It's almost like you have to demonstrate why an immoral ruling is immoral to the people who supported it. I do feel terrible for the people affected, but my heart also breaks for the women whose lives and bodies sustain sometimes irreconcilable damage due to being forced to carry an unwanted or unviable pregnancy as a result of this same legislation. If these people want support, they should be very clear that they also support the other side of this same argument. If it's fine to leave a "baby" in a freezer for decades, it's fine to remove that "baby" from the womb. If those embryos are not people, neither is the embryo in a pregnant women's womb. This isn't a quid pro quo thing, they literally can not successfully make this argument without acknowledging the flip side (that banning abortion is a sham) and they shouldn't be up here defending the "well intentioned" motives of the people who have decided to rob all women of their reproductive rights.

This might be irrelevant, but it honestly kind of aggravated me when the lady said that IVF is their "only option" as if they never heard of adoption, especially now with all of these poor women and girls who are literally being forced against their will to pop out unwanted babies.
Please don't treat adoption as a substitution for giving birth, it should really be considered it's own separate thing. It's harmful for the mental health of adopted children. Like imagine living your life wondering if your family actually loves you for you or only wanted you as a replacement for the kids they couldn't have. Plus, treating adoption as a substitution for giving birth is how you end up in situations where a family adopts a child, then if they give birth later on neglect the adopted child for their "own kids".
@@sigheyerollIs the alternative a lifetime of knowing you're insurmountably different in the eyes of your parents from your other siblings just because you're adopted?
Adopt! “It’s take a village” yet all mothers are constantly complaining there “is no village anymore”…. You know why? Because we are manufacturing human life now, when we should be rallying around those who creation happens naturally for and the millions of unclaimed babies around the world. Baby making has become a consumer system. I’m not religious but the creation of life wasn’t meant to be messed with.
It isn't! Only the woman's eggs are frozen. These eggs are missing 50% of DNA coming from a man to even have the necessary genetic material to create a Human. Then, there's the problem of gestation. A fertilized, Human egg doesn't develop by itself, because we aren't an Oviparous species. In simple terms: we aren't chickens!
On the other hand, lots of people may find it easier to get an embryo to have a baby as opposed to having to find a sperm or egg donor like they do now.
here is a simple solution to declaring embryos as legally a child since parents can legally give their children up for adoption give up the embryos for adoption, then they are "wards of the state" and the state is legally required to provide for them

That's exactly what I said. IVF is truly just a selfish act. It's not that they want to be parents to children so they can love them. It's that they think their specific DNA is so special it needs to be carried on to the next generation. At least that's how it seems to me.
Crazy what happens when everything is politicized. What happened to limiting government overreach? Now people beg for it if it suits their red or blue team narrative. Both sides.
No need for modern medicine in the South. Broke a bone? Pray for a fix. Disease? Pray for divine intervention. Two otherwise healthy people unable to have a pregnancy? Pray over it. I have friends who have only been able to have children because of IVF and I think it’s wonderful. I’m just asking questions.
There is a much higher chance of a viable pregnancy if the eggs are fertilized before freezing. I feel for these women. One another side of this story, frozen embryos that are leftover after the parents have the children they desire, these extra embryos can be put up for adoption. Due to being on birth control pills to help decrease the pain of her cycle, my sister went through early menopause, but didn’t know it. She really wanted a child and adopted an embryo. She has a beautiful, smart little boy. She would never have likely been able to have a child if someone else who had difficulty getting pregnant hadn’t gone through IVF, then put up the rest of the embryos for adoption. I would have done the same thing, except my job wasn’t flexible enough to be a single parent, and my fertility problems required me to have a hysterectomy.
You don't understand the basic desire for having children. Adoption is not the same. And it's not for everyone. People want family lineage. Adopting someone else's kid doesn't even come close.

Pro-Life Movement preventing families from being able to have kids was the irony I didn't have on my 2024 bingo card
This might be irrelevant, but it honestly kind of aggravated me when the lady said that IVF is their "only option" as if they never heard of adoption, especially now with all of these poor women and girls who are literally being forced against their will to pop out unwanted babies.
Real
She is allowed to want a child from her and her husband. Plus the red tape to adopt in US. It's the reason people adopt overseas.
If this were 1960 they would just remain childless or adopt. Technology has made it too easy for people to turn their backs on adoptable children.

I think the question would be, if they had an embryo of theirs frozen would they consider it a human life?

She's the "moderate" one in the GOP? Any questions?
here is a simple solution to declaring embryos as legally a child
since parents can legally give their children up for adoption
give up the embryos for adoption, then they are "wards of the state" and the state is legally required to provide for them

IVF is truly just a selfish act. It's not that they want to be parents to children so they can love them. It's that they think their specific DNA is so special it needs to be carried on to the next generation.
At least that's how it seems to me.
Because it's complicated. Can't we just let people make their own choices?

An catipillar isn't a butterfly, but it is still a life. It's technically the same situation here. An embryo is a life.
Only if it implants in a uterus. No guarantee that will happen when using IVF or through intercourse.

I am confused why does this prevent people starting IVF? They know which embryos are viable or not viable. They know what the embryo is.
Because unviable or unused embryos are routinely destroyed. Now, in Alabama, that can't happen.

@@jennperson6008 I only ask about being able to donate your viable embryos, because I think that would be amazing. Could I do it ? I have friends who have only been able to have children because of IVF and I think it’s wonderful. I’m just asking questions.
Cave people knew about birds / bees.
Hate to say but maybe consider adoption? I say no new kids until all children have been adopted. Then and only then should people pass on their genes.
