The first WDSF New Sports Series event took place in Singapore on August 24th 2019. Some of the top European couples were invited to test the competition format together with the best couples of the Asian continent. This video is a resume of the final battles of the Latin competition.

O-M-G, Krystina and Marius should have won first place! They are far superior than A&S in terms of style, choreography, talent, charm, appeal, technique .... They are so much more musical and artistic than A&S.
🤦🏽♀️ These judges OMG...To me Marius and Khrystyna always deserve 1st. place; Because they just don’t dance they also entertain you into their rhythm and fun...Andrey and Vera deserved 2nd. place because of their body technique...Armen and Svetlana deserved 3rd. because she’s ALWAYS stiff in her movements and Armen makes her look good because his moves are fast and on beat and she struggles with the paste...The judging to me is never a fair shake💯

Dmitry Sazonov lmao riiiiight. Give me a break! They aren’t doing anything more than the other TOP 11 couples they compete against. Svetlana is too STIFF imo and lacks Latin musicality meanwhile Armen overcompensates by being overly energetic. I find their choreography to be bland and boring in almost every dance.

I love Khrystinas Dress so much😍
Marius & Khrystyna should have won. They have both upper and lower body action in all the dances. The 'Samba' especially, requires hip rotation with the bounce action - Khystyna definitely has that over Svetlana. I am from neither of their countries, just saying for what I see as a Latin dancer myself.
didn't armen and Svetlana start out of phrase/timing during the samba?
RyoumiRabbit Are u a Judge? I know marius and khrystyna have more power and cool dance but their performance is too rush, armen and svetlana has the quickness and their performance was clean as long as the partnering.
In every competion Armen and svetlana always 1st place and marius and khrystyna always 2nd place!

They are all amazing couples. Great dancers and talented. But in my opinion khrystyna and marius should have won. They are the best among the best. I'm a fan of M&K from 🇵🇭 Philippines.

My opinion, like everyones is that M&K should have won, yes... Svetlana has a great point, but Khristina has also a great point and she is really fast and she entertains the crowd, for Marius he is much better than Armen

Koncept is ok, but the same judging according to the names and pervious results is not fair. If they would judge what they see on the floor right now right here the results will be different. Marius and Krystyna deserve 1st place, no doubt about that.
...and the dress of Alina is agly, very agly, she shoud keep a level what she had in a final of European Championships 2019.

Babbycatt. I liked this concept when I first saw it, but after hearing other views and especially yours here, I have to agree totally with your sentiments. You couldn't be more correct. I swear most times you are more expert that the experts. By the way, I so apologise to you for unintentionally inviting you know who onto one of your comments on R&Y retirement videos. I feel dreadful. I didn't for a moment want to expose you to that kind of embittered, slanderous vitriol. Have no fear he'll dig his own hole, I'm just giving him a helping hand. I'm saying this here because this isn't the kind of vid he generally looks at. Don't be too miffed though. As I see it, this dancesport simply trying to find a judging system acceptable to the IOC. I don't think this exact format will work. Besides Its interesting no matter what the judging system is, the results remain exactly the same. That what I get pissed off about. Well done again here girl.
Babbycatt. Thank you for understanding. Yes this format I feel doesn't do the loosing couples confidence in neither their dancing or themselves one bit of good at all. infact, if the same result happens often enough and its likely it will, then they will probably just quit the sport. (NOT GOOD) You can get away with this in tennis and as a tennis follower you will understand this. If the lower ranked player looses he/she can put it down to the opponents superior skills or their own poor performance. Quite often the underdog actually wins. YEAH! That true sport. If that happens in dancesport often the dances can say why don't the judges like my dancing, what am I doing wrong, especially when its very close and that's really deflating and a real job for a coach and close supporters to help you through. This format I don't think will help any of that so good try but perhaps just a fizzer. Honestly I am ------- if I know why dancesport thinks that Latin American dancing now needs to be uber cool, like breaking or hip hop and styles like that and dragging down a classy sophisticated dance style to that level of sloppiness. (DRESS SENSE ONLY PEOPLE NOTTHE MOVEMENTS) please put away the guns. If it were up to me I would just ease up on the over exaggerated hip actions of the guys because many look to effeminate, get rid of the over deigned and decorated dresses on the ladies, they too often look like badly, overdecorated Christmas trees or like bad chicken impersonations. get great music to dance to and there's tons out there. Latin dance is cool, really cool. Its dancesport and their over the top fuzzy wuzzy ways that's made it uncool. Its easy to fix the problem just make it real and cut out the bullshit. Oops done it again, this was only supposed to be 3 or 4 lines. Cheers.

Why were all the Asian couples made to dance against the European couples? A little to much of a set up to ensure the predictable placements wouldn’t be messed with. 🙄
UniquelyMade. A very good and observant point. Appears rather too coincidental and It does raise an ire of suspicion doesn't it. But hey dancesport isn't well known for doing things like now that is it. lol.
In other sports its also like this. The higher seeded competitors compete against the lower ranked ones first.
LeRum it should be random draws, otherwise don’t even have the Asian couples compete if the placements are that predictable
Le Rum. You are correct. Tennis is a prime example. The only difference is, if the higher seeded player in tennis has a below par game he will often get beaten by the underdog. It happens every tournament. That is rarely if ever the case in dancesport, because the winner in dancesport doesn't choose him/herself as in other sports, but is chosen subjectively by someone else. This is the point uniquely made is alluding to I think and he/she is right. There is more chance of flying to the moon on a kite than these lower ranked guys have of beating the more fancied opponents. That's why is an unfair contes,t because of the politics of judging. You see?

