has the same radio like in the video. Could I replace it for factory radio but with the one that has gps and XM? My is a 2012 Prius C and it looks like it’s the entry trim level. No push to start or no radio woth gps (like you’re). What do you think? I don’t want any “aftermarket” radio. Thanks a lot!
I'm going to be doing the EXACT same install this weekend (same head unit/ harnesses /etc).... Can you go into any more detail about maintaining steering wheel controls? What wires did you use? What needed to be modified / cut to sync up with the ATOTO. Did you need any 3rd party piece of equipment to link the Toyota > ATOTO? I'm also going to add a rear view camera while I have everything apart. Thanks a ton! - Phil
Sure, no problem! Basically there are 2 connectors that hook up to the back of the OEM radio. The first one is the one that you end up plugging the adapter into in order to hook up to your new head unit and the second one ends up not being plugged in and just sits in the dash. On the 2nd (unused) connector there is a blue and a pink wire. We cut the blue and pink wires and used some wire to extend them out for convenience. Then, on the wiring harness that came with the ATOTO there will be a Steering Wheel Control 1 and 2 wire. If you just connect your extended wires up to those Steering Wheel Control wires you should be all set. You will then need to go into the head unit and do the training procedure I do around 6:53. I don't think it matters which wire you hook up to which as long as they are both hooked up, since the training procedure should take care of that.
Just made an upgrade to mine, using a Sony stereo. Pulled the aux out of the dash to use for my usb/carplay. Where did you find a replacement plate for yours? I need a dual usb
I have a problem with my A/C, it’s cold on hybrid mode, and the heater turns on alone as soon as the engine starts. And gets cold again when hybrid mode is on. The computer panel is working perfectly, (I tested it myself in other Prius C). Any suggestions? I notice a blue clip attach to the actuator, should I wait for my A/c. To gets cold and disconnect this? If that so, how May I disconnect this? I can’t pull it out. Thanks in advance for any suggestion.
My 6 pin connector from the car that went into the back of the OEM radio(I believe is for back speakers) only has one wire coming into it from the car.
You can go into the settings of the head unit and reconfigure them. You basically have to train the head unit on what the different signals from the steering wheel mean since they're not standard.
@@RKAdventures45 Thanks- I installed everything, I had one question did you have to split the Car Steering wheel wire and solder that to the header from the UNit for the steering wheel controls?

Where did you put your aftermarket mic? I put mine where the push to start button would have been and it sounds terrible.

Samantha Ulloa Yep, they are all a standard size so you shouldn’t have any issues.
R&K Adventures awesome thank you.

The one that I used ended up coming in the package with the head unit.
can u pls share the wire digram so its more easy to joint everything ?
I'm sorry but I don't have a wiring diagram for the radio, I just pieced the information together myself from various forums.

Do you have rear speakers? This was done with a Prius C1 without the back speaker option.
@@robertclark9633 didn’t realize I had a c1 so that’s why there’s no rear speaker wires
When you installed this did you have any problems using the call / Hang up buttons on the steering wheel?

Where is the 12v battery wire?.....not the ignition wire
Does Auto A/C work?
Yep everything is still functional. A/C isn't linked to the stereo system in this car at all, they're completely separate.
Can Apple CarPlay be installed in 2012 prius c ?
This head unit does both CarPlay and android auto, yes.
Which wire is the streering wheel control from car??

@@RKAdventures45 did you connect them both to the one wire on the head unit? Or did pink or blue go to ground?
@@RKAdventures45 for instance my head unit I purchased only has 1 wire input for steering wheel switch
@@adrianthrockmorton7557 Do you have the model number of the head unit that you purchased?
Color to be specific?
There should be a yellow wire that goes to 12v.
