That's what I been saying forever, there's a difference between a MC and a Rapper. We not old school we was around when the culture started so if you came up in the 80's and 90's we rocking wit MC's. It's only a handful for MC's that are in the mainstream. My opinion Rappers are Pop and MC's are Hiphop. It is what it is, people say, it is hiphop evolving. No! It's just not hiphop you can't make a orange a apple, it's a orange. People try to label certain music hiphop because they want it to be considered cool.
@@derekfraser9338 Then that would be a complete different genre and then you couldn't reap the benefit in anything that the genre you spawned from created & there's enough of us that think perhaps you should do that and keep the legends out of your mouth. It would give you guys the respect that you're so craving.
Absolutely. It’s not hating to say that’s not a orange if it’s a Apple. You also hear Hiphop’s evolving. It’s not evolving if you take away the foundation it was built on BARS! Start a genre because what y’all doing is more spoken word. You hear people say they like this or that one. You noticed they never talk about they flow. That’s why I say let it be known I’m a MC, he a rapper. True Hiphop heads wasn’t shocked at Jadakiss at verzuz. Everybody else was because they haven’t seen the culture represented correctly. Really didn’t know what it consisted.
21 simply picked a poor choice of words, he didn’t mean irrelevant in terms of his career. He meant in terms of artists from Nas era such as a Jay Z or Puff Daddy, being outside, and in the mix with the younger, newer artists. Im glad him and Nas did a song together to kill the noise.

It wasnt a misunderstanding. He used the word, "relevant", but what he was describing was "popular" or what's poppin right now. It was the wrong word. He even said in the interview that, "Maybe I'm using the wrong word." But, as Styles said, it's on you for what comes out of your mouth. That includes when your using words incorrectly, even if you dont mean any harm.
Nah, the old heads and gatekeepers of hiphop cosigned the bullshit of these new artists when they came in the game, and all this is from that. They didn't want to come off as haters so they let drill and Trap take over and now Lyrics and anything of substance is fuckn joke in hiphop.
They can't really control it that much. You can't stop the internet (unless you stop the internet) new trends emerge (or are pushed) a % of 🐑 population falls for the trend and more 🐑 artists take that path to try to succeed
@T Obe I beg to differ. Other genres controlled what they deemed hot and acceptable, in accordance of what was in the lineage of what was already present , hiphop is the only genre that "allowed" certain shit to happen to it. They let outsiders influence the culture and direction because they threw money at it, and now we are stuck in the money race

Love the real Babershop talk energy. Worse part about what savage said (and tried to back pedal on after the blowback, let's be clear) is exactly what he meant when he spoke on "relevant". If you take a real look at it, he's looking at from a label/corporate perspective; the way they measure (and because of it, either often miss or hurt the culture). Basically in streams, numbers, clicks in a certain age group. But the reason for that is because of how much money they can get from them. Nothing more. Not how passionate people are about, or how long that passion can be sustained. But the relevance Nas has is more cultural in every direction. He's expanded & still continues to expand the landscape & reach of Hip Hop - and here's the important part - to NEW & bigger areas. Areas where it's normally not seen. Where it previously didn't seem to belong or was respected. What Savage is calling relevance is basically autopilot for the culture, mostly maintained by artist who if we're being real are replaceable. One extreme & gross example being of the labels making an Ai rapper. And that rapper racking up ridiculous numbers world wide. Cormega had the perfect break down w/ that Landmark Vs Building metaphor. 21's definition is like one of the many new skyscraper in Manhattan built over the last couple of years. Nas is like the Empire State Building.

There's enough of us around to start our own if we wanted to....😔🤯🤬
@@derekfraser9338 Then that would be a complete different genre and then you couldn't reap the benefit in anything that the genre you spawned from created & there's enough of us that think perhaps you should do that and keep the legends out of your mouth.

Yoooo Math, this the realest channel!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!
Obviously didn't kill the noise. That dumb statement will haunt him.
If he’s doesn’t know how to articulate his words, especially being a rapper 😂 he needs to find another career. You can miss me with that bullshit. I bet he wouldn’t say that shit to any members of THE LOX 😂😂😂😂
@@tondriagrimm3871 Ever that's why Styles went off because 21 ain't one of the GoDz and I ain't talking rap, Nas is stamped in NY flat out! 🗽
That was exactly what I thought he meant with that statement. Cos this gen listen to a different style of Rap now.

