  • Disney World dining is notoriously known for all its delicious sugar, carbs, and salt! But what if you want to eat a little lighter? Is there ANYTHING healthy to eat there? Molly is headed to all four Disney theme parks and Disney Springs to try out some healthy meals and snacks to see if it's even worth eating healthy in Disney World.

    Thanks for focusing on “healthier” rather than just the lowest calorie option. Health can mean many things to people, and it felt great to see basically everyone included.

    Most of the time I base what I eat off of the weather. If it is hot and sticky out, I’ll go for something lighter, to keep my stomach from getting upset. If it’s a cooler or crisp day, I’ll indulge in a nice hot (and let’s be real, usually not the healthiest) meal or snack. It’s all about balance and portion control for me personally. But, everyone is different😊 Eat and be happy! 😋

    It would be really cool to see the calories consumed in a day of "normal" eating vs. eating healthy. Like if you tracked calories/macros on an app like my fitness pal. Last trip to Disney in 2018 we planned out all our meals ahead of time to know where to go for "healthier" options in the parks. You def. gave me some ideas for eating in the parks in the future. Thank you!!

    My healthier eating tips as an AP and former CM is : water , water , water . Stay hydrated !! Even in the cooler months . I personally almost always order from kids menu from the quick service , it’s cheaper , fills me up just fine and there’s always a veggie or fruit involved 😊

    At the ice cream cart, the menu you skimmed over included a chocolate-covered banana with nuts. Real fruit, no artificial sweeteners, some protein and good fats from the nuts....much better than the artificial sweeteners in that "fruit" bar!

    • @Nicole-by3ng
      @Nicole-by3ng 2 роки тому +1

      Maybe the chocolate is milk chocolate, which mean it has dairy so it might no longer healthy. Also nuts can add up the calories.

    • @CritterKeeper01
      @CritterKeeper01 2 роки тому +1

      @@Nicole-by3ng I assume if you're eating *anything* then there are calories involved. The goal is to eat the right amount of calories, and to eat healthy foods as much as possible to do it. As I said, the fats in nuts are healthy types of fat. Banana and nuts are good ways to spend your calories; the chocolate is less so, but overall the banana is a better choice.

    For anyone keto or carnivore, it’s pretty easy to find meat, cheese, and salad/veggies at the buffets or sit down restaurants. My husband and I have DVC, so we stay in the villas with a full kitchen and buy ribeyes at Trader Joe’s and eat that and some eggs (maybe some green beans) for our one meal a day.
    You can also stay at very reasonably-priced resorts with kitchens off property, so this is a great option.

      You could easily do a breakfast at hotel, PB sandwich type deal with snacks that you bring in and then do the special snacks like dole whip (and share say one or two for a family of 4) and a yummier quick service dinner to save $ :)

    Also, just as an fyi, corn is actually a grain. I know those of us that grew up in the south consider it a veggie. But it isn't. To be fair though, we also often see mac and cheese on the "veggie" menu. Haha.

    It's nice to hear this coverage from someone who "gets" it, that healthier doesn't necessarily mean low-fat. Good fats, no added sugar, stay away from processed foods. Healthier means good for the brain as well as the body. Thank you for the video. Morocco is one of my go-to options but I never had their fried hummus. I would have just assumed it was breaded--looking forward to trying this in a couple of weeks.

    My favorite at Magic Kingdom is the cheese and fruit tray at Gaston. I have that for breakfast. I'm diabetic but I can't have any artificial sweeteners so it can be hard at Disney. I buy one treat a day and eat half of it. I try to substitute green beans or veggies for carb options. I also drink water except at dinner. I plan most of my meals ahead of time. I do this so I can have occasional splurge and still feel well in the park.

