I remember this race clearly.... I was 8 years old... I saw his name 'Pocket Power' in the newspaper...i liked his name so I told dad to bet on him.... My dad said he was betting on dancer's daughter...I cried I said please bet for me... So he just put R100 on PP to make me happy.... Race time I saw PP in at the back line... I started crying again... Then he started gaining places... I cried harder but this time tears of joy... Wen he won... I just couldn't handle it... Jumping with joy with the I TOLD YOU SO FACE.... From that day I fell in love with Pocket Power....he gave me a day worth remembering... I salute him
As of 2023, TEAL is the last home province bred winner of this race. A very well bred daughter by FOVEROS out of NORTHERN BANNER (Northern Dancer) bred at the Sutherland's SOMERSET STUD in the KZN Midlands.

My uncle had a bet on PP. I was 16 years then, watching in a club in JHB. It was mu first race to watch
