I appreciate you bringing up the Allosaurus’s stupidly aggressive nature. Things were walking personality disorders with the bodies of Olympic athletes.
Yes I love that!
I often see people say this but I don't know where this comes from. We don't have anything saying they were more or less aggressive than modern animals other than things like Jurassic Park and Hollywood stuff.
@extraordinarytv5451 the amount of injuries both to them and to other animals from their formation suggests that they are highly aggressive (or maybe highly aggressive during a season that makes prey less abundant)
@@extraordinarytv5451most of the "evidence" for allosaurus's aggressive nature points towards a tendency to scavenge when the dry season came along. Allosaurus fossilized so often because it had dominance over carrion when things got tough and would wander into mudpits to eat dead and dying animals stuck in the mud, which allows incredibly preserved specimens and theropods tended to suffer serious injuries over their lives. It's more fun for people to assume that they would attack anything on sight but their behavior is pretty general for a theropod, and they would eat whatever died during the dry season

I love how this is literally the life of Big Al LMAO
Almost Big Al died as a mature adolescent. He(possibly she) never got a chance to mate dying at just age 17.
I thought so too but al got beaten up by his mate and never got to pass on his genes. Goated documentary though. I do like the al story retelling in this video though.
No it's not..... the Allosaur Mom took care of him when he was little
@thatanswergirl-lucy8033 thank you for actually remembering it properly.
I love Big Al! I remember rewatching Walking With Dinosaurs over and over again as a kid!

In case anyone doesn’t know, the end bit isn’t a joke. It’s true. That’s how “Big Al” the allosaurus on display is thought to have died. 😂 8:59

To be honest, I completely forgot about that theory lol

The Morrison Formation was basically the God Of War of environments during the Mesozoic Era.
i can bet that hell creek and kem kem wasn't for beginers too
@ I would say it’s like difficulty in Kirby games. It’s a bit easier as you’re in the smaller/middle ranks, but when you get to the big leagues, that’s when it becomes hell on Earth for your physical and mental health.
Hell Creek’s name was in point. It had a 3 horned death rhino lizard with a shield for a neck, a big ass sauropod, homicidal fighter jets snatching younglings, beasts 3 times the size of elephants, and oh yeah, the heaviest land carnivore to ever live that could explode none with a single bite and outcompeted every other major theropod for almost every niche it could reasonably occupy.
Kem Kem were the ultimate boss level tho... Morrison was cool tho, but nothing comes close to Kem Kem in the history of life on earth.

As soon as you mentioned the 'stub your toe and get an infection part' i leapt toward my screen "I KNEW IT, IT'S BIG AL!"

I lost it at the A Team van. As an 80s kid, I salute you!😂😂😂
James Toland started an entire genre of UA-cam animation
Was about to say. There are so many copycats now.
Actually, that guy staryed it, james toland just started animating those videos, he did the same thing without animating so theyre both original in a way
@@Briggie Tbh I wouldn't this channels is a copycat, at least not from what I've seen so far, it uses James Toland style but adapts in a new and interesting way by looking at prehistoric creatures.

loving the format
Its a complete rip off btw
I genuinely hope this gets 1 million+ views ,
🙏
Dude I wasn't expecting you to debunk hatchet theory.😂
Lmaooo
what is that
Basically, because Allosaurus probably had a weak bite force but a long neck and could open its jaw cartoonishly wide (like 80 degrees iirc), there's a theory that it might've killed it's prey by opening its mouth and swinging its head downwards like a hatchet, but this theory is unpopular because it would probably break all the animal's teeth, and give him a concussion every time it bit something
@@garretthenry1649 thanks thats interesting
I like that the fact the stegausorus is the first Dino the baby allosaurus met, because scientist found a super good preserved fossil of Allosaurus with a hole the size of a stegausorus spike on the femur bone.
Big Al at the end is amazing; when I was younger i was in love with a documentary about him

Thank you for letting everyone know about the tough lives we Dinos have,
it’s so hard to be a Velociraptor because when i’m trying to eat,
Rexy will come up and take the Diabloceratops away from me!

Also i have to clip my big toenail sometimes because it’ll get so long it starts to curl and will cut my toe!
Please,
it’s Dino awareness week,

Best UA-cam rec ever 🫶
Bro randomly decided he wants to know everything about how dinosaurs lived lmao, but very glad you did cause this is super interesting, now I wanna see one sooo bad, some enormous one
Good stuff, keep it up! 🥴🥴
Isn't it actually likely that theropods would care for their young for a while? Most archosaurs today do (both crocodilians and birds, which split long before allosaurus existed)
Certainly possible but we just don’t know. The only problem is it’d take months for the eggs to hatch and these big theropods couldn’t sit by the nest all the time. Many theories but they’re all fun right!
@@GrizzalsliceI think we do have evidence of dilopho and one other taking care of its young
@@User_1-r6tevery animal is different. It’s certainly more likely they didn’t raise their young as producing many eggs was more than sufficient for reproduction
@@whatIFeverything1 But they didnt lay that much eggs, 10-20 eggs for animals that grow 15 years to become adult without any caring? it just doesnt make sense for me, always some eggs wouldnt hatch, hatchling were also so small that nearly everything could eat them, crocs lays like 30-70 eggs and still taking care about their hatchlings at least for the first few weeks or even months and we have many evidences of dinosaurs taking care of their youngs as well
@@Grizzalslicewe actually have quite a bit of evidence of dinosaur parental care. It seems to be especially common amongst theropods in fact!
The Allosaurus reminds me of this video of the stranded Giant Al with the foot infection, only this one did have a partner, not like the other one, haha, good video 😊
There is evidence that Allosaurus may have cared for its young rather than abandoning them. At Como Bluff, Wyoming, evidence suggests juveniles ate alongside adults, but it's also likely there was a high degree of cannibalism. Furthermore, parental care evolved early on in dinosaurs, as early jurassic nest sites belonging to early sauropods are known from Africa, with hatchlings unable to care for themselves. Also, it is now believed that Big Al may have been female, courtesy of the presence of medullary bone tissue in the specimen, which birds and theropod dinosaurs develop while pregnant and laying eggs. This also might explain why Big Al died; it was pregnant and/or perhaps incubating eggs. Additionally, Allosaurus ranged all the way from North America into Portugal, which was a giant island at the time.
this dude is so underrated
I very much enjoyed this
You deserve way more subscribers man. God bless you man I love your stuff

Amazing work!
We don't know much about early life of Allosaurus
Yeah much would be speculation just like how it was done in Walking with Dinosaurs and Al
We have lots of bones of baby allosaurus… are you crazy!?!
@@whatIFeverything1we don’t know what they would have eaten their niche when young and if they sticked by their parents.
Definitely not, but we do know an allosauroid (which may or may not be _Allosaurus_ itself) appear to have nested communally.

It’s a fun video dude
Amazing video
3:50 this aged well
It's been changed to Allosaurus anax, which is still smaller than Torvosaurus (the actual king of Jurassic)
We don't actually know if the parent Allosaurus would have abandoned the nest so quickly. It may have stayed close by to guard against other predators.
This video seems very inspired