I disagree with some of the people picking Marius and Krystyna to win first place.. Look at other competitions where they all competed together. Not just here in singapore. Armen and Svetlana won most of the first place and the second was always Marius and Krystyna. The judges were right and fair. If Armen and Svetlana are not joining for sure Marius and Krystyna will win that, No doubt about it.
Krystyna and Marius 'are' far better; more original and more talented and more stylish than Svetlana and Armen, and so K & M should have won in my opinion. I would be curious to know what the judges find that is better in S and A. I don't see it. In second place, as mentioned, I would have put Vera and Andrey.
Moonrise 361. I'm not a big fan of A&S as most are well aware. They for me have their weaknesses, but so too do the others. None of these 3 top couple have what I consider the perfect complete dance package. as partnerships and they all have ares of weakness, which makes them all very vulnerable to emerging opposition I think. If I had to make a bet, I would say its a possible reason that judges choose A&S over M&K the answer is Marius. I agree with you, I prefer M&K, but only because Kristina is the most technically sound, charismatic, complete and mature dancer out there by some distance, Andrey over dances in the rhythm dances especially I feel, but as a partnership the most balanced. Just my personal take on it. It must be something the judges aren't preferring about M&K and for me that's a real possibility of what it might be. Anyone with a better theory out there I'm happy to hear it.
So because Armen and a Svetlana won every other competition they should win this too automatically? What’s the point of a competition then if it’s that predictable? They are a favored couple by the judges but by no means are they the best. Technically ALL the couples at this level are high skill and at the SAME level, it comes down to STYLE. I prefer Krystyna and Marius style over Svetlana and Armen. I feel the results for each competition should be more unpredictable because as i stated the couples technically are on the same level playing field. You can’t tell me A&S are perfect every competition. I think the sport would be way more exciting if the results weren’t so boring and predictable by stale judging every damn competition. I shouldn’t be able to predict 1-12 placements every grand slam, Euro and worlds but i do and am right every time because it’s the same results, judges already know who they will score what before music starts
@@chuckie102883 So in that case, The same idea that i will apply for Riccardo and Yulia. They won most of the competition that they're competing. The Judges i suppose will disregard their talent, skills, technique and musicality interpretation once they're dancing already and let others win eventhough they're not at the same level. YOU have to understand that there are several judges judging them... let says there are 10 judges that will judge them...6 of them favours Armen and 4 favours Marius, who do you think is going to win? We have our own choices. And most judges came from different countries. They have their own choices to pick too. Simple as that.
Wizpitz. What you say is true, but did you know that there are adjudicators meetings held before competitions too. I've been in this sport for too many years and you would be surprised what goes on behind closed doors. Uniquely made is absolutely right, all these guys are worthy champions technically and the sport chooses a style of dance that it feels it want to champion and that's what is happening with these two couples I suspect. Few would be too put out if the placings were reversed but A&S offer a style that dancesport prefers a little more. Interestingly all the recent champions that I can think of pro and amateur all dance a very athletic dynamic attacking style. Why is that? Coincidence? I suspect not.

Some of the songs weren’t that great but the costumes were fab!
All fantastic except the Music. The jives played have no jive character in its melody or authenticity therefore Musicality, artistry and presentation suffers with a true artist-dancer. For mechanical robot dancers it’s ok.

великолепно! но 2 маленьких замечания: что за плебейская манера у некоторых партнёров танцевать с разинутым ртом? это же классика, а не латина; и костюм "кота матроскина" на классику тоже не подходит, ИМХО.

I like this challenge concept. With only 2 couples on the floor it allows everyone to make a better assessment I think. Down side? Don't stuff up because there's nowhere to hide and the judges will remember. For all the elaborate detail of Krystina's dress here, which I think is too much, I much prefer Alina's fresh, simple Latin style. I find Marius and Krystina too much into the glitz and glamour at the moment and too much in my face. Sorry I just call it as I see it.
Alina’s pokedot dress? 😳. I couldn’t disagree more, i find that dress to look so ugly, i never really like her style choices though, irony is you say you like simple style dresses but majority of her dresses have like a million feathers and jewels lol.
JoeT- Well, with all due respect, I disagree on all you said about the dancers. Krystina's dress is much more attractive than Alina's. - And Krystyna and Marius to me were first place by far (much better than Svetlana and Armen). Then, 2nd place, Vera and Andrey.
Uniquely made I respect you opinion. I don't know this couple well because they've never grabbed my attention, so I have no pre conceived prejudices one way or another. I'm only commenting on this one dress only not her wardrobe history. But do read exactly what I said. I didn't say I liked it or in love with it, but of the two that were out there that was my preference because of its simplicity in design and style. I felt Krystina's dress was glamorous, but looked weighty with all the embellishments and especially with the feathery things. All too much and unnecessary for me. Perhaps that's something the judges didn't like too. Who knows. Also why do people make statements, like its ugly but offer no reason why? That is unconstructive criticism. Every comment I made has a reason behind it at least. Personally I don't care a great deal for any of the top 3 couples, nor wdsf style and direction. I think the top 6 positions are very vulnerable.
Moonrise 361 Hello. I'm not one bit surprised. We've had this merry dance together before. (Pun intended). As for the placings that's not surprising either as I know where your favouritism lie. Its natural. Its a subjective sport after all, so its all good. I'm not overly enamoured with any of the top 3 myself Krystina excluded. She's special and makes that partnership what it is. I thought Krystina's dress was very glamourous, but overdone and looks weighty under all the abundant decoration and feathers. Just my tastes and opinion. I don't like over cooked anything. Especially meat. The most important thing about this video the challenge concept I thought and commented on that, but everyone it seems wants to talk about the dresses and unfavourable results. Go figure. Cheers.
