Does it bother anyone else that the priest Ahimelech broke Lev 24:9 when he gave the holy bread to David (who wasn't a priest)? Or that David even had the nerve to ask for it? If it does, then it might surprise you, as it also did me, to recall that Jesus condoned this in Mark 2:25-26. I hope Stephen discusses this more fully in Mark. Also, in the same Mark passage Jesus said that David "gave it [the bread] to those who were with him". But a careful reading of I Sam 21:1 shows David is clearly alone. Not to mention that Abiathar was NOT the high priest (yet) as stated in the same Mark passage. Ahimelech was. Any comments?