    • @96mashy
      @96mashy 3 роки тому

      Are they good at labelling items or having lists of ingredients in the parks? I can’t have any artificial sweeteners and am worried about planning meals and drinks when I get to visit

    • @stacylgh
      @stacylgh 3 роки тому

      @@96mashy No. You can always ask there but I prefer to plan in advance. Table Service is much better about it. I don't get anything that says diet, low sugar, or sugar free including the diabetic options for dessert. I just get the regular high sugar treats and only have up to half. The Dole Whip is a great option. It hurts my frugal heart to throw it away. At Disney I have a "sugar budget" as well as a financial one and I really want to try the treats. The sizes are just so large so it's the option that works best for me. I bring filtered water bottles and we drink a ton of water there. I'm from the South so Sweet Tea is what I usually get when we eat out somewhere. They don't have it at Disney except for a few restaurants. That helps.

    I liked this video! Quite often when I looked for healthy foods at Disney online, it just showed either salads or foods that are like vegan or gluten free that doesn't have much nutritional value (like you mentioned with bakery place at the end). Whenever I'm on a trip that's longer than two nights I just need to eat something relatively healthy every once in a while. I don't necessarily want something low in calories, but I mainly want vegetables. If I mainly eat fatty and carby foods with very little vegetables I tend to get lethargic, stomach pain or headaches and acid reflux. I start craving it after a few days anyway and get tired of fries with meals twice a day. On my first trip to Florida I really enjoyed the braised pork meal at Be Our Guest (for the green beans!) and Liberty Tree Tavern (the salad, turkey and the green beans). I definitely enjoy myself on holiday, but when I start craving vegetables, I will listen to my body!

Also completely second kids portions of legit food which is now at a lot of places!! So nice for us people with small or medium appetites and when it’s super hot I can’t eat as much.

    A great new drinking game. Take a drink every time Molly says “very”. Or if you want to get really drunk, drink every time she says “favorite”.

    Great video! We aren’t going to be in WDW until august but I am excited to see this. Last time I ate at ABC Commissary it was awful so your review was so helpful! We may not end up there in August but it is so good to know it is good now!

    So hard for little ones with food allergies to see all those scrumptious treats & not be able to eat any. My grand baby has egg/nut allergies. We have to take safe snacks & eppies everywhere. At 4 yr old you want everything you see other kids having. So it is nice that Disney does offer safe foods.

    I don't mind eating unhealthy when I'm at the parks cause I'll burn it all anyways with all the walking.

    The Cobb Salad is delicious but the portions are huge. If you could order it in a normal (half) size it would be healthy.

      That was my plan last time we went. I wasn't about to figure out the WW points of everything. I ate what I wanted, but I didn't go overboard. Add in all the of exercise over eight days and I didn't gain any weight.

    Every time I’ve gone to Disney with my friend he thinks I’m weird that I like to eat something less sugary at least once a day, usually at lunch. But like all that sugar, especially in Florida heat, makes me get sick. I don’t want to have a sugar crash in the middle of the day either so 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Great video- can’t wait to try out spice road next time we go. Would you be able to show us that backpack you’re sporting? It’s so sparkly just curious what it looks like.🥳

    Molly- LOVE this video! I like to eat with the best of them, but it is nice to be reminded that there are some health(ier) options that are fun and delicious at Disney. I trust your real world take on these options, many of which I enjoy myself, but I learned a lot as well. We will see what ultimately comes of Spice Road Table, but that chicken stew looked amazing! The kids hummus and veggie plate at Docking Bay 7 was something I probably wouldnt have even found if not for you! Maybe you could choose a health(ier) choice alongside a decadent choice when reviewing individual restaurants? Again, I think if I was made aware of something that I might not choose on my first impulse(which is usually sugar and fat) I may consider something different and probably feel better about myself in the end! BTW, any time you can show your dogs, is a true pleasure! I am a huge Kronk fan!

    When I’m in Epcot that is my opportunity to really walk and stretch my legs. When I’m there alone I get walk around grapes and water. Mexico was my favorite for dinner. I don’t go on vacation to see how much I can eat. I don’t think we ever bought any of the insane drinks and treats. Boys were athletes and daughter watched her weight. In Disneyland we stayed off site and ate at nice restaurants. We have a no alcohol rule when the kids were along. Still had great fun. ⚓️🎉🍾🥂 Molly’s tips are great. Have to try Morocco next time...
