I feel like DJ would be appreciated more by UFC fans in the current era. Look at how popular 135 is now with casuals. As people learn more about the details of MMA, they let go of this "bigger weight classes are better" idea.
It's not that popular, compared to the bigger weights it's not even close, i'm not saying they're not good fighters. But before you resort to "CASUAL!" without hearing, maybe realise i'm not attacking just suggesting? 135 for men is stupidly small, as a result there are many men in the western world much bigger, so numbers as example let's say we have 100 men who are 135 they are all life long fighters, you have 1200 men who are 185 life long fighters, each one has "the best fighter" who has it harder? You're not stupid, it's the guys who have more quality fighters aka the bigger pool. DJ is incredible sure in ONE weight he REFUSED to move from, while every other best fighter wants to take the risk and prove themselves, DJ wouldn't DARE go up to fight, so when TJ decided to go down, DJ ran, he made the most pathetic excuse to avoid someone "Urgh I don't THINK he can make weight" so ran. He ignored fans, he ignored his chance to prove himself, and instead was swapped won some, then knocked the fuck out, granted he got it back but in a fight he was losing until then.

I watched his whole career in the ufc and I’m well aware of everything in the UFC. My point is DJ deserves all the eyes on him. When fighters leave they go to obscurity. Look at the fighters who left Gegard mousasi DJ Rory McDonald. Look at the eyes on chandler now. I’m just saying DJ should be on ESPN and getting all the prime time love he deserves.
What about a maybe?
His submission over Borg is one of the best and coolest finishes I've ever seen. His also a humble and chill guy. True legend.
The unsung GOAT. Give this man his just glory.
Met you at the WA state fair was a great experience to meet you my brother one of the best Mixed martial artists EVER!
DJ had the balls to bring it up, Joe had the balls to answer.
That's how conversations should always go.
Demetrious is almost impossible to work out in the octagon. He is that good. Great to hear him talk about his transition from the UFC.
My favorite of all time. You are the man DJ.
This guy is a legend and one of the greatest to ever to it. Amazing fighter. Genius!
Mighty mouse will never see this but that last one fight was one of the greatest performances I've ever seen
Im mighty mouse dude i use a fake account thanks for the love yes i read the comms
Guy is 5’3 and is the greatest mma fighter ever
How well DJ did with Rodtang in the standup deserves so much respect.
I find myself going back and watching old fights more from the non-UFC events because there’s so much more interesting these days
I very rarely, if ever, think Joe is lying... but there's a first time for everything and my spidey sense is tingling...😅
Always wished more people knew about how much of an amazing person DJ is.
I’m hyped whenever joe drops an mma show cuz those are the only episodes I watch
Oooohhhhh .. thanks for clearing this up 👍
I literally live in the same neighborhood as him. Dude is a beast
Joe Rogan being put on the spot was so unexpected lol
great interview
DJ, please invite Yan over to OneFC rules for a historic legendary fight. Pretty please with Suga on top. LOL
Cant believe they traded him for ben askren. Dj the goat
Worked out better for the UFC. DJ is great but not a draw. Without Ben we don't have the Masvidal flying knee and everything that followed.
DJ goat in a piss poor division
@@CJM23 agreed. Without that knee we would have never saw colby beat the shit out of masvidal. And never see masvidal as a cheap pussy street punk
DJ was the lowest PPV champion in the sport BY FAR. The Ben Askren trade made masvidal a star so from Dana’s perspective it’s one of the best decisions he ever made
You mean asscream?
I met this guy at the fair like a month ago such a nice humble guy
🐐❤️🌹💯 A treasure to see him compete.
can’t wait to watch this one a true GOAT
Triple C is coming back? Because I vaguely recall this overrated arrogant fighter getting smashed before being booted to the B Leagues
@@sECUREij Demetrious fought in empty arenas and nobody bought any of his fights everybody is just pretending they were his fan because it’s fashionable to try to get something over on Dana lately
Happy for Demetrious. He's a great champion.
I think with DJ going to One FC was the best move possible, it cements his legacy further because not only does he have the record for most title defences in the ufc he is now the champion over there proving that he literally is the best in the world. Also the UFC never really appreciated what a talent he is & without him there wouldn’t be a flyweight devision which is now one of the most exciting devisions
Wonderful fighter. One of my all time favourites.
You know Mighty was such a GOAT because he’s still so articulate and seems like he doesn’t have any signs of CTE
Dude went to my highschool! graduated a few years before me
Needed this
Met him in Vegas right before his last fight and he is a super cool dude!
