This is crazy 😂 Thanks for sharing. Does your M1 has 16GB Ram or just 8GB Ram? Mine only has 8GB Ram and i ran into some performance issues based on Ram
@@TheEditPlace Yeah, on the 8GB playback stutters and crashes quite a bit. I'm editing 4K video. It's super annoying and I might just give up and switch back to Lumafusion on my M2 iPad Pro and use Davinci on my MacBook Pro. It's super frustrating. If you guys have any tips on how to get through an edit without it crashing like 20 times let me know thanks.
@@MariusMocan-mn4do How has your experience been over the last month? I'm looking at getting an M1 iPad Pro and use DR and I want to hear the experiences of real-life users.
I'm shooting with a canon R5C and am about maxed out my 7 year old PC and am STRONGLY considering an M2 iPad pro. I mainly shoot 4k XFAVC and my computer handles that well but I want to dabble in S35 6k Raw and FF 8k Raw LT just for fun and looking at this I would have to assume that since the M1 has no issue with 12k Raw than the M2 would be super smooth.
@@FrankNanaBoakye yup got the M4 IPad Pro 13” with 1TB storage. With davinci resolve free version I can import 8k canon Raw LT 24fps. And it plays back flawlessly. Even after a simple color grade it plays perfectly. I save the files to my iPad files stored locally. Even importing them with a thunderbolt 4 cable is blazing fast almost instant. I’m gonna try to max it out with 8k raw ST 60p but I doubt it has an issue. Not this I’m sure the longer the video more transitions and heavier grade it will stress the system but with a 2 minute video some colors and simple transitions it exposed in about 1 min 30 seconds. Keep in mind the free davinci can only export at a 1080 or a 4k timeline. I’m gonna drop the $$ on the Studio DR so I can have more features than the free version currently allows and migrate from using FCP. My PC would explode if I tried to edit this LT footage.
@@jdpst20thank you for replying, appreciate it. When you try the 8k60fps RAW LT too. Please let me know. I plan on buying the m4 2tb storage. And I haven’t found any info online about this concerning the r5c . Appreciate it and kindly keep me posted thank you
@@FrankNanaBoakye OK so I took some test footage in 8k Raw LT 24fps and 60fps as well as 8k Raw ST 24fps. I loaded about 6 clips into the timeline and adjusted the timeline to 8K. Playback was just a slight bit choppy but nothing extreme. I changed the RAW clip settings from black magic to canon Raw. Changed the color gamma and space to CLOG 2 and canon color. And made sure my settings on the project were correct. The playback was fine after that. “ I’m still super new to DR” though so I don’t quite have a solid reliable workflow that I can get into the grove yet. Any feedback is welcomed. I did a basic buttery LUT to REC 709 and adjusted a bit of contrast and saturation and was done. As far as RAW settings goes I change in RAW tab to “clip” and was able to change white balance however ISO was greyed out and not selectable. Not sure why. I really need to do some learning on DR. Anyways adjusted clips and exported. On H264 Master AND UA-cam 8k I got a failure to export. Not sure why. I was able to export in ProRes 422HQ which took about a minute but that file was 19 gigs!! I did H265 Master and it ended up under a gig. I also noticed that after exporting and playing back if I double tap to zoom in a bit the quality is really not that great. It looks good on the screen but zoomed in a playing an 8k video on this display I would hope for better quality. I have to be doing something wrong in the settings. I’m not sure.
@@jdpst20hi it seems my reply didn’t get through. Yeah I’m also all new to Davinci Resolve. So it’s a steep learning curve for me . Sorry about the export problems. Please keep me posted when you find a solution. Also please which cf express type B card are you using to film the 8k60fps Cinema RAW LT
Can't believe yo can edit 12K RAW from external storage on an iPad. Seems like yesterday that we were surprised the iPad could do 3 streams of 4K in iMovie.
Does node level caching work? I tend to prefer pre caching noise reduction on the node level in Resolve so I can keep editing without having to always recache.
About as you’d expect while doing intense video editing. Doesn’t kill it in 30min to an hour but definitely isn’t lasting 5 hours hardcore editing haha
first of all yes, I did use resolve obviouslly. a color grading tool doesnt spit out one type of style 😂 if you dont like it, make your videos look the way you like. Resolve has better color tools than any other software and thats not a debate. almost every single hollywood movie is graded in resolve. the looks you can create are endless.

Yup! this is the 2TB M1 so it has the 16GB RAM!

Hi did you buy it ? Are you able to edit the 8k raw LT on your iPad?

How u have 3 tabs at bottom, my iPad Version only have 2 Tabs?
Can't believe yo can edit 12K RAW from external storage on an iPad. Seems like yesterday that we were surprised the iPad could do 3 streams of 4K in iMovie.
right?!

YUP! long press on the node or right click and you'll see node cache option.
great video! How’s your battery life when editing?

I leave mine plugged in when editing
I'm thinking about buying a used M1 IPad (at least 1TB) just for Davinci Resolve and Photoshop lmao.
What spec is your m1 iPad pro ? I wonder if the 8gb ram version plays back less smoothly than the 16gb ram version
Is there a proxy option on the Ipad version of Resolve? I can't seem to find it.
hi, can the new ipad air M2 edit 6k braw full frame?
Does it export 4K? i've seen on one videos that ipad apps cant export 4k, if its true i had to go for the mac.
Not sure why you haven’t used chapter markers as you used Resolve to create this UA-cam video.
Sorry, ill add some markers. I never upload from resolve directly so I do markers manually on my videos.
do you know if da vinici iPad version can read .R3d, Red Raw?
It doesn’t seem like it. I only see braw and canon raw. So stupid.
wooowww crazyyyyy thxxxx
I’m curious. Did you use DaVinci Resolve to color grade this washed-out looking video? If so, I don’t think I’ll bother learning to use it.

Opera Brotha Any video editing app will let you grade your footage as you wish. There is no ‘’right or wrong’’ grade.
