Salvadoran empanadas are very different to the Argentinian or Mexican concept of it. There are two kinds, "empanada de leche" y "empanada de frijol". Also, you could ask for "tamales de gallina", "tamales de azúcar" or "tamales de chipilin con queso". We like our soups too, besides "sopa de pata", you can also have "sopa de frijoles" and "sopa de gallina".

Next time you have a green mango, ask the vendor if he or she has "algüashte" (pronounced all-wash-the). Its a season made from pulverized pumpkin seed. Also, ask for "salsa negrito". Great video, keep it up!

Plantain Empanafas are exclusively from Ecuador, they are the first one's to make them, in fact no one else ever made them! They wouldn't say Papusas was theirs.

For your next visit I recommend you to try the "Pupusas with cheese and Loroco" 🤤 , "Bean Empanada" 🤤, "Mango with alguashte (pumpkin seed powder), lemon and salt" 🤤 and "Horchata de morro" (it has a nutty flavor 🤤) Our salvadoran Horchata is different that the Mexican one... The Mexican one, it's made with rice... The salvadoran one, it's made with a mix of a lot of things, like: Morro seed powder, peanuts, pumpkin seed, cocoa, cinnamon and nutmeg. It's delicious!! 🤤🤤🤤
It's very nice of you to keep trying traditional food from El Salvador and I am so glad that you enjoy it. I'm just want to tell you that the word for the side for the pupusas is not called "cordito", but "curtido" (koor-tee-doh). Also, El Salvador is a corn culture, as all Mesoamerican countries, so there are so many dishes made with corn that you haven't tried yet. I don't know if in that market you'd find all of them, but I've seen riguas and tamales in your videos, and I think you should try them some time. And yes, we put lime to almost everthing we eat, including some fruits as you have realized; next time you should try "semillas de paterna" (the fruit "paterna" I think is called ice cream-bean in English) because I saw them in this video. The expensive fish you have noticed is the main ingredient for a dish cooked usually for the Holy Week (as in catholic tradition eating meat is forbidden, fish is the best substitute for animal protein). Normally, the fish is mackerel, sea bass, pargo or catfish dried with salt at sunlight, and the dish is called "pescado envuelto" (a raw translation could be "wrapped fish") because is wrapped with beaten egg, fried and served in a very light tomato sauce with potatoes and chickpeas. In some areas, people add some corn dough to the wrap, but the most traditional for the country is the first way. Keep the nice work and enjoying food!!

Pupusas places:(just some examples) San Salvador: Purrushka(old local restaurant makes hundreds a day has no delivery only dine in and take out. elderly group of friends that have continued a business for a long time, i would go and eat there almost 2 or 3 times a week, everytime they would restock, i would see them do the whole process all natural. from drying the cacao seed for the hot chocolate, or taking the beans out of the podbeans(the children help its a house that they made a restaurant) so its kinda cozy, not fancy but awesome taste Olocuilta: Very well know because of the pupusas, some pupuserias even put that as their business name since it makes ppl think automatically about some good pupusas and thick sauce and pretty much depends on your taste, what you feel adventurous or what you would like to try, like if you were to stay 2 or 3 days, make a sweet day(treats and traditional food) , a salty day, which is strong dishes at local places like for lunch and similar, and a traditional day in which you already take part of so just grab a bit of everything. Great seeing you that day! One fruit I discovered is a small fruit called mamón or mamoncillo. Some places it is known as the Spanish Lime. Tastes like lychee crossed with lime and there’s not much fruit in it amid the huge seed but it’s totally worth it to enjoy nibbling when you’re walking around or driving. Great video my friend! Glad to see you enjoying our many foods from El Salvador. if you ever decide to go back I recommend trying "Elotes locos" it's corn one of our traditional dishes and to drink try "Atol de elote" it's a corn drink. Never knew about El Salvador Corridor I'll definitely will go after seeing this video.

Rockstar you should go to El Salvador, my lovely country. You need to go to taste the really flavors of wonderful food and enjoy the many tourist places we have; such as rivers, volcanos, lakes, colorful villages with lots of culture, tropical forest and amazing beaches with warm water all year round. Even under the rain I like to go and jump into the water to let the waves crash on me. Is a wonderful experience you will never forget.

I would recommend yuca frita (yuca is a root served half boiled and half fried along with berro (watercress), tomatoes, cucumber, curtido (similar to or comparable to Sauerkraut), salsa, fritada or chicharones (both are pig products), or pescaditas (small fried fish). Sometimes it's spicy but I don't think most salvadorians like spicy cuz I remember when I was a kid they always asked if we wanted spicy or not

Great seeing you that day! One fruit I discovered is a small fruit called mamón or mamoncillo. Some places it is known as the Spanish Lime. Tastes like lychee crossed with lime and there’s not much fruit in it amid the huge seed but it’s totally worth it to enjoy nibbling when you’re walking around or driving. Great video my friend! That was an awesome day!

@@RockstarEater the green mango is the best , in El Salvador they make it into thin strips with an apple peeler then put it in a bag with all those ingredients, I think I’ll hit that spot soon thanks for the video.
I recomend the Papas Fritas a lot, also the Tostadas de Plátano and if you want, the Elote Loco. You can find them in the same place I think

Great video! Glad to see you enjoying our many foods from El Salvador. if you ever decide to go back I recommend trying "Elotes locos" it's corn one of our traditional dishes and to drink try "Atol de elote" it's a corn drink.

Rockstar you should go to El Salvador, my lovely country. You need to go to taste the really flavors of wonderful food and enjoy the many tourist places we have; such as rivers, volcanos, lakes, colorful villages with lots of culture, tropical forest and amazing beaches with warm water all year round. Even under the rain I like to go and jump into the water to let the waves crash on me. Is a wonderful experience you will never forget.

Thank you for promoting Salvadorean gastronomy. I would recommend yuca frita (yuca is a root served half boiled and half fried along with berro (watercress), tomatoes, cucumber, curtido (similar to or comparable to Sauerkraut), salsa, fritada or chicharones (both are pig products), or pescaditas (small fried fish). Enjoy. Thank you. A good cup of coffee is needed to go along with the semita.
