Out of curiosity, did you look at this, StellaLyra 8" f/4 M-LRN Newtonian Reflector with 2" Dual-Speed Focuser, if so why did you pick the scope you did?
Do you know when these are taken? I have a faint memory hearing skywatcher talking about an old prototype looking like this mount. If thats the case then it might not be something thats comming :/
This is interesting because I was just talking to Kevin (who does the whatsup webcasts) at a star party here in AZ, and he said they will be releasing a few new products soon sometime next year, but didn't give us any more detail than that. I'm sure this is one of the things he was talking about though. That mount is definitely strange looking.
I have seen such mount. It is with wedge and produced by PlaneWave. Skywatcher should allow option to get proper focuser such as Moonlite or Feathertouch with their scopes. Takahashi focuser is not good. I replaced it with Moonlite focuser with motor. It was installed professionally by Takahashi USA.
Not only Newtonians, but SW has been lacking to show any new mounts or just anything at all. We got Askar, Sharpstar, William Optics even ZWO putting out scopes now (rebranded Sharpstar), let's not mention the strain wave mounts from different brands. Skywatcher : only crickets in the distance. I'm a big Newtonian fan, I have 3 of them, but the reason I got 3 because 1 was already with a defect, except I didn't notice. I'd love to see new Newts, the ones on the market are just not only old, but also has serious limitations due to poor standards how they are put together.
Yes there is real scope (forgive the pun) for some product development and the market has been crying out for some good mounts and scopes. Hopefully this is the beginning of some new products to the market.
If they didn’t put a rack and pinion focuser on it, it’s a pass for me. I have fought that damn Crayford on my Quattro far too much to buy into that again.
Reminds me of PlaneWave's direct drive mounts (like the L-500) with a built-in wedge. Not sure if they have the scope intentionally point in the wrong direction though. :)
Its a Crawford. If t was rack and pinion you would see a notch in the housing of the focuser for the rack to slide in and out of. There going to advertise this as an astrophotography ready telescope and slap a cheap focuser on it that will not support a full imaging train. Just like the Quattro 150. Stay away from this! I laterally put my 150P in the garbage because the secondary mirror cell broke free from the bolt holding it to the spider vain while collimating. Skywatcher refused to warranty it because get this.... I put a feather touch focuser on it and they said I voided the warranty. So in return I purchased the Sharpstar 15028NHT and the quality was infinitely superior.
I really don't like Crawford focusers. Surely they are great for visual, but after 3 years and 5 scopes, I noticed the trend that the Newtonian scopes branded as "astrograph" are really just cheap Newts thrown together from spare parts left over from even cheaper telescopes. I also don't like those finder scopes they all come with, there is no purpose for them doing astrophotography. I go even farther and say that people who do visual, they get a much better finder scope, probably the first thing they get rid of. Unnecessary and pointless, don't need to sell it with those, give us a discount by selling them without those silly things.
Thanks for sharing Andy.
Thanks for watching!
Looks like an equatorial wedge with a one-arm fork mount
Wow very cool,. wonder if this is coming out. This looks interesting too Sharpstar 130mm f/2.8 HNT Hyperbolic Newtonian Astrograph
Interesting looking.
Nice find Andy Where did you find these photos?
Skywatcher FB group.
Thanks Andy I'll have a look.@@AndyofAstro
That new Newt must be significantly better than the other Newt's they sell. I ended up selling my Quattro 200P because of significant problems.
. . . . . And what makes you think it's going to be any better???

kevin is under nda so you wont get much from him before its public
Backyard amateur astrophotography guy here. I've been interested in star parties/ dark sky sites here in AZ. Any advice on where to start?
@@BPPDan a good idea will be to contact you local astro club and talk with them. They very often massive experience and good advise
@@grandmasteryoda9893 would I just google "AZ astro club" to find them? Or is there a better way like a fourm somewhere?
nice that mount looks like Edmund Scientific fork mount

Reminds me of the Sharpstar newts, be interesting to see how much it costs
Yes I am really keen to find out the price.
If price less than 3K for 200 version, then it is not worth to get.

Spiders on Newtonians have always been the weak spot, what would it cost to build one first class…10% more?
the mount reminds me of the Avalon M-Zero

given focuser dont conect to spider, i think thats flat earth level of stupid.

I’m selling my 6 month old 8” Orion because I’m completely incapable of collimating it. I’ve tried everything, I give up, lol
Get a lazer. It is very easy with lazer and to be honest with you it is as good as other ways.
