Jane Curtin seems way too comfortable in this role...
Ring around the collar?! Ring around the collar?!
I would be very comfortable of her to be in that role. Maybe even today.
For real...Who knew?
You’re not waxing the floor, you’re waxing the wax! 😂
Wow, this is my first time researching Gilda Radner and Jane Curtin and they are true comedic gems and beautiful, too 😍
These two are comedic icons !!!
Just brilliant!!!
That's not Mrs. Zimmerman, that's time travelling Bree Van de Kamp
"You miserable insect!" LOL I loved her delivery on that line.
You think you could ever possibly be like me?
I keep coming back to this video. These are comedic actresses in every sense of the word, "actress". They stay true to their characters until the bitter end. Professional.
What she's wearing looks like it's beyond it's time. The style is so 90's. Jane Curtain really looks good in that.
Um it' s bondage ware.
S and M? Scrubbing and mopping
Omg Marge Simpson said that too.
Or maybe sexual misconduct
:fires tranquilizer dart in OP's direction:
Steve Martin said "Spanairds & Mexicans."
when 10 dollars an hour was expensive 😂
$10 in 1976 = $46 Today
@@PIXPromosMore yes. Inflation is funny in retrospect
No one seems to get the point.
They were quoting old commercials that treat women as subservient and suggest weird standards on what a “wife” should do/be.
It is satire.
um, i dont think so. i just took it as a comical situation that she didnt realize it was a sexual ad
@@michelerich1590 it's both. I don't do winds was a popular tag line at the time.
Those of us who are old enough get it, since we saw those commercials.
Jane curtain in a way returned to this roll in the 3D version of 3rd rock from the sun
The best cast ever, hands down! Legends!
1976, goddamn
Anyone else notice the bronze cake pan in the back on the shelf? I know it's supposed to be mushrooms but it looks like *teehee*... golden girls had the same one hanging in the kitchen.
What are you? Rain Woman?
The Bunkers had one too. On the kitchen wall. Oh, Aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrcccchhhhhhhiiiiieeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!
It's a mold of a lobster guys. It's a LOBSTER!!! You sickos. (In the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's jello dishes were popular - (the lobster mold was a popular dish to mold jello and other weird food combinations mixed with jello). Look it up and get your mind out of the gutter. Hahaha.
ua-cam.com/video/bHo1RRSTN4E/v-deo.html
Just an example but there are old adds of disgusting jello oddities.
No wonder, your French fries tastes greasy, your freezer wrap doesn’t cling and your cat food doesn’t thunk-a-thunk!
My wife, I think I'll keep her.
I'm only in the first minute of this sketch but I feel like I'm going to be gay by the end of it.
Neither of them read cue cards the entire scene. This was back when the cast of SNL actually memorized their lines.
Yes, they did. And SNL has always used cue cards. At the very end of this sketch, when the camera pulls back, you can literally see one of the cue card holders. Some cast members are just better at appearing more natural.
They might have had them but didn’t read them here.
Not to mention breaking character and laughing which Laraine Newman said was a huge no no. Lorne Michaels looked down on that for a long time. It's only been in recent years that he's changed his attitude on that
@@woohooboy Candace Bergen broke character in her sketch with Gilda and cracked up, and it was hilarious. But that was a rare exception.
“I don’t do windows.”
Best punchline EVER.
I've never seen this... just watched Love, Gilda lol
I need her over at my house. I have two baskets of laundry that I haven’t folded up in weeks
Jane makes a great dominatrix
*cracks whip*
That plate break over Gilda's head was very convincing. It sure did not look like a breakaway.
Such a brilliant sketch
Just the curtains and drapes
*Years* before "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" obsessed about her waxy yellow buildup in E1S1 ....
Boom mike at 2:12
First time I've ever seen this sketch. Great.
Why Miss Curtain, you're beautiful?!
I don't do windows
I've never understood that old joke about cleaning windows. It's one of the easiest household tasks.
Windows.... Too freaky for me
Too kinky. 😂
It's from an old commercial in the 70's
You know a video is vintage when it is not in HD #Season45
Lol windows was too risqué for her... no red light district
It's a tag line from an old commercial, like most of the other dialogue in this sketch.
Saaay...that's a coppertone fridge!
Hiliarous😜👻
Let's get....cracking.
"You miserable insect"omg 😮poor Gilda😢
I'm not into domination at all. But having a gorgeous girl like Jane shouting at me to do household chores would certainly motivate me.
teppolundgren she’s a woman not a girl.
@@mercurialsound7670 Oh, for fuck's sake...
teppolundgren Bitch shut up I’m 21
Gina Woods wow i hate people like you
Let's get....cracking.
When you are a bad house wife
Yeowww
Holy crap , an snap vid with only 11 comments. Something is seriously wrong
Lucky she didn't do the windows.
❤
753 views on and SNL really
Who cares? I'm thumbing this comment down.
Could they do this nowadays?
My guess is a big NO.
I would have to say yes since based on all the comments saying this was a satire sketch based around sexist home cleaning products commercials of the 70s geared toward women. Meaning sketches like the digital short Welcome to Hell music video and the Handmaid's Tale one are all modern day equivalents to that.
We would here a deafening "REEEEEEEEEEEE......."
Yes.
the love i have for this sketch surely had nothing to do with lesbianism,

Third
Faye Dunaway turned down the role.
She scares me.
Dunaway could have done a great job too. Fantastic actress and very sweet person too. The one that is cold and nasty is Jane Fonda. Believe me, I have met them both.

BDSM existed way back then? 🤮
Haha
Centuries!
@@elizabethharttley4073 What? For centuries????? No wonder, I have been engaged in a twitter feud with a BDSM expert prostitute about the finer points of morality about doing it.
BDSM has existed about as long as sex.
Wait til someone tells this oaf that traditional gender roles and 24/7 are basically the kinkiest human activities!
Good riddance SNL !!!!
I watched every show. Never missed one colduck and a dube.
Bad skit. Just not funny. Jane as a dominatrix? That’s a bridge too far.
