Personal tip from a player with 3k hours: Slow the heck down. Spend that extra 5-8 minutes scouting out a town or military base with binoculars or a scoped rifle. It does a lot of good to size up your competition, if there is any. Figure out what gear they have, how many of them there are, what their position is, and where they are headed before you pick a fight. This also gives a brief period where any players following your trail may run up ahead of you, giving you the advantage. Its always better to spend 5 minutes scouting than to spend 3 hours spawning in and re-gearing to run back.
Depends. I've been playing since this was just an Arma mod. That 5 minutes of looking for someone that isn't even there yet could get you killed, too. If you had just approached, looted, kept moving then you'd have been 5 min ahead of company instead of getting into a fight. Time is of the essence sometimes.
@@ratooeybusinessman6066 I interchange between the two. Not even on purpose but because I'm sloppy half the time. I'm typically the one who gets the jump on someone without intending to. Maybe it's best to switch between scouting for a bit and getting in and out.
@ratooeybusinessman6066 That's just bad luck at that point. You also might see company move in ahead of you in that time you spend scouting. To get the exact timing where they just move in as soon as you do is unlucky. Some areas arent easy to scout out so yeah sure it might be best to just get in and get out in those cases, but more often than not in my experience slowing down and scouting out prevents unnecessary contact and gives me the edge .
6k hour player here. I'm gonna be entirely honest. I don't think I've ever used the binoculars to scout anything, not even once. Like the other guy said, scouting is also an opportunity for other people to show up, so being quick with your looting and always staying on the move is a better bet if possible. I'm not saying never scout, just leave the time you do it to a minimum.
@@Elliot-f6x It's really common for people to struggle gaining PVP skills for a while because it's something that you're exposed to the least. But they will definitely come!
These tips were great. I'm rubbish at PVP, if someone starts shooting I leg it 😂😅 especially if I don't know where they're shooting from. However, the leg it technique has saved me so many times beyond count, and I haven't been killed in Sakhal at all because of it and I've been playing since it came out 😊🙌
I love Day Z, it’s my favorite game of all time. Everyone I played with had all quit cause it’s too difficult. It sometimes get lonely playing by myself.
The first tip about using guns with different ammo is kind of irrelevant no offense. Either you manage your ammo or you don’t. Doesn’t matter what types you have you either pay attention to your supplies or you don’t. I get what you’re trying to put people onto but just a little awareness cancels that issue out. The other tips were all really good though no offense intended
A buddy taught me this.. its not really a PVP tip or really a tip at all.. but when my session is coming to an end i find the spot im going to log out from then i pop a few shots off from my loudest gun right before exiting. Lol.
The ammo thing is good if ur solo. It guarantees you can always find ammo for at least one of ur guns. Just remember if ur in a squad to standardize if possible. You run out of ammo in combat. U wanna be able to ask for a mag from ur squadmates.
A simple tip that almost always guarentees you'll win in a quick gunfight, is utilising chest high cover like cars and other objects. Especially if your opponent is without cover.
I'm decent at PVP, but play on Xbox one still and my game just lags ridiculous ammounts anytime i get near another player or base even. I avoid people at all costs for that one reason. Lag=early death, early trip to the coast.
The game is basically unplayable on old gen, i used to play on it. Its worth the upgrade, since i made the switch to series S i never have problems unless theres a huge mega base with tons of storage containers and lots of dead bodies and loose gear on the ground.
@tmoney1487 dude lol, my Xbox gets sooo hot sometimes when I'm playing. I hopped onto a TDM server at NWAF with like 40 players and my Xbox didn't know what to do 😂 I haven't experienced real lag until that game. I swear I saw smoke coming out of the thing lmao
Contrary to your ammo tip. A smart move is to carry as many things thay take the same ammo. Have a submachine and a side arm that say both run on the same calibur is a good way to go. Even if you were to use the pioneer and m4/m16 etc....because then you are jist running 5.56 no need to juggle multiple caliburs.
I say early game when you have little inventory space and are running into less armored players and hostile wildlife, this is good. But eventually you want to switch it up. Typically most people will take a long range and mid-short range weapons. Like a Blaze and an AK. Not many people will take like an SSG and AK.
Not the right answer, but to get practice, get geared, then run up the coast. Eventually you'll get bored of killing Freshie/ low geared players and be surprised you killed a fully geared player on the coast.
@@robertdemoine5066 I apologise, you're right, sorry!!! I was in the middle of responding to about 100 comments at the time so I misread what you said. I've amended the original comment =]
Alternatively, quit playing the game like it's CoD. Dont rush in blindly if you dont know whether or not someone is occupying a building. Its not their fault you decided to make an uneducated play rushing into their line of fire and died because of it. Just because someone plays smart doesn't mean they're scared. They have no obligation to push you, there is no time limit or objective. They can wait you out all day long. Don't like it? Play a different game.
@griefgaming2787 4k hours and youre in youtube comments crying about people making the objectively correct play? Okay buddy. Keep playing like its CoD if you want to, but don't come crying to the community when you get outplayed and expect people to just agree with you 😂. Also insulting my skill level and you dont even know me instead of making a valid argument. Your ego is so inflated lil bro. You'd get destroyed on the servers i play on.
My best PVP tips are, don't play on easy servers with 3PP and gun collision switched off. Most importantly, don't game the game by using lame tricks such as switching guns by putting them on the floor first. Lastly, ignore videos like this because they offer no real tips to getting better at PVP. Situational awareness, intelligent movement and patience will win more fights than this nonsense click bait.
L opinion. Go play PvE servers if you dont like it. This would be the most stale and boring game ever without PvP. Gearing up would mean nothing, moving past the coast would be pointless. You might as well sit on the edge of the ocean by a campfire 50m away from a water well and fish all day, thats what PvE servers boil down to. No one plays this game strictly for PvE. Go play 7 Days to Die or State of Decay or The Long Dark. If youre still struggling or find challenge with PvE in dayz you probably have 50 hours or less in the game.
@tmoney1487 Plenty of time in the game. Almost no quality interactions with other players beyond some dipshit(presumably the likes of you) approaching and stalking me unprovoked so you can exercise the only level of dominance you'll ever get to experience in life.
@markbrowning4334 Sounds like you play on the wrong servers then bud. PvE or RP would be better suited for you if all you crave is player interactions. Not knowing someone else's intentions when you approach them or try to talk and travel with them is half the fun. The game is lame if all everyone does is hold hands singing kumbaya around a campfire. I personally will interact with with people unless they have a gun in their hands or already have a squad. If we meet on the coast and you dont come out the gate swinging then I'm chill asf. But if youre running through a tier 2+ town and i see you have a SSG on your back and an AK in your hands then no, im not taking the chance and im just gonna shoot you in the back and take your stuff.
