The Chaos Emeralds, Knuckles finds, in the chest are the ones you still need to collect. Therefore, you still need to collect the Chaos Emeralds. If you collect all of the Chaos Emeralds in the game, playing Act Knuckles and clearing it will have Knuckles open the chest and ZERO Chaos Emeralds will appear.
I just realized, what was the point of the special stages if we automatically can get them all after clearing this one act as knuckles?