Incredibly well spoken for a guy who has spent his life fighting for a living. Nate's punchy head out don't make the speak good no more
Dana White said that DJ's fight that he headlined on pay per view was the lowest rated in modern day UFC (after Zuffa took over). Its so shocking to me because the smaller guys fights are so exciting. Plus, when you see them on TV they dont look much smaller than the heavier fighters that bring the bigger $$$$. In the end, its all about money. DJ was one of the GOATS and still is. He deserved more than what the UFC did for him.
I haven't watched UFC in years, but I hardly ever miss an One event. The match ups are better, less ridiculous press events, and the mixup is amazing.
Demetrious Johnson is such a dude, phenomenal athlete but also a really cool dude, smart bloke, it's a shame ufc couldn't step up too the plate and facilitate Demetrious proper.
He dispelled the myth that UFC is the end all be all of MMA
Mighty Mouse you will always be the GOAT PERIOD, not just for fighting but every aspect of the game.
never really watched johnson but this podcast makes him look like a really chill dude
Underrated Goat level fighter. His match with Rodtang was one of the most interesting stuff to happen in the MMA world. I hope UFC puts similar fights as well
Haha Joe got called out and then acted like he didn’t know what DJ was talking about but you could tell he definitely had part in it because he didn’t just immediately deny it
Hmmm
One of the most humble fighters, also one of the most skilled. UFC made a bad trade, imagine having a goat under your flag and letting him go for someone who loses every fight. (I know he won vs Robbie, but did he really?)
Such a great attitude from dj.
Demetrious is such an artist in so many ways.
@@rungeon83 DJ is 5'3 and was walking around at 140 pounds while bantamweights typically walk around at 150-160.
More appreciated in asia sure.
UFC doesn’t have dehydration rules so the weight classes are inaccurate/skewed anyway. ONE is the better competition and over time UFC viewers will start to see through the hype
After the O'Malley farce I'm done with UFC one champion is the way to go and man I want to see Mikey on the mat with mighty mouse . Mikey refused to call out mouse but invited him and said it would be a great honour for him to share the mat with the legend that is mighty mouse ☮️
ONE FC is just different man. It's true martial arts
UFC has become too much show and asshatery since McGregor
Bye
You are now one of 2.7billion people that watch One's fights.
@@mattl9831 kinda crazy how many people watch combat sports and never had or want to be in a fight . I like watching Jujitsu now I don't need to see young fighters get brain hurt I'm not entertained by disrespectful call outs . I want to see Mikey V mighty mouse .
@@brettbaratheon9776 I'm gonna miss you though xx
This is the way champs in MMA should conduct themselves. A total class act and a great champ.
Class act and well spoken.
The disrespect to rid this man from the ufc… that’s a true martial artist.
To see the baby GOAT (Because he is still so young) in a great head space is AWESOME...DJ we love ya, and miss you...Thank you Joe/Jaime for doing this...
FINALLY.. I was wondering when DJ would finally be on
I think Mighty Mouse is a great fighter would have loved for him to stay in UFC , but the point MM made about joe having a part in him leaving sounded like something you would be told of someone in the street , which was pretty much confirmed by joe simply making a face and saying “yeah that’s a rumour” 😂
That Mighty Mouse and Rodtang fight was completely off the fucking wall. It really shows just how good DJ really is, I mean guys who's whole fighting style is Muay Thai can't go toe to toe with Rodtang for a whole ass round. It was such an impressive fight, and convinced me Rodtang is truly psychotic, dude didn't even look like the thought of tapping out ever crossed his mind. It was either choke him out cold or nothing 😅
I’m glad I’m not the only one😂 Rodtang is different but their fight was truly something amazing
Rodtang is a true warrior's warrior.
DJ is a true Samurai.
Seeing Mighty mouse, a man shorter than me who being capable of defeating not only much bigger and taller opponents, but ALSO trained fighters; he gave me confidence since I'm 5'5 and inspired me to train even harder.
Miss him in the UFC he dominated people and was so fun to watch. That last fight he had was so close could of gone either way.
Joe is probably thinking damn I was drunk talking with Dana one night and never thought this would get back to me lmao
For sure😂
He is a perfect mix martial artist literally perfect.
What a genuine man. Modest to the core.
If he was fighting in a bigger weight division he would get the respect he deserves.
Just a testament to how casuals ruin sports.
Would've loved to see him move up to 135 in UFC. Just imagine Cruz pre-Garbrandt vs Mighty Mouse.
His suplex into armbar was the most beautiful transition i've ever seen in UFC.
Ive never seen anyone like Mr. Johnson fight.
Its always an amazing event.