About time somebody said what P just said. Why cats be hesitant in saying this younger generation vocal skills and pen game is garbage. SMH. Like Nas told Nore step ya game up, Drake can tell 21 and all the other lil somebody’s.
Because they don’t want to seem like haters because that’s what these dumb mfers call anybody who points out how much they suck at rapping.
We don’t respect New York in the south we grew up on 3 6 mafia etc . We don’t care about lyrics . If the hoes can’t get with it we ain’t fw it . We like our trunk to be rattling from the subwoofers . New York music doesn’t offer that
@@Los334_ that’s not true. I’m from the south and we are lyrical. I can name a bunch of lyricist from the south. This new generation just in it for the money and the vibes; truth be told a big majority just don’t have the talent straight up! They have the connect to the studio but they really ain’t artist.
@Keeping it real Sports speak for yourself. I'm out the projects in New Orleans and we been on Nas since the 90s kid. Speak for yourself and your town. Lying on "We". Fk outta here son.
@@Dana7P Andre is probably one of the greatest lyricists EVER. Not just in the south but no talent dudes like Young Thug will talk shit about him. It’s disrespectful when you nowhere near as talented and you’re saying something about a top tier MC. That shit has to stop.

Just imagine DMX in the barbershop talking about 21 savage..?? Things would of turn ugly real quick..🤣
10 things to quit for all Strong Men:
1. Caring about what others think
2. Not believing in yourself
3. Not experimenting different ideas / solutions for problems (life&business)
4. Not prioritizing your health
5. Wasting your precious time
6. Wanting something (instead write a plan and work towards it)
7. Chasing meaningless relationships
8. Wasting or draining your energy from beating your meat 🥩
9. Wasting time by scrolling social media

I like that styles don’t mind callin us out when we wrong . A lot of times y’all let us young boys come up there n just say dumb shit & don’t nobody check em
This is why Styles P/the Ghost is so important to the Culture.
Grown man talk!
Legends that are not lyrcist: will smith, hammer, dougie fresh, heavy d... but they all made good music, and had good delivery.
Nah, they all had lyrics for their time, maybe except Hammer, Doug E Fresh is not a rapper per se...Will has classics (Summer Time) and Heavy D was basically a fat version of Drake (catering to women/lightskin dude) RIP Heavy D
@@WalkingWallet having a classic is not being a lyricists... will smith had a gimmick that worked for him that elevated him, and that was parents just font understand, which was rapping with some comedy, but it wasnt nothing that had any bars that was deep, or nothing to eat up a rapper... especially not summertime... those were good songs. And heavy d was the fat guy that could dance girls loved, and had some dope beats, starting withr big stuff. But there were rappers that had gimmicks, but as well was lyricists like Slick Rick, 3rd bass, heck cant forget about camp-lo. And doug e fresh is a rapper with a gimmick of beat boxin... listen to keep rising to the top.
Styles really took this to heart lol I respect it
I think people misunderstood 21 ,when it comes to New York nggas and the way they look at Nas and Jay,anything you say will be taken to heart,he did a song with Nas for F sake he respects him and I bet they had a good conversation 😂
He should have just said knowledge is irrelevant then it wouldn’t have been a big deal.

Styles is the true epitome of a legend.
This is facts I just never thought of it this way because I like 21
🗣Stright facts dude was out of line. Don't speak on Nasir Jones.
I have to agree. Now these mumble mouth no talent idiots think their music is amazing and good music is corny. I hate this era.

@@ALexander-ue3kj negga that’s not what he said just cuz he looks up to Gucci don’t mean he don’t look up to drake negga relax.
Need to look at the sensitivity/levels of the lower frequencies/mic placement as there is a lot of distortion coming through.
Drake don't get enough credit as a lyricist... I also believe he'll pull up to this podcast
He gotta write his lyrics to get that.
Because has a ghost writer. I’m not saying he’s not capable, but he’s no writer. Styles P , Jada, & Sheek write all there material. And ghost writes for other artists as well. Facts
Drake is not a lyricist at all I like drake don’t get me wrong he more of a artist
@@tondriagrimm3871 you do realize Drake has written for multiple artists and none of his lyrical songs have reference tracks and Quentin Miller who helped him said he is not his ghostwriter and he just co-wrote with him and was credited and Quentin said he watched Drake write 6PM in New York by himself and freestyle Madonna
Y'all don't know what the word lyricist means. Y'all don't know what the word relevant means. It's heartbreaking.

Ghost I feel the same way. But I believe quietly Drake believes he is better than all the greats. I guess no one has noticed Drake aligns himself with artist who are brave enuff to say what he isn't. Drake be moving wit dat light skinned energy. Respectfully.😂
Bingo
Drake literally appeals to suburban America and yts kids that want to be "cool" 🤣
