Bozza was alive and well when Mr. Wright made this recording; man I hope he heard it.... the only other recording I can think of where the technical mastery of this very difficult piece is equal to Mr. Wright is the Ricardo Morales recording (French Portraits)
Right, and you can also hear how much that French Portraits interpretation was influenced by this. AND this was live...the French Portraits CD was studio.
If NASA wants to send samples of the clarinet to contact other beings in outer space, this is the example they should chose. This is the best we humans have done with the instrument!
It is mostly Double-Lip Embouchure. He sounds like that on any reed or mouthpiece - believe me, I have heard it. Double lip forces you to play clarinet the best away. Then make single-lip sound the same way.
My favorite clarinetist of ALL TIME!
I am completely blown away by this --thanks so much for uploading it for us earthlings ❣️
Glad you enjoy it!

Remember, this is in DENVER---a horrible place to play the clarinet and a live performance.
Thanks for posting this!
Nos encanta!!! Maravilloso.

this is not easy
Does anyone know the make of Wright"s M.P. and facing?
He played Chedeville mouthpieces, facing worked by Everette Matson
I've never heard such a beautiful clar. sound. What brand of reed did he use and strength?
